How to install Windows Server 2012 R2 Domain Controller (Step By Step guide)

Today we are going to perform a clean install of Windows Server 2012 R2 . We are goin to create Active Directory Forest and promote my first Domain Controller in the forest.
Requirements for installing 2012 R2 AD DS:
1. Install Windows Server 2012 R2
2. Configure appropriate TCP/IP and DNS server addresses, name of the server and time zones.
3. Add Domain Name System (DNS) role

To install Nvidia drivers, Open the driver installer, after extracting, close it, then go to device manager(right-click start button), click the display adapters, then microsoft basic adapter, then right-click, then update driver software, then select browse on my computer manually, and select the NVIDIA folder on the drive, then it installs.

I've created a windows 10 64-bit machine with a windows server 2012 installation via ISO. It uses a bridged adapter and the same wireless network adapter as in my PC.
I've been asked by my teacher to set up the network in the manager so that a static IP adress is used, but the PC wouldn't connect to the internet when I do this (manager->ethernet->properties). I checked with the router that it's not a currently used address on my home network.
If I choose an automatic fix in the troubleshooter (right click on the message field icon), it just picks DHCP again which isn't what I want.
I tried doing what you do using ipconfig to pick the address, and the exclamation icon on the network app disappeared after a while, it says I have internet access, but in internet explorer it says I can't open a search page (google for example), then says it can't display the site.
It took a while for the internet access to become fixed so maybe I just need to wait for a while?
VirtualBox version: 6.1 (latest)
Host OS: Windows 10 Home

my server is not connecting to internet, after installation. i have a dlink load balancing router which serves as a dhcp. when we try to connect shared folder via intranet it works. just internet seems to not work

Hey, i have completed all steps but at the time of login ctrl+alt+delete key is not working, which means by pressing these keys sign in display box is not opened.
Press the rectangle button on top left side to open
I did this but now when I login its asking for "other user" and not administrator

No. It has to be on a Windows Server computer. You can, however, install Windows Server in a virtual machine if you want to play around with it.

Hi Karlo Paita, it depends on the company. When I was a young IT I did not have any of the knowledge I have now. If the company is willing to train you, and if you are well motivated to train yourself it will not be a problem to have even less experience than that. Good luck !

Thks, When you're doing the and roll at the features option you have select "Remote Server Administration Tools" for me appears 3 of 40, what's the default to select?

This will probably happen if you are using a virtual machine. Try reinstalling the Windows Server and do the setup again.

Hi Tasmi, there are few ways you can reset the local administrator password on a server. You can try and research on those.

You can put any domain you want to so long as you remember it. In a real job you'd of course be using the domain you're given.
