    Nice job with all the finished and being over achievers with your WIP go boards. I have a supply of Pat Carson, Piecemakers , Bohin, John James, Tulip and freebies in various sizes that depends on the fabric type and size. If I start a project and don’t like the feel of the needle I’ll go find another that works for the project. The only one I don’t like is the ball tip ones! I’ve been known to have a favorite needle that I’ve worn the finish off of for using it so much. I know some people are quick to discard them but I’ll use mine forever!

I always look forward to watching the two of you. One of these Fridays I'm going to drive over to see you at Persnickety. Have a great couple of weeks and 🙏🏼 for snow. Happy Stitching. ❤❤❤❤

    Congratulations on your FFOs! So many cute finishes, and I bet it feels great getting things finally finished :) Jen, I love the color you chose for the Silver Creek Samplers freebie 😍 Carol, congratulations on your socks knitting finish, too! I hope you both stay warm and have a great rest of your week. Happy stitching! (Oh, also - I prefer the ball-tip needles in a size 28!)

    Great fun video as always. Congrats on your FFO’s gals. Well done. Love your socks, Carol. I think if I’ve had to buy needles, which I pick up a pack off and on, I buy Bohnin. I think they work just fine. Have a fun stitchy 2 weeks.

    Hi ladies!!!! Thanks for another fun flosstube 😊. Loved seeing all your finishes!!! Boy, I need someone to hold my hand and get some FFO’d. My needle preference was always Pat Carson 😢. I have now moved on to Piecemakers. I mostly use 28ct. (Jennifer, just to add to your stats: I do not enjoy working with petite needles 😂).

    The categories for the not fully finished projects are awesome, as was the look on Carol's face when Jen said three people had over 100! Y'all definitely kept me grinning throughout the video!! Good on you both for all the progress you made on all the things! I used to have a favorite 28 petite, available only from Nordic Needle, but now that NN has closed and I've finally used up my stash of those, I will use almost any needle, including the ones from kits. I prefer 26 or 28 (unless I'm doing something on 14-count Aida and then I use a 24). I still like petites best. P.S. Carol, I think you and I are neck-and-neck in the race to finish our biscornus!!! 🤣🤣 🤣

    Hi ladies. Thanks for sharing your time with us all again. Such a fun visit, as usual. 🙂
    Great job on all the FFOs!! They came out so pretty. I know that is inspiring to so many.
    The diamond paintings surely won for grandchild of the year. Surely! 😂
    I'm with Jen on the needle question. I don't really have a preference. I do have and enjoy John James petites but I grab whatever works for the fabric. I've bought needles once because of kits also. One has a golden eye & it's lovely for 14/16 count.
    Happy stitching.

    Good Morning! As always, enjoyed your flosstube. I am a size 28 needle, and sometimes a petite 28. I bought some @ Michaels , DMC brand a few years back and haven't found them again. Nothing else has been exactly the same. Of course, I'm out of those!

    I have never been fussy about my needles - used whatever I had. Recently discovered Pat Carson size 26 and I love those - until my stock lasts. Mainly like using size 26 and 28. Been trying a few different brands of size 28 (still on the fence).

  • @sallydiehm9327
    @sallydiehm9327 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I usually just pick up the DMC needles at Michael's when buying floss. I use 28's mostly on 32 count and 24 on 14 count Aida. Kit needles are always good. I also rarely retire a needle unless the eye is snagging the thread! And yes, I did milk goats twice a day for years. Thanks for another lovely video.

  • @marleenoceanbreeze6510

    Love your quilt, Jennifer, and the cardinal pillow is adorable. Carol, congrats on the socks (anything with sparkle is a good thing). The piece you're stitching with the light green variegated Sulky looks perfect, the colour is so pretty. I think the Princess should get the top grandchild award. Those diamond paintings are wonderful, what a lovely gift. I'm sorry to hear you have 3 insane viewers - who have fully finished everything they've stitched. I hope they're getting treatment. Needles are the one thing I've never paid much attention to, guess whatever I've used has always felt comfortable. Mostly they've been John James, Bohin, an occasional DMC, and whatever type comes with kits. I mostly stitch on 32ct so needles are 26 (I think?). Whatever size, as long as they don't drop on the floor, and end up stabbing me in the foot, I'm happy 😁 Good luck at the doctor, Carol. Take care, and happy stitching.

