Hello I like your videos thank you
Thank you. Lots more great content to come
I really enjoyed this, thank you. Rhodes town looks amazing. We would like to do this itinerary, ideally on Azamara, which we would like to try, but will probably end up on Celebrity Infinity! We prefer small ships.
Rhodes really surprised me at how beautiful it was. And we are with you, we prefer smaller ships (and would love to go on the Azamara too!)
Morning guys A good review and tour of the ship. Good to hear there's an adult only area. Hope you're well and having a good week ❤
Thank you!
Do you not travel with any tools?
Just a basic set
How much do you pay for that lockup?
It was about £850/year.
If you have visited Rhodes, were you as surprised by it as I was?
that is so funny.. I just got to the bit (no spoiler) that took place after that excellent lunch.. (👏!).. but I was thinking at the beginning of this video that 'James seems SO much happier' in this episode. this episode just glows with magic :)
Ah thanks. Tbh he is also getting more comfortable on camera and he is always happy on holiday!
Oh..dear...that little train..🤣🙈so sorry!
Hahah. Never mind. We still had fun x
2:16 dog looks pissed off lol
Ha. He always does!
Thanks for the great tour. I find it so funny that so many people have a fit about a shower curtain and no USB ports. Who cares if it a shower curtain or a glass door as long as it keeps the water in the shower and you get clean, what is the difference? Also, how old is old, 20 yrs, 10 years 5 years, 2 years? If it is clean, the crew are friendly and the port stops are great, what is the difference if it is 20 yrs old and doesn't have a gazillion USB ports and electrical sockets. I prefer to be in the moment rather then constantly using electronics! Are you there to play with your phone and take a shower with a glass door or are 😁😄😁 folks there to experience the country and places you are going to stop off? Old ships are smaller and have more charm then 90% of the new ships that are floating cities.
I agree about the charm of older ships. Everyone had different tastes and needs which is great because there are ships to suit everyone!
I’m on the Infinity over Christmas Be my 8th Celebrity Ship Can’t wait to have 12 great nights. Apex & Beyond were brilliant as were Constellation Eclipse Silhouette Equinox Reflection were. It’s the brand that’s far better than most Princess come 2nd Royal Caribbean 3rd Cunard 4th P&O last by a mile utter 💩
Completely agree. We loved the Infinity. Have a great Xmas cruise (I’m jealous!)
Had the same experience this past July. Older ship, chipped paint etc.. cabins were very dated. Food was ok, entertainment awful.
Sounds like you didn’t have a great cruise? Despite the ship being old and need ming some TLC, it had a certain charm about it!
Just on the Infinity Sept for 9 days. Best cruise ever!
We loved it too
Morning guys Fabulous video We've just discovered your channel so looking forward to following your adventures ❤ It looks a beautiful Island Morgs Jo and Boo ❤
Ah welcome. So glad to have you onboard and lots of exciting adventures to come
grateful to watch this 'origin' video after watching many of your cruise videos. Love your approach!
Thank you! Lots has changed!! (And more to come )
I loved the SF history. I have been there often but never heard about the history. and great work on looking for one-off places to eat.
Thank you!
such a beautiful island!
It is. This was our 3rd time visiting there and it’s still stunning
what a lovely beach!
It is. We can’t wait to be back in a couple of months
We cruised on P&O Arvia in the summer and was so busy and manic and therefore this looks so calm and just up our street. We have been on Equinox, Eclipse and Silhouette and would like to try the new class but cost is preventing us atm. We’re not bothered about how new a ship is, as long as the service and food is good. We don’t need to be entertained. Thanks for the info.
We agree. P&O was not our favourite!! Our latest cruise vlogs are from the Celebrity Infinity (the 2nd oldest Celebrity ship) and we still loved it!
incredible thunderstorm!!
It was nice to watch it from the safety of the ship?
I am cruise résistant (LOL) but find myself binge watching your videos and warming up to the idea. Thanks for emphasising buffet étiquette - and the part about being mindful that you are touching tongs that everyone else has touched. I have to admit.. (guitily) that I used to (a LONG time ego) gras the single bun that I was going to eat. Typically I would hold it under my plate. But no more. loving these.
Thank you. Glad I’m converting you!
Great video again! I have the same problem with flat tonic at home (and I'm using Fever Tree) I think it may be because the tonic is too cold when it's added to the gin. I read somewhere keep the tonic at room temp and chill with just ice
That’s what we do! Ice all the way
thanks for sharing! I love watching. As a Canadian.. I wondered what you meant when you say its 'hot'. 30C or higher. I also appreciate your commenting on the 'unoficial' culture that is set up to make money on unsuspecting tourists. I used to bristle at being taken - 'its not the sum, ils the principle (well really ils time somewhere you paid a LOT to get to which would be hard to revisit. Keep up the gréât work. I am hooked!
