The boardwalk is such an integral part of Wildwood history. If my memory serves me right, back in the '80s and '90s there was a lot of talk about creating an offshoot of the present boardwalk that ran closer to the ocean--kinda like a parallel boardwalk. They even talked about a trolley line along the beach. At the time, I thought it was an awesome idea, but the funding never materialized, and here we are 40 years later with a huge renovation of the original.
As always, Joey, thank you for a very interesting video now I know why the hotspot camera is down. Kinda lonely up here north without you guys down south stay well until the next video.
8:30 Someone needs to start a campaign to restore the Bobby Rydell mural on the monster truck building! He does not deserve to be looking like that after everything he did for the Wildwoods!
I agree, either fix it or paint over it. I really wanted rio grande renamed to Bobby Rydell Blvd back when they had the contest, and they choose Beach Ball blvd(or something like that) that no one seemed to want to admit voting for.
Wow, I’m glad they’re doing this but also a bit sad at the same time. It’s definitely gonna be pretty crazy when all the trolley tracks are gone. Also, isn’t it five years? If they start in 2020 this will be the fifth off-season of the project.
Nice video Joey and the seagull shots came out nice and smooth! Do you know if they will be doing that small “widening” for this section that they did for some of it last year?
From what I have heard, expanding the boardwalk is a lot more involved and time consuming for the permitting process with the State. Since they are just rebuilding existing boardwalk the permit process is quicker and easier. wildwood probably would not be doing any boardwalk work this off season waiting for permits to widen the boardwalk. Also if the grant money received for boardwalk rebuilding is time sensitive, meaning it needs to be used by a certain date, Wildwood may lose the grant money for this year if they do no work. Sounds like widening the boardwalk is a future phase.
Let's get Joey to 100 k!

Why didn’t North Wildwood start their repairs at 26th street in stead of 16th street?

Btw as of 11/12/2024 North Wildwood hasn’t even started any of the boardwalk replacement! WTH
Are they going to widen the width of the boardwalk in this phase?
that hasn't been approved yet by the state so not yet
What part of the boardwalk is closed? We are on our way there for vacation....
Again. Wow
they always replace parts of the boardwalk every year
Isn't this part of the boardwalk supposed to be widened?

Aren’t the trolley tracks the concrete sections in between the boards on certain sections of the boardwalk or something different?
2:53 Joey, get yourself a helmet!
Joey, what happened to your TESLA drone??
