The slider style switch keeps the circuit closed so the flasher 'knows' which side to send the electrons. What about push button switches?

Question: does it matter whether it's a positive ground or negative ground system? I just installed flashers on my old Triumph motorcycle (positive ground) as per this diagram and the left/right signals work fine, but they don't flash. When I hook the 2-pin flasher relay up to a 12V power source, it beeps continuously. All the parts are new.

old bullet is also positive ground.

Fixed? Did you change out all incandescents in the dash? Try it without the dash bulb installed. Just to see.
