From someone who has been buying luxury since the early 90’s, I feel confident saying the Valentino rockstud and Gucci Dionysus will not last. They will become dated at a point, BUT a classic Burberry trench will truly last you for life.
Pamela Pryor and that took many years to learn for me, but am finally grasping it. How many things in my closet are just a smidge off - perfect in some ways, but the sleeve isn’t quite right or some other detail keeps it from being worn often. Better to put the money on the item that is 100 percent right than several 70 percent right items 😁
I have to say, my Burberry coat outlasted me and all my travels. 🤣 It can’t fit me anymore but it still looks as amazing as when I bought it. Though a little worn. I mainly use the coin purse as my earset/bluetooth pouch.
I am just getting into wearing designer shoe classics please could you do a video on classic shoes to purchase. I love your style you are so elegant and beautiful
sammikit I am going to try that with mine. I never carry or use coins, so mine is still new and unused. It is too small to hold a credit card. But I love my music, so I like your idea 😎
Hi Amie, I use small pouches like your coin purse to organize my handbag. For example, I’ll put my smaller items that get lost easily like lipbalm, eye drops, or mints in a coin pouch, or items I prefer to be discreet liketampons.
I was so close to buying the Gucci Dionysus a few years ago as I just loved the look but when I went to try it on I did find it a bit heavy. As I suffer with back pain I didn’t want to take the chance. I still think it’s such a beautiful bag. I’m glad you get a lot of wear out of it.😊❤️
Very detailed I really enjoyed. I would not splurge on travel or makeup bags. Maybe if I had regular business trip but otherwise no I just would not have enough wear to justify
Leslie Craven I agree! Especially since makeup bags tend to get dirty over time - especially when you get makeup on it! I prefer to actually use the makeup bags I get with “gift with purchases” - didn’t cost me anything extra & I don’t have to worry about my makeup getting on it!
Great to see someone bought a classic Burberry trench coat in BLACK color! I think the honey color is not very flattering on Asians with warm under tone. The older Stone color is discontinued which brighten up our skin color a bit. I really like the trench coat in black but everyone else seem to be wearing the classic honey color which doesn't flatter everyone. What do you think about the honey or stone color trench coat? What do you think about the Kensington style?
Great video. I never knew the practicality of carrying a card holder until recently. YSL also makes a horizontal card holder that has a zipper for coins and bills. It is understated and does not have the YSL logo but it holds more cards and very functional. I bought my Toy Loulou based on your recommendation. It has been working well for me. I have it in black leather with gold hardware. I love your suggestions and tips. xoxo.
Hi Amie, I agree on the Valentino rockstud flats. I had them as well but found them so uncomfortable that I never felt like wearing them so I finally sold them again. After your great review on the Nicholas Kirkwood flats I thought I would give them a shot and ordered a pair. I need more flats that are booth comfortable and chic in my life. ;)
My coin purses (I have several Hermes Bastia) get so much use. More than any other SLG. I travel for work and I have one for sterling, one for Euro and one for Dollars (and the lovely bright colours of Hermes leather means that I can always find the one I want). I basically carry a card holder and the coin purses for where ever I am going to be. I also use one for my headphones. Generally there are at least 2 in any bag at any one time.
Hi Aimee, depending on the country where you live or are traveling in, the coin purse is super useful. I use this item religiously as I live in Paris, where it is always handy to have a few 1 and 2 euro coins. However, when I travel to the states I don’t bring this and have decided against gifting this item to my sister since the U.S. doesn’t have “higher value” coins and card is used even for small purchases.
Totally agree with the buy what you like not just because it is on sale. So many times I end up purchasing multiple items because the "want" has not been satisfied. Love your splurge and save picks. I have the valentino rockstud heels and they are tall but I love them! They were my wedding gift from my husband and I thought they were definitely worth the money :)
LOL, I have the exact same LV Polar Bear coin purse. I paid over retail because it was no longer available at LV and I LOVED the print and had to have it. It was new when I bought it, and it is STILL new because I have not used it even once. I never use or carry coins. But the round shape with the Polar Bears just hooked me so bad I had to have it. File that under the “live and learn” category 😂
Great video Amie! I agree with you with most of the items except for the Valentino Rockstud flats. I have just bought them in black and they are quite comfy. Of course it is such a personal preference. Thank you again for your Always very detailed videos. I really enjoy watching them. Ciao
Hello, love the Burberry Trench but in the video you mentioned it was the Chelsea but the link you added is the Kensington 🤔🤔🤔 I can't tell which one it is. X
I'm surprised you say that Valentino's falt ballerinas are not comfortable. I use mines and I can walk with them all day. In my case, I bought half a number more to make them more spacious. The pointy ballerinas are complicated and depends a lot on the shape of each one's foot. And I do not think it should be generalized saying that the Valentino is uncomfortable. Precisely, it has the elements that make this type of shoes comfortable: it is very open, it is low in the back area of the foot , the tip closes only at the end, with which there is enough space for the fingers ... For me it is one of the best designs. Instead, I have a Jimmy Choo that literally shred my feet at 5 min.
Fantastic video and very informative 😉👍🏻 I have put so much thought into buying designer items and this video was super helpful to me. You are spot on with your recommendations! I just love and appreciate your channel. Thank you SO much 🤗🥰
Very good points! I do tend to buy things that I haven't even used or worn, just because it looks good. I have recently sold bags that I haven't even used, and I could have just saved and bought what I did really want, so thank you for the helpful tips. I definitely want those NK Beya flats but the two pairs that I previously had were soooo small, I couldn't even wear them or make them work to fit comfortably. I definitely want to buy more, but there are very expensive, I am definitely going to save for those. 💕😍
@@ChaseAmie Yes, I definitely want to buy them again soon! The leather was so soft and was very sad I couldn't make them work. I bought them pre-owned, but they were basically brand new with the dust bags and box included. I can't seem to find any more pre-owned that are in excellent condition and in my size, so the best bet is to either wait until they go on sale, or save and buy them full price. Either way, worth it for the quality. :)
