This still hurts. Its....just....wrong somehow. Freddie is a Brave, I don't care what uniform he wears. This feels like a bad break up....like both want eachother but neither can stay.

If he wanted to play in Atlanta, he would be playing in Atlanta.

It hurt for a while, and it sucks how it went down, but Matt Olson is a damn good 1st baseman and is filling Freddie's shoes perfectly.

As a Dodgers fan all I got to say is he better be over this in 2023. We gave him all of 2022 to cry about it. Enough is enough

Freddie's last at bat as a Brave was a home run in the clinching game of the World Series.

Why is the agent being scapegoated? The braves traded for Olson in the midst of working out a deal. If they wanted freeman, freeman would be a brave.

We got someone better. I’ve moved on..

  • @NomadHokie

Don't know why anyone of Freddie's stature would use him as an agent. If you want max money, which is the niche Close seems to be in, then why not just use Boras? If you want an agent that will actually try to look out for your best interests and not their own, I'd look elsewhere. That said, I do think Close handled the Dansby free agency pretty well. Hard to blame Dansby for taking $70M+ more than what the Braves offered.

I miss FF so much! He is a hero for all Braves fans. We will always love that guy!

To all the sad Atlanta fans to this day. Us dodger fans feel for you but hope you know how much we love to have Freddy

  • @DisAccountizaMiracle

Love the breakdown but hear me out. You left something extremely important at the end and what I hypothesize as the reason Freddie Fired his agent.

I have been a fan of his since the Rome Braves. I went to a lot of Lexington Legends games in those years. It’s wild how Atlanta chose Jason Heyward and Freddie Freeman back to back in the 2007 MLB Draft. That when the dust settled Freeman was the much bigger star. The downturn in the minors really is a tragedy. A whole lot of fans really loved their teams. Lexington kept a team, but not an MiLB one. And just leaving the South Atlantic League did it for me. Anyways, great video.

This was really well done. Good reminder to any fans who think the Braves just dumped Freddie. They had two options: re-sign him or trade for Olson and AA couldn't risk waiting any longer.

The biggest tragedy of this process was a footnote in this video; how the Rays were played and led on. The Rays matched the Dodgers offer and did not pursue any other first basemen that year which is curious for the often savvy Rays front office. The legit and serious pursuit of Freeman was met with mockery and the aftermath has been heart wrenching, in terms of baseball things.

As a lifelong Braves fan, I love Freddie and he was a great loss. But Olson is a class act and an excellent first baseman. The era of Freddie is gone and done and the era of Olson is here. He may lack Freddie's contact, but he's got great power.

Shit still breaks my heart man. Freddie was supposed to be a Brave for life, but like I said when it happened, just like I said when Dansby left, if these guys wanted to be Braves they would be Braves.

I miss Freddie so much. Been a die hard braves fan for my entire life and I still can’t believe we didn’t get Freddie.

It’s 2024, as a big Braves fan, I’m still so mad at Casey Close!! And still incredibly sad bc of his loss on the team! I love Matt Olson, but no one can replace Freeman!!
