    I enjoyed the multi take opening and I laughed out loud when you were describing your location and put all of the Mathematic equations on the screen. You got some nice shots and I especially liked the portraits of your new buddy. That’s a really nice camera and lens combo.

      Yeah, it didn’t occur to me until I was editing that I had rambled on so long about it🤪 Thanks Phil, I have been really busy today and have not had much time to watch my fav’s yet, but as soon As I catch a break, I will go see what you and Adrian have posted today. 👍📸

    Great video David. Oh man I love that lens. There is just something about those images you got with it that are really beautiful. A refreshing look at the photos taken with a vintage lens. Really cool. Thanks for sharing the video 🙏

    Been lov’n my D810 for two years. I’ve also been using vintage glass for about 5yrs. Ais lenses 50, 105, 135mm produce some of the best photos I’ve ever taken! Love your videos!

    I love mirrorless cameras. Because they make (even better) cameras like the Nikon D810 affordable on the used market. Nikon -- so much fun due to their commitment to F-mount from 1958 to present day. Millions of lenses on the used market. Many incredible values.

      Yes. So true. That is one of the reasons I went with Nikon originally. I have expanded my brand recognition a little since then, but still fall back on my vintage Nikon glass pretty regularly. 👍😂📸

      I agree. It is a phenomenal camera and now it is also at an amazing price point too. Crazy times we live in. I paid 4 times the current going price and was very happy to get it at that price. People just don’t know…

    Great video David. I'll have to give that lens a shot on my Nikon film cameras and adapt it to my Fujifilm cameras as well. And who knows maybe a D810 is in my future as well.

    Nice review! I used to own this lens long ago, with the Nikon FE and FE2. The focus indicator dot in the viewfinder to find the exact focus is the equivalent of the split-center and microprism the analog cameras used to have on the focusing screen. Both FE and FE2 had a changeable focusing screen, including one wth cross-hairs. Although I use autofocus all the time now, I don’t think focusing was really a problem 40 years ago, except maybe doing sports and some nature photography with objects that wanted to get out of focus as quick as possible!
    That said, I always found it strange that the focus indicator dot that you mentioned only appeared in the viewfinder, not on the LCD on top, nor on the color screen on the back! It would have caused a minor adjustment to add such a feature. I used my D90 (which is still one the best cameras in terms of ergonomics) on a reprostand, and then the manual focusing is awkward using the see-through viewfinder.

    Seems a great lens. From what you're saying i guess you don't get exifs on a Z6 ?

    • @davidsaylors
      @davidsaylors  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You will get partial exif data. Since the lens isn’t chipped, the camera doesn’t know what lens it is unless you remember to enter it into the non-cpu lens data. If you do that, it will record exif data for this lens. 👍📸

    I love the top screen too. Relying on live view or settings can develop poor camera tecnique. Live view is good for shooting low if the screen can flip, but i see a lot of new photogs relying on live view and complaining about the weight of their cameras on forums. I'm glad to have a D700 and take better photos than someone I know with a modern Sony mirrorless. The OVF is horrible on the Sony too. It feels like a camcorder and the blackout is pathetic.
