This was pretty darn epic -- not only in the physical feat of moving all that wood, but also in the precision of your footings that allowed the arch to fit in their new home.
Having worked alone for much of my career, you develop a fine sense of leverage points and a creative use of cribbing. You find that you don't need an "attaboy" for doing a job, the satisfaction of doing it well is sufficient.
Oh man! That was probably the craziest thing I’ve seen you tackle by yourself. Glad you got it up there without issue. Take care, enjoy those sunsets and boat rides!
Gobsmacked, is all I can say ! Totally impressed by your precision and dedication to detail, which makes it LOOK so easy. Great feeling when it just dropped into place, on the new footings ! Impressed !
I have been out of work for seven months with four bad discs and you just put three of them into spasm watching you lift that end piece into place. I was reaching through the screen to help you! Stirling work yet again. Really enjoying these videos and keep stretching your back.
Jesse, your tenacity is overwhelming. There is no other explanation for it than the pure personal satisfaction of building your dream for you and your family. The video is awesome and your ways to implement on the fly are impressive. As you finalize the amazing place don't get complacent and hurt yourself where you cannot enjoy it (Sorry, just some old man whose been there advice). It has been a fantastic journey to watch you and how you make questionably possible things become possible. With Great Respect and Admiration, Jack
That wasn't the sound of creaking lumber, it was my back watching him. Great effort and precise measuring. Bravo samurai. I bet you're glad that's done.
Of all the incredible projects I’ve seen you do, moving the boardwalk by yourself was truly impressive. But, we all love you man so maybe next time wait for some help. Waiting for medical assistance all alone out there might take to long. Glad you didn’t get hurt. Stay safe and thanks for all the inspiration. God bless you and yours.
I realize it's probably not the done thing on TH-cam video, but whenever I was moving stuff that was to heavy I found that much profanity and anger worked wonders. Regards Jim UK.
This was an example of the old six “P” principle executed at it most awesomeness.. and I refer to the new footings. For the uneducated, put simply the six “P” principle, = “Prior Planning Prevents Piss Poor Performance” My respect for this young man continues to grow 🇦🇺
Outstanding!!! Jesse, your goofy antics aside (which I wholeheartedly endorse and enjoy!), you are BY FAR the most detail oriented and accurate craftsman I've ever seen. Well done again Sir!
I was so impressed with what you did…. BY YOURSELF! To have the strength to wrestle those beams into place is one thing, but this is how hernias get developed. I sure hope you’re okay. So if you didn’t get injured in anyway, you are a MAN! Jesse that was one feat of strength there. Wow! The fit? But of course, it was the “Samurai” figuring the measurements… piece of cake… well done !
Oh God I wanted to jump in and help you move that beam onto the pillars. Congrats. You are one hell of a carpenter/woodwright and whatever other title you fit into.
Yeah, talk to his back tomorrow. Dude your body remembers what you force it to do. Crazy feats for certain. Nobody would call you Shirley if you had had some help. Testosterone poisoning can kill you Samauri. Sorry I had to be the Mama Bear here. Save something for the next two decades. That place doesn’t look to be wheelchair compliant.
That’s so true…. I’ve always said, “It’s not the age, but the miles”. All my problems in my old age are directly pointing to all the times I overdid it in my youth.
Carl, I bet you and Adam (cameraman) just like me, was waiting for Jesse to fall into the lake. 😄 Will we soon see some new content on your channel Carl?
That was impressive. I was hogging with you to get that bent over and up. Property lines: In the 90s in Castro Valley, CA, I built a gambrel shop for a guy that was 40 by 20. It was almost a barn. It was close to a steep ravine that led down to a creek. He was building without permits. Before we started, I kept asking him, "Are you sure you don't want to locate this away from the creek a little more?" One of his neighbors reported him and he had to move the the thing something like 50 feet or so. I only heard about it when I ran into the guy a few years later.
