  • In the 4th episode of our New Zealand mothership kayak fishing adventure, we've just weathered the storm of the century and are finally able to get out. We're taking this new group of clients 70 miles off the coast of Auckland to deep sea kayak fish for giant fish, all while living aboard a small fishing vessel called the Bounty Hunter.

    My first time Kayaking and this Kayak held strong. th-cam.com/users/postUgkx4k5UrhC3v_Y4hIEaXLGvHcN5a5aBmZNB The water got pretty rough as a speed boat zipped by me, and the Kayak withstood it (I expected to be capsized). The Ores are very easy to put together, the pump worked beautifully. the seats are a bit hard to sit in after a while (I recommend sitting on the floor). after reading the reviews I was very scared it'd get a hole in it, the material is very strong and durable. The Air valve may need a small Phillips head screwdriver to adjust, other than that, it's well worth the money!(update)I've gone Kayaking in 3 Lakes and 2 rivers totaling about 40 miles. the kayak had two holes and they patched easily and no other problems can't wait for kayaking season this year!

    My wife I went to NZ at the very beginning of 2020 for a few weeks before all the Covid shutdown nonsense. I was blessed to get out on a couple of charters and caught a lot of strange (to me fish) which I will never forget. Great memories and this brought a lot of them back. Sensational country, with wonderful people, fantastic food, beautiful scenery, great outdoors, and a lunatic government lol. Great video and you make me want to go back.

      We were there at the beginning of 2020 as well and made it back right as everything started shutting down. We got off the boat after 8 days and thought the zombie apocalypse had hit

    Yup Great fishing and being a Kiwi I appreciate the responsible catch and release of the over catch. The one thing I hope you consider next time is that released fish have a much better survival rate if you do not slide your fingers inside there gill plate, as touching the gills with anything considerably decreases the ability to process oxygen. Keep up the amazing advert for our beautiful country. Cheers!!

    • @YakFishField
      @YakFishField  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I hear ya brother. I’m very careful not to touch the red gills. These fish are damn near impossible to handle in the kayak otherwise.

      @@YakFishField Cheers Bro keep the good fishing up.I worked on deep sea trawlers down the south Island for 10 years and during the hoki spawn the boats are followed by GIANT Blue fin Tuna. We could look over the side and honestly there were hundreds. Don't know if you are in to catching real monsters but the hook ups are guaranteed landing the 200kg monsters are not.