Thank you for the kind words. 30c is about 98f
Was this cruise on the 7th October to 17th October 2024
Hope you had a great time ?
thank you! I found this very enjoyable. I am a little curious about your suite actually - or at least your balcony as you refer to it in your review.. I have never done a cruise so my knowledge of cruise culture is pretty close to zero.
Happy to answer any questions
Fantastic, thank you! By any chance did you notice if there was a gluten free section in the buffet?
I’m pretty sure there is.
We've been on the Infinity and Apex both in AQ this year and we loved both holidays.
We did too!
The drawback with the Apex vs. the Millennium class or Solstice class is the expansion of the class system. The Retreat area takes up a good amount of the Edge ships so you don't get a proper former facing lounge that wraps around the front and has different sections. Instead you get the multifloored Eden that has entertainment and is garden themed and is set aft. You get no self-contained one-level lounge like Rendezvous, either. You get a noisier foyer when you're in the center of the ship. If you like to see a lot of shows and acrobats, then the Edge ships are an advantage. I think the Edge class should have fewer shops and restaurants and more public areas and also more quiet areas. They're also kind of "pale" looking in terms of color palette. That's just a modern trend thing.
Completely agree. Although we did enjoy Eden on the Apex, we missed having the observation lounge and we also missed having that sense of a central foyer
Hello!, I have booked this boat to spend 12 nights with destinations to the Canary Islands. This boat appears to be a pretty basic one. The decoration seems outdated and too sober. I'm not very convinced. Additionally, the benefits for Royal Caribbean advance customers are not the same on Celebrity. I think this boat may be a disappointment for me. I am traveling with my elderly mother and I am afraid that she will not live up to what I expect from a Royal Caribbean ship. Celebrity Infinity seems too stale.
We all have different likes and dislikes. Although Infinity is an older ship (and shows in some places) we still really enjoyed being in a smaller ship that had everything to hand.
It’s a ship not a boat.
I’m sure we can forgive him for this slip up!
It's not basic. If you want a more updated version, try the Millennium or Summit. They've been modernized. Celebrity is a sober and understated line until they got to the Edge class ships.
It’s not a boat. It’s a ship.
Do you like the older ships (when compared to the nearer ones). Let us know what you think?
I drive this 5 days a week both ways in an HGV.... easy😊
Ha. Easy for you to say lol
Welcome! 🥂🍾 I too was a regular visitor to SA. Moved here 30 years ago and have never looked back. Embrace the full spectrum of society, try to give back when and how you can, and you’ll have a magical time. Oh, and don’t forget the sunscreen! 😎 Nkosi! 🇿🇦
Thank you. Can’t wait to be back in January and stay in our new home!
great ship no worries
Love the Infinity
Great Video Lads but i must say your missing a trick not having an Aeropress for your coffee. Perfect coffee and nothing comes close in terms of storage. Give one a go you won’t be disappointed
Thanks. We keep thinking about getting one
This was a fun crazy trip. With a few things we wished we had known in advance. Have you been? Any other tips?
Good video but maybe you can use some bouzouki music instead this Arabesque background, music!!! After all, you are in Greece!!.
Ah I didn’t realise. We tried to use all Greek music but It’s a case of finding music that isn’t going to get us into trouble with TH-cam!
Great video! We sailed on the Infinity this past summer from Piraeus. We found the ship a bit dated but enjoyed ourselves. The plusses were the ports for the most part, as smaller ships get into those cool places vs the bigger ones which usually stick to the cities. Our itinerary featured Mykonos, Santorini, Thessaloniki, Kavala and Kusadasi. The latter 2 were boring with the exception of "Ephesus" which was amazing. The entertainment was stale at best... seems like a 10 song playlist and they used this all day and everywhere... Silent Disco was fun, Bingo actually fun minus the poor comedy. As of now I rank Celebrity number 3 behind NCL and Princess for about the same itinerary.
Have you tried one of the newer Celebrity Edge class ships?
@@OnTheRoadAgain-UK no not yet. Heard they are much better
@@ejatravels It is definitely different! We loved the Apex
Beautiful town! 😍
It is!
Yes, Celebrity sounds like they've upped their entertainment, showroom entertainment, quality. I just don't like that "Grand Plaza" and you seem to have reservations about it as well. You're right. The ship doesn't have enough lounges. It's Eden, Club, or Grand Plaza's Martini Bar. I don't think Eden is a suitable replacement for the observation lounge. I hope the next class of Celebrity ships brings back an observation lounge but due to the feedback the Edge class is getting, they probably won't. Do cold weather cruising on a different class of Celebrity ship unless you need the tech and entertainment of this class.
Agree!
Do you guys ever get motion sickness? I'm so curious to try a cruise but worried I'll be sick the whole time. I'll also have to do a solo cruise, no friends want to join me so if I do a cruise will probably be a ncl solo studio option.
