Thanks for this video! I'm in the Kickstarter for their new game, Bristol 1350, and can add on one extra game - we're a family that plays together, and I love that you recognized that families hate learning rules - mine won't sit and do that, so it's been hard to find games they'd play! I found this video very helpful! :D
Aakriti Agrawal glad you enjoyed it and that we could help! We have Bristol coming along via Kickstarter so we’ll have to update this when it arrives :D
Very cool. I've never heard of any of these board games, but they all sound like a lot of fun. I LOVED board games back when I was a teen and then in college, but haven't really played one in sooo long. This got me interested in playing some board games again, so thank you for that!
Thank you for this. I was curious about Facade's other games. Out of impulse I wanted to get Deadwood and Tortuga after Salem was a hit with my gaming group, but it seems I'll only be picking Tortuga up. Thanks!
My group of board game friends had a completely different outcome than your ranking. Strength of theme excluded, we felt that Deadwood was the best for anyone (probably because of the high randomness), that Tortuga was the best for our group, and they felt that Salem was a tad too derivative of Werewolf...if they are going to play that, they would rather play Secret Hitler. But that's just us
Thanks for watching Rex, I think the fact we’d not played Ultimate Werewolf might have helped Salem pip the post. But I can definitely see merit in Deadwood, it’s just not clicked with us yet. Stay tuned for Bristol! :)
Have backed Bristol 1350 as well, and hopefully will be able to do an unboxing video of it...game friends are going to do at least 1 time of each of these games in the lead-up to Bristol arriving.
I have not heard of these games before but now I need to check all of them. We do games nights a lot over here. half the time with the xbox but the kids are more into board games lol This was an awesome video really enjoyed it
Adam and I find Tortuga to be a firm hit with our families and friends. We are planning looking at games with Apps, which bridges Board Games with Ipads etc. Glad you like the video @Sadie. :D
Salem is the best by a long shot. I need to try Tortuga with a group that will take it a little more seriously, but Deadwood does not play well with a group size that leaves a player without a partner, and has way too much randomness.
We will have their latest offering at some point this year, so will have to revisit these again! :) thanks for watching and taking the time to comment.
But Salem suffers from the same problems as Mafia in that you can’t ever know anyones role for certain. It’s not rlly a deduction game if no one except the witches can have certainty. Have you found some way of deducing roles?
@alixx_legenddark_xx2819 The witches benefit from digging through the deck as quickly as possible to get to Conspiracy and Night, so the biggest giveaway that someone is a witch is when they are drawing more often than they are playing cards. Unless you're talking about an issue with honesty. Really, that doesn't matter. Once the witch card is flipped up, the villagers win, and once you get to night, if everyone opens their eyes, the witches win, and it's really easy to check if someone is lying about ever being a witch, because it only ever moves one seat over at a time, so there shouldn't be any breaks in the line
@@itsnottylor4011 and what if they don’t? Wouldn’t the first phase at least be guesswork and accusations? Just simply turning over “tryal” cards after “tryal” cards?
@@alixx_legenddark_xx2819 I my experience the first phase of the game typically comes down to people putting accusations on people, spreading them out as evenly as possible, simply because playing an accusation is less suspicious than drawing. Then, a few people get a few tryal cards flipped over. In the meantime, you've probably gone through the deck at least once, so there's a chance that the witch card has been passed. The more the witch card gets passed, the more the witches can start getting bold, especially the ones that don't hold the witch card. At which point, the remaining non-witches start trying to focus down the people acting the most suspicious , which accelerates the game quite a bit in the last phase until the witches narrowly win or narrowly lose.
My family likes Deadwood the best out of the three! We have found that it took some "house rule" modifications to make it more enjoyable. Not only do some of our rule changes make it more thematic, but it feels better to play as well. We may end up feeling the same way about Bristol, the new one-we haven't had a chance to play it yet.
I agree, but are they rlly? They seem pretty different to me. Also, you haven’t accounted for player count. Sometimes we don’t have 5 ppl to play with. Yes, ik there’s a directors cut in Quest which can be played with 4, but I can’t find the rule book anywhere. That’s why I suggest Hollywood 1947. It has a solo and 2-4 mode (which is rlly the only reason I’m getting it) and is similar enough to the resistance for me.
Which game do you prefer?
I think there definitely is skill and strategy involved when playing deadwood, but Salem takes the cake out of the 3 for sure.
you should prefer getting some pussy my dude
Definitely Salem
@@JebadiahBlaze have you had a chance to play Bristol yet?
@@DieRollin not yet, I just watched the video on it. Can't wait to check it out!

Love Tortuga, and it playes well with up to 7 or 8 well. There are rules on the geek for adding the Dutch player into even nember player games
Guy Allen oh wow, need to try that. It’s a game that works well with 4 or 8 in my view. :)
Tortuga is so good especially the more players you add, odd is best but even still plays great

Great choice, Facade have just had a kickstarter for another game in the series.

Is bristol and salem good for 4 people? im new into board games and think these would be fun social deduction starter

Yes, you can play these multiple times!
I'd say they're all pale copies of each other and get Avalon the Resistance instead.