Hi Amie, what size did you get for the Nicholas Kirkwood loafer? My usual size is 38 and I tried the same size for the loafer but felt they were a little too tight. Do they stretch a lot? Do you suggest get half size up? Thanks in advance!
So true what you said about buying a bag for special occasions. I had my eyes on this cute pink bag for a Year and suddenly I realised that during that entire year I’d been to two events where I would actually wear a bag as fancy as that. 😂😂
Challe L I bought a Chanel Single Flap bag in 2008 because I thought I would use it for special occasions. That didn’t happen. Nowadays I carry it when I go to the mall or the movies. 😏
Hi ! I have been eyeing the Valentino tote & plan on using it to carry books ... can it withstand a good amount of weight in your opinion ? Pls advise 😐THANKS in advance 🤗
Thanks for a great video! I love how you compare the categories in save vs splurge; it made it so useful. I also am impressed how you manage the collaboration. Must of collaborations I´m not in found of, but you make it on a graceful way this time; a roll model for other influencers I think. /Marie from Sweden.
I nearly got the Burberry Camden car coat today which has 30% discount. I bought it online and delivered to boutique and when trying it on, it was nice but not overly excited. However when I tried on the Kensington midnight trench, it looked so much nicer and I definitely prefer this one, although it’s a lot more expensive and no discount. So l left the boutique without the Camden car coat and hopefully to buy the Kensington trench in heathrow as I’m traveling soon. Thanks for your sound advise.
That's the thing with clothing (especially expensive clothing!) - you really need to love it instantly otherwise it just won't work long-term in my experience! I wish I'd figured it out sooner haha :) Good luck with your Heathrow purchase!
I completely agree. I have bought Chanel, YSL, Louboutins, heels that I literally never wore. I bought them because they were cute. However, they are just not comfortable. I have two teenage sons, whose girlfriends have been given all of these things by me. My boys sometimes joke that girls only date them for all the free clothes they get from me. Lol.
Hey Amy, I have a question for the valentino rockstud heels. My toes happens to be longer than the shoe box so it shows a toe cleavage but I dislike how it peeps through the shoe. However, I really like the shoe design. Is toe cleavage a thing?
Most comfortable heels for me are Jimmy Choo Romy 100 ones. Rossi plexi heeles are not for me. They look gorgeous on but toe box is way too narrow and it pinches my pinky toe. Other Rossi high heeles feel more comfortable, thats true.
I was surprised with your last save item. The shoes are neutral in colour and suede and I can see it with both blue and black jeans, leather real or faux leggings as well as dresses. 🤔
In your previous save or splurge you recommended saving on tote bags..is the Valentino the exception to that rule or have you changed your opinion entirely on whether tote bags are splurge worthy?
I think it comes down to what you use the most. The great thing about tote bags is that you really can find gorgeous, great quality ones at lower price points. So it just comes down to whether you want more of a 'statement' tote. For me, I use and love tote bags so much that I think they're worth spending more on - my Valentino and LV MM Neverfull are two of my most used bags. But if you're not so fussed about tote bags and only use them as run-around bags, it's a good way to save :)
Thank you for replying! I get what your saying. I’ve recently bought a Tory Burch tote bag second hand (but never used) for £140 which I am enjoying because I thought I’m only going to be using it for work and will be abusing it lol but I’m still lusting after the Valentino tote in the blush colour! I think I might have made the mistake of “settling” rather than just saving to get the Valentino that I really wanted
Probably best to wait until after you graduate (maybe even several years after) unless you come from a wealthy family that is supporting you. Especially if you are taking out loans for school. Let’s say you are taking out loans for tuition and saving to buy luxury at the same time. That’s money you could have put toward your student debt so the loans are really for the luxury at some point.
For me, splurge on the bags & coats! You get so much wear out of those and if you buy classic styles you can wear them for years and years. I personally would not splurge on clothing since so many brands do similar styles at lower price points. If I were to splurge on a clothing item it would have to be an absolute classic piece.
Guys love tote bags, because they can ask you to put this... and that, aaand that, and his keys, and his scarf, and his chewing gum, and a portable charger, and a mini heater, possibly a spare tire in it, too.
From someone who has been buying luxury since the early 90’s, I feel confident saying the Valentino rockstud and Gucci Dionysus will not last. They will become dated at a point, BUT a classic Burberry trench will truly last you for life.
The best advise ever! If you buy something that is not what you want doesn’t matter if it’s on sale, SAVE
Pamela Pryor and that took many years to learn for me, but am finally grasping it. How many things in my closet are just a smidge off - perfect in some ways, but the sleeve isn’t quite right or some other detail keeps it from being worn often. This 100%!
PLEASE do a full info video on the different Burberry trenchcoats! 😍
Hi Amie, what size did you purchase for the B-coat? Thank you and love your channel
I actually really sized down and got a UK size 4 (Burberry sizing is a little funny in my experience!)
The current Burberry sizes are big. You may want to size down. I used to get true to size but now I size down.
That Burberry coat looks stunning on you. I can completely understand splurging on such a beautiful coat.
Thank you so much Debbie! I'm super excited about it :)
Great video! You can use your LV round coin purse for your headphones.
I have to say, my Burberry coat outlasted me and all my travels. 🤣 It can’t fit me anymore but it still looks as amazing as when I bought it. Though a little worn.
I mainly use the coin purse as my earset/bluetooth pouch.
Every time I hear you talk about Gucci I am going to remember Dan and his review of the print! 🤣
Lol, same!
I am just getting into wearing designer shoe classics please could you do a video on classic shoes to purchase. I love your style you are so elegant and beautiful
Yahoo Better good idea ;)
If you carry ear buds, the LV coin purse is a great way to store them.
sammikit I am going to try that with mine.
I’m glad you get a lot of wear out of it.😊❤️
I have two Dionysus bags and every time I wear either of them my neck breaks
If you live in Canada, a coin purse is extremely useful! I got the LV one and its really handy for all the change Canadians carry!
Very detailed I really enjoyed. I would not splurge on travel or makeup bags. Maybe if I had regular business trip but otherwise no I just would not have enough wear to justify