No but if we hear the seas are going to be a little rough, we will take a sea sick pill as a precaution. The tech on ships are amazing to keep them smooth. You should definitely give a cruise a go. They are very social and a great way to see many places.
I always cruise alone. I love it. I can meet people if I want, but I have my own schedule and my own space. I always sail on Celebrity and its wonderful.
@@RunTravelSleepRepeat I'm definitely going to give it a try, possibly this December :)
@@RunTravelSleepRepeat I've not been brave enough to cruise alone yet! But its on the horizon
Thank you for the video! I'll be on a 7 day best of Greece and turkey cruise on the infinity next August, 2025 in aqua class.
You'll love it
Thank you for a great series, I found it really interesting as I'm going on Iona in 2 weeks time. The 1 tip I loved the most was having dessert in Ripples after Keel and cow. I'm definitely doing that, and the knicker bocker glory looked great. Thanks guys
Have a fantastic cruise
@@OnTheRoadAgain-UK thank you
I'm so excited about this video series. Thank you for doing this. I'll be on this cruise August 2025.
Embarkation vlog this Sunday
Thanks for this! Without making a workload for you, if you could scan to see if there are many gluten free options on board we would appreciate it.
We will have images of all the menus for you
I'm so happy I found your videos! I am going to Greece/Turkey for the first time on the Infinity next August, 2025 so am starting to dream/research already. I need to find a hotel for a night in Athens so thank you for this video! Hope you are going to upload some videos about your cruise. I'm staying aqua class on the 9th deck.
New video tomorrow and every Sunday
Well done!
We are just off Apex from a northern trip to Iceland. We are far from cruising experts having done about 6 across P&O, Princess and Celebrity over 15 years. The Celebrity experience is by and large excellent, but Apex wasn't the ship for us. I had reservations before the trip that a northern atlantic trip with back to back sea days and no crows nest bar could be a mistake and I was right. As you note if the weather is bad everyone is inside (it was bad, rain, wind, 6-7m waves, lots if sick people- not us, thanks Stugeron!), but the design means everyone is then concentrated around the central atrium and Martini bar, or Eden, which we really didn't like. It was dark, dingy inside and sat at the rear for a view it was like sitting in a greenhouse, but also in a corridor. That huge area of glass is like a greenhouse when the sun does shine its stifling hot so you can't sit there for long. On cloudy days it was cold sat in Eden as there are access doors to the deck and smoking area. We also found the ship cold on port days as the doors were open on deck 2 which provides access to the atrium so cold air flooded in across the martini bar, cafe, other bars. We just wanted a quieter area away from everything area with a view, which is where Eclipse crows nest wins hands down. Food was generally excellent. Tuscan service was very poor as was the food so we avoided it. Normandie was our favourite. Buffet never fails to impress. Always plenty of options. So Celebrity yes, Edge class ship probably never again, but I would miss the Veranda cabin, which on cold cruises is better than a balcony. Having a window open overnight helps prevent aircon throat.
I wish more ships were designed for cooler weather cruises. Agree on many of your points. We just got off Celebrity Infinity and were worried about going on an older ship (after being in the Apex) but we loved it!
I dislike the Edge ships for a number of reasons. 1. The ship within a ship nonsense that has the majority of passengers unable to access prime real estate of the ship. 2. the deleting of an observation forward lounge, quiet lounges, elegant lounges 3. the boring taupe base and muted color scheme that is ubiquitous on almost all ship lines. The only spaces that seem like real Celebrity design are 2 of the main restaurants and the art work. Most of the ship is generic modern ship, not true Celebrity decor which leads to not true Celebrity ambiance. Compare the Martini Bar on the Edge ships (like an extended Passport Bar with not as interesting styling) to the chic, smaller and more stylish space in the Solstice ships. That's true Celebrity design there. This ship is for people not that familiar with the Celebrity product or wanting a different Celebrity product. The direction Celebrity is going in is not for me. IMO, Celebrity reached their design peak with the Galaxy, Century. The Millennium class needed a lot of changes to make its spaces work better. The Solstice class is a solid class but lacks the dance floors that the Century class has and the variety from ship to ship of how much different they were ship to ship. Too much upselling, too much noise and loud piped in music, too many restaurants vs. social mingle areas, too few quiet areas and deck space is loaded with stuff. Cruise ships aren't a special occasion. They're more like everyday spaces that just happen to float.
@@OnTheRoadAgain-UK That observation lounge is a big deal for cold weather. I don't know why anyone would want to do an Edge class ship in Alaska or the Norweigan Fjords vs. a Millennium or Solstice class ship (if interested in views in comfort).
such a beautiful island that i know perfectly, every time i go there i am in love and quiet
Yes. We’d love to go back
Brilliant video x😅
Thank you