    I asked earlier about a mother daughter, new flosstube that I found, then lost before I subscribed. Two Needles Pulling Thread responded. They know them, and they’re from Maine. I forget again their name but I was able to find and subscribe. Might be b & e or e & b? I loved this video. You’re so enjoyable. Hope you have no trouble now with kidney stone. I am a snow lover too. In western MD almost no snow. I’d like some 6-8” snows. I won’t hold my breath. But winter is still with us. 🌲🌲⛄️⛄️⛄️⭐️

    Hello! I really liked all your FFOs! I'm so behind getting things completed this year. (Although it's only Feb) . I don't have a favorite needle brand. It depends what count I'm working on as to the size of needle. I have a small drawer to keep different needles for different purposes. I quilt, bead and cross-stitch. I became more stitchy active since I retired from my last job of 29 yrs and am loving the time I get to create things. Although I'm grandma daycare now and granddog walker. My pay is a hug from my granddaughter and a lick from the dog! 😆

  • @margaretblank9351
    @margaretblank9351 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    P.S. Re: the question of the day: I never used to pay attention to needle sizes (for stitching) -- just how they felt in my hand. That said, In the last year or so I've paid attention to size -- mainly so I could replace ones that were lost or broken (eyes can crack). I like a #26 tapestry needle best, but will use a #24 if the fabric is heavier -- eg. 14-count aida versus linen, or a 22-count even-weave. I find the #26 works well from 28-count on up to 40 count. My eyes wouldn't take 46 or higher, so that's not an issue!

    I'm not too particular about my needles. Most of my needles are from kits as well. I do buy John James size 26 and they work fine for me. However, I recently started stitching a kit I bought from Nitka a few years ago, and the needles included in that kit are really awesome. I wish I knew which brand they are. So Jenn, I've not done any ffo-ing, but I've gotten a few FOs in January. This has knocked me out of your "Lots" category from this week's chart into the "Oh wow" section. I need a finisher!! Hope you get some snow...as long as it stays in the Midwest and avoids the East Coast 😂

    Thank you for answering my question about wall hanging hardware. I’ll check them out. I still have a couple of those Scandinavia brass hangers from 20-30 years ago! Needles: I like 28 needles - Bohin and John James are nice, but my new favorites are Piecemakers. They’re a little shorter than the other two (but not as short as the petites). I can feel the difference when I pick them up. I still have about 4 John James petites, which I only use when I’m trying to use the last bit of thread.

    Loved your stitching! Loved the comment “grandchild of the year”. As far as needles, I love “perfect needle” unfortunately they are no longer made but I have a nice stash of these. I also liked Pat Carson needles. I am also using Piecemakers. I use all sizes depending on my fabric. When I first started stitching I would just use needles that came with the kit and then I started buying John James but when I found the “perfect needle”. I would buy them whenever I saw them they came 2 in a little case. I have about 10 little cases that I haven’t opened yet.

    Those spammers are everywhere! I have tried reporting them and, at first, it goes away, them it pops right back. They are tenacious! A shame they can’t do something good and constructive with there tech knowledge. I will ignore them and just enjoy all your videos sharing your talents. Jennifer, your quilt is beautiful. Love all the cross stitch pieces, too. Wish you didn’t have those darn kidney stones. Hope you can find some relief. I thoroughly enjoy your rapport with each other. Whell . . . that was a lot of beautiful stitching. I was LMAO when you so casually mentioned that you'd hang the washing pieces in the laundry room, and when the door opened or closed they would fall to the floor. Oh my goodness. I don't know why, it just made me giggle!!! Needles? I seem to gravitate toward Piecemakers. I thought I liked Bohin, but it seemed like the eye of the needle was not smooth and was fraying my floss. I tried a ball tip needle also. I didn't like it. I found it very difficult to bury a thread on the back of my work with that ball on the tip. I've used John James too. But, I would say Piecemakers for the win. Keep up the great finishing Carol and Jennifer. Looking forward to your next video.

    I definitely favor a 26 petite needle in my stitching. I keep going back to them. I have no idea what brand they are as I have had them forever. I guess I am easy on my needles. I stitch in hand and I have never used up a needle. I'm more likely to lose them then to retire them.

    I was never a needle snob until I tried John James 26. I love John James and it was a real eye opener for me to discover that there is a difference in needles. I now only use John James although I sometimes use a 28 instead of a 26.

    Bohin size 28 are my favorite needles. I think they're easy to thread. Great finishes ladies. Have a great week! Bring on the snow!

    😀💕 Thank you for shouting me out on your channel! That was fun! Made me feel somewhat famous! 😁 I guess I'd better get back into FFO mode! Seriously, the challenge is exactly what I needed! Back to watching the video!!

    You cracked me up when you said you were a good driver but crappy wife. And I will have to steal your "grandchild of the year" award idea and the quote, my iron is on strike". That was a hoot!!! Love them all. Also your #1 Flosstube showed up on my feed and it says it was 1 year ago? I like the Bohin 26 or 28 needles depending on my fabric count. Hobby Lobby has a cute little compact case complete with scissors, needles, etc. for about $6 that is great to keep in your car or purse, just in case. I think I showed mine last summer on my Flosstube and it was a bee case. I love the delightful daughter!!! Happy FFOing!!! They were all amazing, but the cardinal was my favorite!. Dottie

      Hi Dottie - strange that it should say a year ago, because we are about to round the corner on the end of two years - maybe it will switch over then? Great idea to grab that compact case for car or purse.

