A detailed and brutally honest review of our Elddis Majestic 150 Motorhome

  • When we were buying our motorhome, we wished there were more completely honest reviews of the model we bought. So we have put together this detailed review (the good, the bad and the ugly!).
    What do we think of this (rear fixed bed) layout?
    What about the size (7.4m x 2.8m)?
    ► Products we like that were mentioned in this episode
    • Vacuum Storage bags: amzn.to/3wixEWs
    • Bedding elastic fasteners: amzn.to/3BNysnm
    • Net curtain wire for bathroom cabinet: amzn.to/3wgyao1
    • Plastic Storage bags: amzn.to/3GQPgxF
    • Waste master: amzn.to/3bHaHTo
    • Shoe tidy: amzn.to/3nXGDbX
    • Pan divider/protectors: amzn.to/3q68ERi
    ► Recording gear (that this episode was shot with)
    • DJI Pocket 2: amzn.to/2ZTwoNB
    • Rode lapel mic: amzn.to/3wiE484
    ► SUBSCRIBE for a new video every SUNDAY: / ontheroadagain-uk (it's completely free and helps our channel meet new and like-minded people just like YOU!)
    ► The journey continues here:
    www.ontheroadagain.uk
    / ontheroadagainuk
    / ontheroadagainuk
    ► Who are we?
    We’re Rob and James, partners in crime and life for over 10 years. Together with our dog, Oscar, we love travelling, exploring and being outdoors.
    For the past few years, we have spent a month in the winter in warmer climes but the pandemic put paid to that (for now) so we decided to explore more of our beautiful home country, the UK.
    At the start of 2021 we purchased our first motorhome and boy, was it a steep learning curve. There was much we wished we had known both before and after we bought, and so we decided to start this TH-cam channel (as well as our website www.ontheroadagain.uk) in the hope we can share what we have learned and also share our mistakes and what we learn as we go along.
    Unlike many, we are relative newbies and want to share our honest journey with you.
    We publish 4 kinds of videos on this channel:
    1. Our travel vlogs
    2. Helpful campervan, RV, motorhome and caravan tips and tricks
    3. Site reviews
    4. Product reviews

    Really good review, you speak and explain really well. I am not sure but I think we met you chaps at the campsite in the Lake District?? Lake Coniston maybe but in any case it was a similar couple with a 105 and we discussed the poor water gauges. We have the 115 which is similar in many ways obviously smaller but we do like it and got it in preference to a panel style van but have the same problems with quality. Same security devices and I turn the seat around as well and push it up against the steering wheel, as you rightly say it will create a delay. We put a Fiamma box on the back for all the outside gear which works well but obviously no bikes. Safe travels both.

      Thank you! It wasn't us I am afraid - the last time we were in Lake Coniston was about 10 years ago (pre van). Good tip about the car pushed up to the steering wheel.

    If you run your fridge on gas for about an hour it will cool really quick then switch it over to 12 volt while driving to maintain temperature till you get to site and can use mains electric. I broke a door shelf in my domestic fridge and a replacement was about 20 quid which surprised me as I thought it would be much more.

    • @OnTheRoadAgain-UK

    You seem happy with your motorhome on the whole. We have an Encore 255 and love the layout but unfortunately would never recommend Elddis with all our issues. We took our seats out and sold them lol. Get loads of room back with removing them.

    Great presentation, I have been looking to buy a bigger van and like the 194 but I am very concerned about Elddis build quality. We have had an Accordo 125 from new and have had many problems which have only been resolved at our expense. The latest problem is the cracks around two of the drain recesses in the bathroom because of incorrect installation in the factory. We are about to have this fixed by a specialist costing £400! All very disappointing. Elddis simply don’t care.

    All or most front wheel drive campervans/motorhomes dont have rear traction on slippery roads.They are more likely to be envolved in accidents due to lose of traction on gravel roads and wet roads...Take note befor you buy.

We are also new to this.We have gone down the panel van conversion route but after watching your very thorough presentation ( our friends had an Elddis) it was seeing your schnauzer that made me subscribe 😂. It is illegal to drink anything when driving so can not see the issue with the cup holder position as sure you would not be picking it up whilst driving .
    Would be very interested to see how much weight on the rear axle as it has a fairly large overhang . Bikes on back plus the bed, wardrobes, battery,
    gas and also guessing the water tanks ( all the heavy things ) . Not to mention the small garage storage all behind the rear axle. I would get that on a weigh bridge whilst fully loaded to make sure you are within axle 2 allowance . Sounds like you do not travel with water in tank so might just be ok. Would be no good for me as travel with 140 kg of water on board.
    Too many van manufactures put to much weight at the back.

  • @Martin37vg
    @Martin37vg 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    It is illegal to drink or eat earthing whilst driving so why would it be difficult to put your cup/can back in it holder whilst you were parked? The thing I am very interested in is if you have had this to a weigh bridge in full touring mode and what weights were on both front and rear axle s Especially with the cycles on so i know i would be legal carrying similar to yourselves .

    • @OnTheRoadAgain-UK
      @OnTheRoadAgain-UK  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for your thoughts. We have a payload of nearly 500kg. Our bikes are 14kg each.

    • @Martin37vg
      @Martin37vg 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is what you been told . That is why i would love you to weigh this van and let people know your findings. Bet you are shocked
      Water, bikes . gas , batteries bed and all your storage behind the rear axel . I not sure it will be within its 2000kg limit Once weighted you can then be brutally honest to your viewers . I thought the same as you and by the time we loaded( not excessively ) and both climbed in we were overweight .

    How can you pleased with a fridge that you need to put ice blocks in? That sounds about as useful as an esky.

    • @OnTheRoadAgain-UK
      @OnTheRoadAgain-UK  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The fridge in most vans do not start to get cold until they are running on EHU or Gas, so when driving the engine battery will keep the fridge at the current temperature - hence using freezer blocks to keep food chilled until arrived at site.

    • @MrGundawindy
      @MrGundawindy 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@OnTheRoadAgain-UK oh. I didn't realise. My fridge runs on 12V only and will chill food without ice. I don't think I could deal with having to add pre-chilled food or ice to a fridge.

    Lovely van, but as an engineer, I honestly think the build quality of most vans doesn't warrant the asking prices. Lack of attention to detail is most common. I own a Bailey MH, and apparently they are considered the better built. Not convinced. 🤔 🇬🇧

    Why are you in every frame? I cannot even see the bed because you are standing in front of it, blocking the view. Camera on the van not the man, golden rule. Also please speak up or pin a mic on your collar.
    Showing the fridge - half the fridge is cut off and we only see a talking head.
    Fire your camera person and replace them. Very amateur work.
