Thank you for reviewing these two. I've seen reviews talking about the Sigma having an issue getting focus every time as well as the focus breathing. It seems this new lens has far less issues with those two. Thank you, Mark.
It's actually the worst it's been in decades. Point and Shoots cameras are basically mostly gone while Bridge Cameras about the same. All that's really left is interchangeable Cameras were once you get in, it quickly becomes a MONEY pit. So you aren't remotely close to being right. @@natureredux1957 It's only a "money pit" if you choose to make it one. There is nothing stopping you from buying a point and shoot from second hand market places. I'm really impressed with what Yongnuo has been doing with these sub $300 lenses. I haven't really had a lens like my old Lumix 25mm F1.7 since moving to APS-C, but this will be the one I end up grabbing. Also love that it's available on multiple mounts instead of just E mount so my Nikon Z30 gets some native glass finally. Great lenses are getting cheap and cheap lenses are getting greater!

The price is very competitive, but it might be costly in the long run. I purchased the Yongnuo 11mm f/1.8 last July but it only lasted me about 1 month before the focusing motor broke in the middle of a shoot. I had to send it to their China factory and have yet to get a proper answer as to why it stopped working. No mention of the warranty or repair services? I think that you are missing an important point if you are comparing brands. Their website does not say what the warranty is, I could not find any info. And when you click on repair services in their web page it opens a web page in Chinese. For a bit more you can get the Sony 10-18 or 10-20, but they’re F4 which was a deal breaker for my use-case. Some after market sub 16mm lenses as well, however I opted for Sony for the least amount of distortion out the box.

I also want the 11mm sony wide angle lens, but then I'm way over budget. thanks mark. Also, do you think the Samyang AF 12mm F/2.0 lens is suitable for outdoor vlogging?
After so many years I realized how important the weight is and how overrated sharpness and optical quality is. This new lens is amazing though! I have a Rokinon 35 f1.8, 210 grams and also full frame. Haven't seen a better deal since I bought it.
Great haven’t bought a new lens in a minute. Was looking at the Viltrox 33mm but now I will grab this one for that prime length. As if I don’t have enough APS-C lenses for my a6700.
I have nothing but positive experience with Yongnuo when they were still just selling flashes. Was surprised when they started selling lenses as well and got their YN25 f1.7 for m43 and pretty damn good. Looking forward to getting the new YN17mm f1.7 however the price is competing with 2nd hand prices of the smaller Panleica/DJI 15mm f1.7.
I have already purchased this lens Mark , it is very sharp . But barrel distortion is what i dislike . It distorts more than my Sirui 33mm f1.2. But, in terms of sharpness, It is hands down one of the sharpest 33mm lenses out there, if not the sharpest .
Not sure about best mirrorless lens. I went and checked out example photos of the Sigma 30 f1.4 and they do not seem exceptionally sharp. My benchmark in this regard is the Fuji 56mm f1.2. A much more expensive lens to be sure. But that one has pretty amazing sharpness in the center of the frame at full aperture. And the color rendering is just amazing. This Sigma is just ok. The bokeh has a rough texture in a few places on most photos I see with foliage in the background.
It is ridiculous if people call a fair price ridiculous. No wonder everything get expensive. It is ridiculous how far too expensive other lens makers are. That's the reality.
I'm sure this YN is great and good value for money but there may be a catch. I've just bought a TTArtisans 28/f2.8 pancake lens that also had good reviews. However, it refuses to work with continuous focus on my older Sony NEX-6. No trouble with autofocus on the a6700 at all. Lens optical corrections work on the camera but they vanish when a raw file is uploaded to Lightroom. In fact, there are no lens profiles in Lightroom for neither Yongnuo nor TTArtisans. Nobody checks for such things in their reviews unfortunately.
There are LR profiles on the websites - I always check 😃 www.hkyongnuo.com/xzyzc and www.ttartisan.com/?LensProfile/ - check those out and they might help with your issues
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis Many thanks Mark. I did look for a profile for my lens. It either was not there yet when I looked or I overlooked it. I should have checked again before writing my note. My bad. TTArtisans give me no hope to fix the autofocus issue for NEX-6. It's a hard problem for you to know of course. As for me, the single focus mode works, so I have almost usable, almost pocketable set that I was aiming for. Makes me think about the new coming Viltrox pancake as an alternative.
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis You gave me hope and I've jumped the gun. The LR profile TTArtisan provides is for the Fujifilm XF version of the lens only. No luck for Sony folks. It also doesn't seem compatible with Lightroom Mobile. I am fussy, aren't I? 😇
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisisPrime deals are in europe. I can buy the Sigma 30mm for 250€ or the Meike 33mm for 178€ both new. Yongnuo 33mm not available yet 🤕 any recommendation?
By the time you get around to it it's better to buy Leica or Carl Zeiss. I'm not carrying that weight around unless it's gold. That said, for hobbyists this is a great niche.
Yongnuo means 'Young One' in Chinese - maybe.. On a serious note, why of all possible places did they choose to put the '33' right next to the mount? It's a great lens for the price, though.
what i want is more lenses like 12mm or 14mm 1.8 full frame, where is Samyang, Yougnuo , Rokinon etc or a 12-24 2.8 from sigma or other brand because I will never pay 2k for the Sony One
I like my 23mm Viltrox lens -- not really thinking a 33 would improve my focal length choices. I am interested in trying some Yongnuo glass, though. It's hard to not consider them at their price point. Cheers

