They will just wait for each other, the sensor will sense movement and wait until the movement stopped so the car that opens first will open and the other car will wait.
Your friends were hilarious. Looked like a definite successful test for the Tesla. + Falcon doors opened each time, until not enough room to walk between the cars. + But doors wouldn't open when gap too small. - Not sure why doors (for small gaps) can't raise completely once they have cleared adjacent vehicle. Although your test showed there was still plenty of room to get in. - Jurgen's butt crack (yikes) So not sure what more you were expecting..? Perhaps next week you can see if Jurgen can be squeezed into the frunk ;)
Whenever the doors sense there is a lack of space they go into this overly careful mode, you can open them the rest of the way by pressing the button on the door again. It's more interesting opening them somewhere that has low headroom and experimenting with how they go then (they generally give up and close).
doesn't raise completely most likely because sensors doesn't reach that far up and assumes if next car is that close, the vertical at the nearest pt is too close.
May not have been the best choice of words but you know it is true. I can remember being with a pack of my buddies arguing about who was going to jump off the garage roof with a bed sheet parachute first. You just don't see girls doing dumb stuff like that =)
So the only problem is that if you're the driver, the real problem is that you won't be able to open the normal FRONT doors in tight spaces and will have to crawl in from the back of the car. Or use that Tesla Summon.
Nice video as always Bjørn. What if you open the falcon wing door with no car near you, then a Model X parks fairly close next to your car and then try to close the door. Will there be problems with that?
You should do a test see what will happen if you open two model X’s read doors at the same time right next to each other ( the car on the right opens the rear left door and the car on the left opens the rear right door )
Why are they not opening all the way up, when they already past the obstacle (neighbor doors)? My X does that too and I hate it! It would be even safer when they open completely, because they couldn't eventually get in the way of your parking neighbour who is also just opening the door (at a mall parking space for example).
I figure that, because it cannot measure the distance to objects beyond a certain height, it cannot see (any higher than half the car) if there is a 'rounded car' or a wall that goes straight up. If it would open even more/higher, it would stick out more and then hit that wall.
In the comparison shot between Tesla and your closest attempts, It appears to me that Tesla parked the middle car a bit back from the other two. That would take advantage of the fact that all aerodynamically optimized automobiles (Prius,Tesla,Leaf) have a taper towards the rear quarter which would make that distance a little more than the closest apparent distance. I noted from the Model 3 handbook just published that the shoulder width measurement, inside of the door to the other door. is less for the back seat passengers.
Even if you can't possibly open the gull doors, the car has a summon feature which will move the car out of the parking space into the clear. That's the Batmobile right there!
LOL! Sleeping with the X! That was funny! Great video! That’s pretty cool! Love the Hillbilly music while your moving the cars! Again love this channel!
As far as I know there are sensors inside the falcon doors to measure the surroundings, thus it won't open eg. if you park close to a wall. Same goes for the highest position it will open up to. This is for low ceiling garages. You have to say: Tesla took everything into consideration. :o)
This great test misses one important thing though. What about the automatically opening doors (driver and co-driver)? Do they detect cars standing close? It's a much more common situation.
How about the model X on the right open it’s left door and the model X to the left opening it’s right door?? They open to each other in a tight space.. would it work?
From what I remember in the video where you were crushing things, you said the US model has more sensors than the European that you guys have. That may be why it doesn't open in some situations where it could, just to play it safe. These are just my speculations though.
Bjørn; what if you attempt to open the FW doors on two X-es parked side by side at the same time? Also, what if you first open one car and then the other?
Great "real life test"! Btw; I would love to see if it is possible to have a Kayak rack on one side of the X roof, an if the other back door would be usable.. Any chance of a video of that? ;-)
BMW M3 S65B40 You need space in the ceiling for that. I think with that kind of ceiling construction you won't be able to fit two falcon wing style door segments onto that car (or any? is there any car with two falcon door segments?)
We're just mocking that ancient measurement system. Current imperial system is based on metric system because you can't use original foot or forearm anymore. It would be disgusting to do so anyway.
I thought he said a carpenter instead of a car painter lol. Damn English language.
eduardoig17 it was a joke!
yep me too xDD
lol i was like, wtf is a car painter doing here?
Same
Glad I'm not the only one
What happens if 2 of you open at same time?
SURE :P
I was kinda expecting this, what's the point to park 3 Model X in other case
They will just wait for each other, the sensor will sense movement and wait until the movement stopped so the car that opens first will open and the other car will wait.
a mini model x arrives in 9 months hohoho
The future!
"That's Asian Tight" "Do you want to do this without protection?"

