I have stopped playing with nails years ago and I am quite sure I will never come back to nails. The flesh of the fingers gives a soft and pure sound, and equalizes the sound timbres. It is more difficult, but in the end, you can do it, as perfectly shown on this lovely video. And if Sor, Tarrega, Pujol, etc., used to play without nails, it means that the best guitarists of history played with fingertip, not fingernails. Academic teachers can say and rule their schools and institutions as they want, and as they do, history tells the truth. And the truth remains.
Amazing tone, it has all the timbre i would want expect from playing with nails, without the high maintenance of keeping long nails. What guitar is that?
Amazing! After many many years as a nail player, I've switched to no nails at the beginning of this year and am not looking back! Love the softness of the tone and it feels more like a piano. Technique is more difficult and still dailing that in. Where did you get your no-nails technique? Any tips?
Sorry for the delay. Thank you. It’s very much a work in progress still. I’ve had to focus a lot on learning to move without tension since cutting off my nails. It’s more direct fingertip contact on the string generally, but I use different parts of the finger as well.
The OM Network... For more on nail-less playing .. look up Rob MacKillop on you tube and the internet. He has a web site dedicated to non nail playing.
@@jeffhildreth9244 Thats where I started my no-nails journey, after watching his videos. I couldn't how much I couldnt stand the sound of nail playing after I made the switch
what is the difference in your technique without nails? i recently cut them off and i cant seem to produce good sound because i am using the technique i used with nails...Do you push the string down before you play?
Look at replies on OM comment, they give a good resource to work with...and according to that source you are using a different hand angle and are plucking from under the string, it takes practice, but seems to be a more natural position.

The perception of sound is highly subjective .
Concerts require volume

Proof that we don’t need nails to make a great sound on classical guitar. Excellent job!