No matter how many times I see it I just can't get enough of that view! You picked an amazing spot for your cabin. Nice work on the, never thought you would get so much accomplished that quickly.
I was trying to pay attention to this amazing feat, but that view! Nice work. I'm used to having to work alone on my projects, so we have to figure it out. At least you didn't get injured. Thanks for sharing!
Amazing, great job. As someone who worked alone many time I really respect you moving the landing and most of all it fit. Nothing worst than relocating something and being off an inch which would have been easy to do.
Jesse I promise I was doing everything I could to help. I even got up out of my chair, stood on my tiptoes, and held my tablet as high as I could toward the sky in order to assist. Fortunately you did everything I couldn't.
Watch yourself mate, I used to be in the building game, injured myself some, in the 80's fell off a roof and fractured my left ankle and fractures don't heal, just get osteo arthritis, in 1995 was put on a disability pension, I'm 72 now pensioned off and everything hurts, g'day from Australia
Respect! you can hide so much in a finished product - as so much isn't seen by the customer - it's only when you take it apart can you see how well it was made.
that was a lot of hard work for a single day man you are really determined. I need to learn that from you and the location of the pier is better in my opinion.
Atta boy SamUrai! Its nice when you have that experience that you know you are capable of doing it without help and without hurting yourself. just like the Pioneers, they just had to do it. Loving the Videos, and lots more to come which is very exciting, Enjoy Man!
I like this video because it brings to mind all the many times I've struggled through a solo project that would have been trivial with a second person.
I just watched a “Smarter Every Day” video about measuring the James Webb Telescope shield down to 3 thousandths of an inch accuracy with lasers, and somehow the holes lining up here impressed me even more…
I liked the "Cornholio" ending footage! Excellent!
This was pretty darn epic -- not only in the physical feat of moving all that wood, but also in the precision of your footings that allowed the arch to fit in their new home.
Well put. Very impressive!
Samurai Carpenter and Shoyan Japanese Carpenter are the two best build channels on You Tube.👍👍👍
Having worked alone for much of my career, you develop a fine sense of leverage points and a creative use of cribbing. You find that you don't need an "attaboy" for doing a job, the satisfaction of doing it well is sufficient.
Feel like I heard another youtuber say "Be a man, do it by yourself and throw your back out" :)
You’re absolutely right. Nailing the footings twice, dead nuts, is Samurai level all the way. Your work is gorgeous. Love the series. Cheers.
YOU DID IT, and your fingers never left your hands🤣
"At least I'm not dead or injured..." Yeah that is always the success metric of my projects!! Pissing myself here.
Привет из Казахстана,.Давно смотрю ваше видео.Вы красиво,с душой занимаетесь работой.А вид...просто шикарный.удачи вам,здоровья и почаще встречи .
Oh man! That was probably the craziest thing I’ve seen you tackle by yourself. Glad you got it up there without issue. Take care, enjoy those sunsets and boat rides!
new location for your boardwalk looks and fits even better
Gobsmacked, is all I can say !
Totally impressed by your precision and dedication to detail, which makes it LOOK so easy.
Great feeling when it just dropped into place, on the new footings !
Impressed !
This is the best content on you tube at the moment. I think it mainly the background view and the lapping water
Excellent work, and I have to say the new view from that angle is epic, and obviously meant to be.
I have been out of work for seven months with four bad discs and you just put three of them into spasm watching you lift that end piece into place. I was reaching through the screen to help you! Stirling work yet again. Really enjoying these videos and keep stretching your back.
As a past graphic artist, I can see the relationship of the wood surfaces to the horizon way back ….. PERFECT. Eyes don’t lie.