feet, fist and inches are pre fossil measurement methods
"you wanna try 3 fists". 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Im dead.💯💯💯💯👌🏻🔥
That's Asian-tight :D
👊👊👊
For that kind of distance, I will definitely use summon to pull the car out first.
I would say they designed the Falcon Wings to open to a degree that an average sized adult can get between two cars. Great video!
The accents & commentary were the most entertaining part
2:31 Forever alone Tesla in the background.
Hafid El lol he didn’t want to do stupid stuff and get hurt and hit
Same tho
Model S
Her: He must be cheating on me....
Him:
The door hinge is in the center of the car that's why it will consume that small space.
At 0:56 Bjørn Nyland said: "Im just a hobo." You just killed me Bjørn!
6:01 "Of course, how fff... big do you think I am?" :D
Norwegian Vikings and Asian bantering in American - English slang. What a riot. Love it!
2:42 that tesla driver probably looks like ”what the hell these guys are doing, are they okay?” :D
He was one of my followers who passed by.
Model s?
This video is a classic example of why every group should include at least one woman. Men tend to do dumb shit when we "clump" lol.

@@genephipps6421 and that's why women live longer than men
Don't fret about it. we guys know just how stupid we can get when a bunch of us got together to do fun stuff.
But this is also a great example of why sometimes we need to just do what we do lol
Better than Bjorn's idea of playing Fusebox Roulette in the carpark of a Tesla Service Centre.
When I get older, I wanna got a good vibe with my friends too like yours guys 💯
Successful testing.... Like nobody has done before..... 👍
Is fun to watch this excellent video.....
Do some more awesome videos together.... 👍

What is you try to open the doors of all 3 cars in the same time?
10:44 if you press and hold the open button while it opens, you can make the door open all the way if you think it will make it.
Nordic Top Gear or The Grand Tour Viking Edition ... AWESOME Video :-)
“That measuring tool is not long enough” 😂😂
Very good to see this. I see that the summon mode was used on the right side car to get it back so the drivers door was free to enter? @7.42
But what happend if you open the FWD fully, and when it's open someone parks close to you?
What prompted you guys to get together and make this video? Very informative, by the way.
Good test, I always wondered if the Falcon doors would be a problem. Great upload.
That super tight parking you tested does occur regularly in Hong Kong actually :p
Open it in the same time 😀 by accident it could happen in real life
Bjørn Nyland, "hobo" 😂 you are Killing me
So in effect if it’s too tight use the summon function to gain entry✊
Its so nice to see 3 rich friends messing about with their Teslas i hope thats me one day !!!
I love Jørgen from Norway
Even tho i know it will stop i would never try this, but i am glad someone did.
Nice video as always Bjørn. What if you open the falcon wing door with no car near you, then a Model X parks fairly close next to your car and then try to close the door. Will there be problems with that?
alfvde yes there will. I will smash there car to pieces
Jurgen.... we miss you....

You should do a test see what will happen if you open two model X’s read doors at the same time right next to each other ( the car on the right opens the rear left door and the car on the left opens the rear right door )
If you look at the time stamp 2:32 there is a Tesla Model S in the background
Even me as a Thai person, I can't even tell that he is Thai! AMAZED!
Bjørn Nyland, "hobo" 😂😂😂
"Dead cat was on but it was damaged" hahaha! I was laughing out loud on that one :D
Netflix should offer your three your own car show.
Why are they not opening all the way up, when they already past the obstacle (neighbor doors)? My X does that too and I hate it! Good video. Still useful even now. If you try to open front doors the value of falcon wings will become more obvious.
But the problem remains how does the driver get in besides smart summon?
In the comparison shot between Tesla and your closest attempts, It appears to me that Tesla parked the middle car a bit back from the other two. That would take advantage of the fact that all aerodynamically optimized automobiles (Prius,Tesla,Leaf) have a taper towards the rear quarter which would make that distance a little more than the closest apparent distance.
I noted from the Model 3 handbook just published that the shoulder width measurement, inside of the door to the other door. is less for the back seat passengers.
can anybody explain me why do i need such amazing doors for passengers if it`s impossible to get to the driver`s seat?
Alex Mac Get in through the passenger door?....

So, what video do you first use your autopilot? I'd like to know whether it's possible / legal to use Autopilot in Norway. Thanks.

Wait instead of driving both cars closer could you just use the app to move the car?
The app can only go back and forward.

I really like Jørgen and Bjørn
I like the diversity of their accents
you should of used a think blanket and put it over one car when they were too close so even if it bumped it, it wouldnt of scratched it

yes

Why using “feet’s” in Europe? What about the International System of measures?
*feet
Wonder why they don't keep going up the whole way even after they clear the car.
You should try at hong kong carparks
Great test but i would like to see, how 3 Model X's open falcon wing door in same time in close distance. BTW "Sleeping with the X's" great! 😀😀😀

Lol~~ you guys are having so much fun... Great vid.
What happens if the other teslas open the doors too?
The sensor in the door won’t let it open if the range is too close. You don’t need to stand there and stop it, it already knows the clearances 🤣👍
