onkar phall theres a nice example for this. in germany there was a laboratory accident. a guy catched on fire and burned to his death. the problem was that the people that designed the emergency shower had designed it with 2 chains. he pulled the wrong one it broke and he died in pain. later researches showed that the shower was fully operational. it was just the wrong chain. design flaws like this can happen......

Ok, sure, this video isn't a scientific test of a Tesla's safety sensors, and shows it competing with Gordon Ramsey's chopping abilities, but it proves that the Tesla, European one maybe, can probably injure someone's fingers or hand or foot. Next time a child or I get into a Tesla, I will be much more careful to check the doors are clear before closing!

It's interesting that the doors really are different in Europe. In the U.S. there's a rubber switch strip around the bottom half of the falcon wing doors that stops them as soon as anything presses them. It's similar to the sensors in elevator doors. What really surprises me is that those sensors are on the door rather than around the frame mounted to the vehicle instead. If they were on the car instead of the door, your various appendages would be more likely to touch them and trigger them. By mounting them on the door when your hands will more likely be touching the door frame on the car, it makes them not trigger until your hands/fingers/sausages get smashed and bent out of shape enough to reach them. Obviously this is irrelevant in Europe since they lack those sensor strips but still. But more importantly, if you wanted to do a much more representative test, I'd recommend (especially since you mentioned BBQ) using some beef ribs or something where they're covered in meat but have a bone center. That would much more accurately model a human hand or finger than fruits and vegetables or sausages that have nothing hard inside. You'd probably want to cut them apart into 1-2 rib slices for a good test. And I *_STILL_* wouldn't put my hands or anything in there even if the tests were "successful"!