Ahhh the joys of being a one man band! I need to go take some ibuprofen after watching that one! Respect!

You've built yourself an admirable educational enterprise! Beautiful to see "the coast". Hello from Alberta 👍🇨🇦😎🌲🌊🌿
I realize it's probably not the done thing on TH-cam video, but whenever I was moving stuff that was to heavy I found that much profanity and anger worked wonders. Regards Jim UK.
May "the force" (your strength) be with you. Awesome build. 👍👍👍
So rewarding seeing a Master Craftsman at work (and play).

That was incredible.. some guys (you) are just made strong thanks for not giving up your an inspiration...what a true Canadian
Outstanding!!! Jesse, your goofy antics aside (which I wholeheartedly endorse and enjoy!), you are BY FAR the most detail oriented and accurate craftsman I've ever seen. Well done again Sir!
Loved the Samurai Face while you moved that pier support! :)
Moving heavy timbers solo is tough. Well done muscling all those parts into place. Love the fit and tie down on the big trestle up front; very solid

From now on you will go by the name the Samurai Hulk Carpenter. Big respect.
You are one crazy brave man doing all that by yourself, amazing
Few things I despise more in this world more than disassembling hard work, only to re-do it again. Your fortitude is inspiring my man.
Well done, glad you did not get hurt. It's very weird, isn't it, undoing your own work. I hate when that happens.
Impressive 🙂👍 Obi One has taught you well.
16:10 the samurai going back for that drill bit to make life easier lol
Oh God I wanted to jump in and help you move that beam onto the pillars. Congrats. You are one hell of a carpenter/woodwright and whatever other title you fit into.
that went far too easy for my liking 😁
Yeah, talk to his back tomorrow. Dude your body remembers what you force it to do. Crazy feats for certain. Nobody would call you Shirley if you had had some help. Testosterone poisoning can kill you Samauri. Sorry I had to be the Mama Bear here. Save something for the next two decades. That place doesn’t look to be wheelchair compliant.
I hope he follows your work also carl as that is amazing also.

Carl, I bet you and Adam (cameraman) just like me, was waiting for Jesse to fall into the lake. 😄 Will we soon see some new content on your channel Carl?
Holy smokes Samurai, I was absolutely exhausted watching you lift those beams onto those pedestals. I think I need a cocktail now.
That’s one helluva days work Jessie! You da man!
Jesse is an extremely competent badass...Period!
Christ man! I was knackered just watching you. Hats off dude 👍
That was impressive. I was hogging with you to get that bent over and up. Property lines: In the 90s in Castro Valley, CA, I built a gambrel shop for a guy that was 40 by 20. It was almost a barn. Damn Samurai, that was beast mode. I was hurting just watching you but wished I was there to help you.
The montage around 12:00 lifting the timber frame onto the new footings had some real "karate kid jump kicking on beach pilings" vibe 🥋
Yes I agree that’s pretty dang good for a days work.
I felt your pain, having to move this. Now that it's done, can we talk about when we're siding the cabin?
I kind of hope he does that last, like a coat of fresh paint at the end!
We is plural. You offering to help?
Great job knew you could do it. And it was probably the fast most efficient way to move it too.
Easy to check your level at 12:30 against the opposite shoreline…WOW, appears spot on! Good job piers and legs!
That's a really big spirit level!
Well done so far! Stay safe. 🇩🇪
Quite the project, quite the effort!
What a stunning place...
New 40v drill too! Treats!
Talented AF! Keep it up man, love watching!
Amazing…. Watching it come apart shows the same exact level of work that putting it all together showed. Great work Samurai!
No matter how many times I see it I just can't get enough of that view! You picked an amazing spot for your cabin.
Nice work on the, never thought you would get so much accomplished that quickly.
Well done Samurai!
That ending was the cherry on top
I like the new placement
I was trying to pay attention to this amazing feat, but that view!
Nice work. I'm used to having to work alone on my projects, so we have to figure it out. At least you didn't get injured. Thanks for sharing!
nice deck man somthing to be proude off just like all of your projects keep on going
Amazing, great job. As someone who worked alone many time I really respect you moving the landing and most of all it fit. Nothing worst than relocating something and being off an inch which would have been easy to do.
Nice job! Love the look of the arch on the pilings!
Oh my gosh…I held my breath watching parts of this….awesome recovery on the near swims🥴😉…it must feel great getting that job down🙋🏻♀️🇬🇧💕jane
You are doing well Pilgrim.
Jesse I promise I was doing everything I could to help. I even got up out of my chair, stood on my tiptoes, and held my tablet as high as I could toward the sky in order to assist. Fortunately you did everything I couldn't.
Superhuman effort Dude.
The labors Hercules. Nice work, man.

Atta boy SamUrai! Its nice when you have that experience that you know you are capable of doing it without help and without hurting yourself. just like the Pioneers, they just had to do it. Loving the Videos, and lots more to come which is very exciting, Enjoy Man!
I wish I could've been there to help you out. I'm exhausted just watching you from my couch.
Well done Jesse! Those are some hefty timbers.
I like this video because it brings to mind all the many times I've struggled through a solo project that would have been trivial with a second person.
Impressive that the holes lined up perfectly. Really felt the struggle getting that on there haha.
I was expecting it to be off by an annoying 1/2" the whole time but when it slipped in I was very impressed. Well done Jesse!
I just watched a “Smarter Every Day” video about measuring the James Webb Telescope shield down to 3 thousandths of an inch accuracy with lasers, and somehow the holes lining up here impressed me even more…
Respect The Samurai!!!!
Que lugar lindo!
