- This video was less fun to make than I expected. Borderless was interesting to go through because it was a narrower topic, letting me focus on modern refugee processes, and the impact of refugees on European countries, all from the perspective of the (then) modern day. Crossfire blisters through decades of history, and then touches on so many different aspects of policing and crime that it never really settles on one topic for too long.
This movie seems designed to confuse the audience with a barrage of information. My response, I worry, may have a similar effect with regard to modern day policing and crime. My main purpose here was to show that Crossfire is a movie not worth taking seriously, and if you want to understand the origin of the BLM protests, you're better off looking elsewhere.

To me that kind of has the opposite of the intended effect. Putting the cops in surroundings that are drastically different from the areas they are charged with policing(suburbs, offices, etc) gives the impression that they are isolated inside of some kind of bubble.
Granted, I am probably weird, and also not part of the intended audience.

You were right not to keep track of every point made. The film was never meant to be coherent or make sense, only to push a certain tone and make people who already agree feel more convicted in those feelings.
This is why I'm over claims that "newly deradicalized" right have changed drastically. While you can see the faults in your previous association, often times you are still the same in terms of your relationship to the group you demonize. Frankly, I'd have to really see it to believe it.

Lauren Southern went to University of the Fraser Valley sometime between 2011, and 2016, and she didn't study Philosophy. I know this because I did study philosophy there for those years, and she was never in any of my classes. I think she studied political science, and at one point she took a women's studies course so that she could shit on it on youtube, but she never finished it.
I think the university was too much for her.
She did, she dropped out. She enrolled again later as she said she was continuing education in her goodbye video. Got pregnant, dropped out a second time, got married.

Her video used racist sources and was named after the idea started by a known racist author, which was also used by the Christchurch shooter's manifesto, literally named the Great Replacement, and who later murdered 50 people in a mosque in 2019, which is one of the reasons why she went quiet a few years back, because she knew people would make the connection. Her ideas are inherently violent and revolting, and she's currently trying to repackage them into a nicer package. You probably don't know because she's thankfully really falling out of relevancy, and hopefully stay that way.
And what a surprise, in this very video, her own documentary has racist and antisemitic guests, and goes on for a few minutes trying to suggest black and brown people are just biologically violent.

I think it's a mistake to treat Southern as if "maybe she's changed" and then at the end to feel sorry for her. She's extremely dangerous. Everything she says should be seen as part of the grift, at least until she makes a definitive and unambiguous apology. Expressing any other attitude risks encouraging viewers to take her seriously, and possibly be drawn into her worldview. No doubt her fellow Nazis treat her like garbage, but she was already a soulless husk. This is the world she chooses to live in; this is who she wants to be. She is not the victim. @W J just read the paper and it literally said that it wasn't particularly correlated with violent crime specifically, but it was correlated with crime in general, and the important takeaway is that it's only one factor among many in terms of criminality in kids. What was your point again? Giving Southern the benefit of the doubt and viewing her work "with an open mind" is a mistake. People like her have to live with their actions and therefore their reputation. There's no path for someone like her back into the national body politic - the risk is far too high and the benefit is so incredibly low. This is not a criticism of you or this video at all. Just my opinion. Keep up the amazing work, Jose.
Good video, honestly the most interesting part was when you started talking about the White Noise documentary, seeing those clips was fascinating. It makes me almost feel bad for Lauren and I wish she'd have the epiphany that this ecosystem she's existing in and contributing to is really harmful, but I guess she's just a lost cause.