Anna agree I’d just buy a gift set with a nice makeup bag, it’ll get dirty quickly enough ;)
I‘ve got the Gianvito Rossi pumps in the patent leather and they are the best and most comfortable heel ever!
Do they run true to size?
Gianvito Rossi are absolutely the most comfortable high heel brand I've ever found!
For me, every pair I own is TTS!
Burberry Trench for sure!!! Couldn't agree more, save for the piece you desire to own... ESPECIALLY CLASSIC PIECES. I'm going through this now.💕
Great to see someone bought a classic Burberry trench coat in BLACK color! I think the honey color is not very flattering on Asians with warm under tone. Absolutely love your tips 🙌🏻 especially because I want to make my first lux bag purchase soon. These videos are really helpful
Your videos are always very helpful. Thank your for sharing. Have a great week.
Such great advice about the Burberry. I was always wondering what the difference is. Beautiful classic
They have so many different styles, it can be super confusing!
Could you use the coin purse for lip balm, painkillers or headphones?
Amie, try using your LV coin purse for your earbuds!

I mean it's the cutest thing to look at so that's something right...?! 😂😂
I just ordered a Valentino cardholder because I got a steal on it. I hope that I like it as much as the YSL one 🤞🏼
I use my round coin purse to hold earphones and usb cable.
Me too! So useful and I never have to worry about finding or ruining them. It also transitions easily from my larger bags to my smaller ones.
I use my round coin purse for Advil and other necessary meds that come in prepackaged foil bubbles. I take it everywhere.
Islandgirl8 great idea ! I have allergies so its perfect for my pills !!!

How do you keep all the shoes clean as new? Do you wear those no-show socks with your pumps?
I like to use wipes where I can :) Never used no-show socks, I'm afraid!

A lot of parking meters in my area do debit cards or there are city apps, so I’m not sure how much people need coins for parking in general anymore.
Yeah I thought this too haha... a few people commented that you can use them for earphones though which is a great idea!
I wish you would feature more clothing, not just bags and shoes.
You’re awesome! 😁💜👍🏻 Always enjoy your videos. Xox.
Hi! What size is your Burberry coat in?

Is your wrap bracelet from Cartier?
The bracelet on her right is a thin rose gold cartier. She made a video on it earlier in the year :)
Haha Noodle Maiden knows! :)
Your video made my day💞😄😉
I need those splurge flats in my life 😭

Hello from Manila, Amie!
Yeah I have in grey but stupid choice girl