he sigma 16 and zv-e10 is perfect. look at the 11 Yongnuo 1.8 for vlogging, but the 12 samyang can work of the Yongnuo 11 is too pricey
After so many years I realized how important the weight is and how overrated sharpness and optical quality is. This new lens is amazing though! I have a Rokinon 35 f1.8, 210 grams and also full frame. Haven't seen a better deal since I bought it.
Right? Who needs optical quality when I can have something a few ounces lighter.
This for sony full frame or apsc?
APS-C
Great haven’t bought a new lens in a minute. Was looking at the Viltrox 33mm but now I will grab this one for that prime length. As if I don’t have enough APS-C lenses for my a6700.
😂
For the their website to get the Lightroom profile to remove Harrell distortion
Can I use this lens canon apsc camera?
No - canon only has one 3rd lens as of now - the Sigma 18-50
What about micro four thirds??
I love my yongnou 35 f2, that mf/af switch is so useful for my wedding or fast paced shoots. Hope to see them have a 1.4 for fullframe soon
Solid lens! Love the aperture ring and af/mf switch! Sirui does make a 33mm f1.2 that is a banger of a lens as well! Great video! 👌
I do hope it will come out in Fuji X Mount soon
That voice... Is that the same voice used for TES: Oblivion??
Yang No, thanks
Not sure about best mirrorless lens. I went and checked out example photos of the Sigma 30 f1.4 and they do not seem exceptionally sharp. My benchmark in this regard is the Fuji 56mm f1.2. A much more expensive lens to be sure.
But that one has pretty amazing sharpness in the center of the frame at full aperture. And the color rendering is just amazing.
This Sigma is just ok. The bokeh has a rough texture in a few places on most photos I see with foliage in the background.
do a yongnuo vs viltrox next!
It is ridiculous if people call a fair price ridiculous.
No wonder everything get expensive.
It is ridiculous how far too expensive other lens makers are.
That's the reality.
Are these no longer available
Looks like it's sold out on amazon right now - check the direct website th.hkyongnuo.com
i need zoom lens recommendations for a6700
I like the Sigma 18-50 2.8 the most amzn.to/4dufBAJ
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis Thank you, but other than that... That's the only one?
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis
Many thanks Mark.
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis
You gave me hope and I've jumped the gun. The LR profile TTArtisan provides is for the Fujifilm XF version of the lens only. No luck for Sony folks. It also doesn't seem compatible with Lightroom Mobile. I am fussy, aren't I? 😇
Write ttartisan and see if they can send you a profile directly
Mark we need the best lens under £150, used market 😂
In the comparison video and photos the yongnuo renders a very flat image. the sigma image appears to have more depth.
gotta go with the one that speaks to you
Didn't you forget to mention that it is an apsc lens?
I said it right away in the intro that the Sigma is a 30 APS-C and now we have 33 lens to compete
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis Indeed. My brain must have skipped that part. Thanks for the correction.
Looking forward to your review of Meike 33mm F1.4. If you can make a comparison between them, it will be great.
@@vukhuat4251 for sure - just received it today!!
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisisPrime deals are in europe. I can buy the Sigma 30mm for 250€ or the Meike 33mm for 178€ both new. Yongnuo 33mm not available yet 🤕 any recommendation?
nevel failed to give me a giggle
By the time you get around to it it's better to buy Leica or Carl Zeiss. I'm not carrying that weight around unless it's gold. That said, for hobbyists this is a great niche.
Does it fit Canon M50 as well?
no
Yongnuo means 'Young One' in Chinese - maybe..
On a serious note, why of all possible places did they choose to put the '33' right next to the mount?
It's a great lens for the price, though.
some questionable design choices 🤣
Yongnuo is 永诺 in Chinese. meaning "everlasting promise".
@@justneoh8253 thanks 😊
Canadian Tuxedo
Next week on the show Bryan Adam is coming on and we’re gonna get Reckless
what i want is more lenses like 12mm or 14mm 1.8 full frame, where is Samyang, Yougnuo , Rokinon etc or a 12-24 2.8 from sigma or other brand because I will never pay 2k for the Sony One
Man they really have to get rid of that logo😂
Yes!! Something nicer and maybe a catchier name.
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis Bennett'on?
I like my 23mm Viltrox lens -- not really thinking a 33 would improve my focal length choices. I am interested in trying some Yongnuo glass, though. It's hard to not consider them at their price point. Cheers
Thansk, JR!!
Question. I have the tamron 35-150mm 2-2.8. I'm interested in the meike 85mm. Do you think that's overkill? Thank you
mark i fkin love you. you are the best
