Necrotic Nick- When it comes down to most of what 20 Buck Spin is known for this is a nice break from that. I dig this band's sound over all and they still have some of the old school riffiness to them.
@@thrallsofmetal listened to the full album and all i can say its a hard slap in the face! Really good! I love how the transitions are done from dissonant to melodic to techy riffs and so on. I bought the album as soon as i finished. Thanks for the review. I know i'll listen to this album/band a lot from now on.🤘
This album is fantastic, and I'm honestly a big fan of the artwork as well. Just a thought but a video on you and the boys' favorite album covers would be cool.
Necrotic Nick- It's another killer piece by Eliran Kantor. That dude has done so may killer album covers here lately. He's like this generations' Dan Seagrave... which to be fair Seagrave is still this generations' Seagrave but Kantor is right up there. I've thought about that one but I might be the only one that is a giant album art fanboy in terms of favorite covers and such. It may happen though.
Been sleeping on this one, I've just listened to it and dig it immensely, I'm pretty picky with the techy stuff as I'm more an old school guy, but this is incredibly well played and has some killer grooves which totally won me over. Love that album art too!
Necrotic Nick- I jammed a track on TH-cam when it premiered and I really dug. It's a very different kind of release from 20 Buck Spin too. It definitely has a lot of old school nods in it but also a fiercely modern sound as well. Eliran Kantor has been killing it when it comes down to album art lately. He might be rivaling Seagrave for most epic album covers of the past couple of years.
Nick, do you know Theory in Practice? A Swedish technical death metal band. Colonizing the Sun might be something to cover with Shredlord and the Thralls! \m/
Necrotic Nick- This has been quite a year for death metal and it's been difficult to keep up with all the killer death metal coming out. This year end list is going to be tough.
This was a surprise for me, musically I thought it was superb. I can see how the tracks could blend together, but I wasn't complaining too much about it. The vocals were the only thing that let it down for me, his super low gutturals got a little annoying sometimes. That being said I don't always pay attention to vocals when it comes to death metal anyway, the Trevor Strnad style screams were a real cool addition to the sound and a good break from the low, guttural stuff. Overall I thought it was pretty damn awesome, yet another new band that I've become a fan of through you guys! 🤘 Just as a side note, have you guys heard of the band Alta? Their newest album got released the same day as this and it's pretty damn good. Black metal with some really cool folky/acoustic moments on it. Weirdly a very pretty album, for a black metal album anyway 🤣
Necrotic Nick- Glad you dug the review and the album, bro! I didn't have a problem with the low growls. He kinda reminded me of Frank Mullen on Effigy of the Forgotten a bit but mostly I dug the fact they found a sweet spot between old school death metal and modern, more techy death metal. This is still techy but they know how to lay down some riffy hooks when they need to. I haven't heard of Alta but I may check it out because that does sound kinda interesting.
Necrotic Nick- I like that it gets technical but it doesn't descend into wankery where it's just noodling and showboating. It still packs catchy riffs and solid grooves to latch on to.
I mean, great you are reviewing this, but I am getting a little annoyed about the lack of info relating to a new Cynic album. I love your channel, but this is really beginning to bug me.