    Thank you for sharing with us!!💚 and thank you again, Jen, for our FFO challenge!! I get so frustrated with needles!! I am one of those people that the finish wears off quickly. So you both said you use needles out of kits - I’m lucky if the needle will last through the kit! Current favorite is Piecemakers size 28. Love that it is petite. Pat Carson needles are a little long for my preference. And Bohin are way too thin - I bend them very easily.

      So strange that some people wear off the finish and others don't - must be differences in our body oils? We will have lots of ideas for new brands to try!

    I enjoy your videos sooo much. Love seeing all your projects today. I don’t have a preference for needles, like Jenna it’s what I pick up at the time of stitching.

    Hi Jen and Carol! Love your videos! You two are great together and get quite a bit done! I'm wondering, my friend, Jeannie and I (LeAnn) have our own little flosstube also called Loose Thread Stitchers. We are both cross stitchers and quilt makers. We have a problem showing our big quilts. I am wondering if you would mind if we use a big hanger like you do to show a big quilt once and a while? We won't use your "Quilt of the Day" title as I feel that is yours. I have been racking my brain trying to figure out how to better show our big quilts, then I saw your hanger. Genius! We have a little bit different format than you. We show cross stitch first and then quilts at the end so that is when we would talk about the quilt hanging behind us. We both have been quilting for about 40 years and have lots of big quilts to show, but have been struggling to figure out how best to show them. If this is not okay with you, we won't do that. This community is so great, I don't want to upset anyone. Thank you for considering it! Keep the videos coming! Carol, I hope you can get a dog soon!

      Hi LeAnn - we would be thrilled if you used a quilt stand to show your quilts in your flosstube! We struggled with the same thing when started and I saw an article online about quilt photography and thought hmmm, that could work for flosstube too! I got the stand on amazon and it is a great one. Look forward to seeing what you share.

    Funny, this past week I caught up on ALL my mending! Yea me!
    Yes, I liked the Pat Carson needles, so sad... I do have several ball tip so 26 is the size I normally use! And yes I use for mending too so I don't bleed on my fabric😁

    I like pat’s size 28. I still have 20 stashed away, then I’ll have to choose a new needle brand, so definitely reading comments for ideas. I’m wondering what size stitching project you would consider small, medium and large. My husband was asking if I had any large projects going and I thought my 9x12 prairie schooler is large but maybe it’s medium.

    • @twotallstitchers

      Good question Joy - I think it is a mix of size and density - I’d say my Paris piece is small, but it has way more stitches than projects that are a lot bigger.

    I am very behind in flosstube commenting but just wanted to squeak in before the next episode and tell you 2 how much I enjoyed your last video. Pat’s Favorite needles, size 26, were my favorites too. Now I have moved on to Bohin size 26. Or Bohin size 24 for 32 ct and lower. Love you both! 💚

    I am new to your channel and really enjoyed watching! I’m going to have to binge watch the rest! Right now I am hooked on Piecemakers 26 or 28’s. I bend Bohins too easily. The DMC needles seem too sharp to me-I poke myself a lot. LOL Fat Quarter Shop has a new one called Heritage I want to try, but I can’t catch them in stock. So Piecemakers it is for now!!

    Do you know anything about a new mother and daughter flosstube? I watched it, lost it before subscribing, and now I can’t find it! Do you happen to know their flosstube name? I will be watching yours but wanted to ask my question before I forgot!

      One other thought Gerry - you can always go to your youtube history to see what you've watched. That's how I find people when I forget the name ;)

    Thanks again for another great FlossTube -- you always make me smile. I've been binding a comfort quilt as I watched this afternoon. (It's a treat I'm giving myself before I go out to shovel the snow that fell overnight and through this a.m.) Love the shop model finishes. You mentioned that you felt you got sharper corners with glue than the stitchers' tape...but I wondered. Your taped model was stitched on 32-count Belfast linen; your glued model, on 28-count Lugana -- which is a rayon/cotton blend and a stiffer fabric than the linen. Just wondering...if you try tape on Lugana next time, would the corners be as sharp? If you try glue on that 32-count linen, would the corners still be soft? It might be the fabric and not the adhesive. Just a thought... 😊

    • @twotallstitchers
      @twotallstitchers  ปีที่แล้ว

      Great point Margaret - I didn't even think of the different fabrics being the culprit vs. the method used to attach them...now you've got me thinking!
