  • JP is two and a half years old and can speak Xhosa fluently. He travels to Khayelitsha with his parent's house keeper, on a regular basis. Khayelitsha is a very dangerous area where few white people would dare to enter. Enjoy the video!!! For update and photos of JP go to: / alexxdekock

      I’m white my husband is Puerto Rican. Our kids mixed obviously. Our daughter started 6 th grade 3 yrs ago and had never heard of the N word. It’s wasn’t a discussion that ever came up because we faced racial issues when my husband and I got married 21 yrs ago. So we always taught our kids acceptance of any religion and race. In 6th grade is when kids at school started talking about it. She came home confused as to why we never discussed it with her. I asked her what she wanted to know. I answered her questions and then told her about our experience with racism. She understood why it’s wasn’t really a discussion. My husband and I don’t see color or religion we see people. We also were fortunate enough to be military and live in other countries. I love learning other cultures. Sorry so long.

      @INSANE BASTARD My ancestors were fucked over by the English as well , just like yours probably were and it was wrong but it was hundreds and hundreds of years ago and they were barbaric times compared to the relatively peaceful times we know today. The fact you even mention so called stolen land as a defence to murder innocent families sums you up as the typical braindead lefty that buys everything their corrupt leaders tell them , or you're racist.

      @INSANE BASTARD Dear god , do you people know any other rhetoric other than blaming the white man for all of Black peoples problems?. When that land was supposedly taken almost 400 years ago it was worthless soil on worthless land , and considering the times if the shoe was on the other foot there wouldn't have been a white man left alive. Now that the Boer built that land into profitable lands and created a country with all it's infrastructures you think it's just to simply hand it over to Blacks. Now what you did with my statements about the murdered white farmers is typical of your average lefty ideologist where they take what you said blow it out of proportion and attack their own statements , i never said it was a genocide but there are white farmers being murdered at an alarming rate simply for being white and working the land but of course you believe what your leaders tell you and simply agree that they are robberies because you don't want it to be anything else , and your numbers are wrong and come from corrupt sources. You mention the mighty ANC lol they're arguably one of the most corrupt Governments on Earth that don't give a shit about their fellow Blacks , you talk about numbers look into polls and how many Black people were happier under apartheid. Now continue with your pathetic insults because they mean nothing to me just like your baseless arguments that ooze ignorance , and if me not responding back to you is running scared of Black independence bahahahaha you've got more to worry about than commenting back to a TH-cam comment dipshit.

    And it's clear there is love between Portia and the little fella. I wish all children could be so blessed to learn love and acceptance from such an early age.
    Children are born with open hearts - there is nothing but love and wonder in them. Would that such open hearts remained so throughout life. Wouldn't life be better for everyone?
    It's only as some people grow up, they learn the ugly parts of life and this is the greatest sorrow.

I mean these parents are just doing what's good for their kid and for the country, it shouldn't be such a big deal? Nothing "amazing" about it? Shouldn't you be challenging us to go way further? And yet reading your warm comments I am grateful for your generosity and feel encouraged to push the limits of my comfort zone. And that tells me that we are indeed getting somewhere. This is how we build SA. Individual connections between ordinary people.

There's a lot of black people speaking English but it's not something rare, which says a lot about white people. Anyway this is a good thing for the kid, no one will speak of this kid in front of him thinking that he doesn't understand

      Or maybe white people in South Africa are usually just as racist as they were before? Judging by the title of the video I'm guessing that they're probably just as racist as they were before.

    • @WarrenBotes
      @WarrenBotes 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Apartheid ended long ago, but it created divides that still persist today. the apartheid system brainwashed both sides into thinking they shouldn't mix (it was illegal for black and white people to mix in any way other than white boss - black labourer relationship). So today you still find that blacks and whites find it difficult to integrate. the apartheid thinking has unfortunately been passed down from generation to generation, and very few, like the family in the video have been able to break away from its psychological hold. In theory most white people don't want to be racist, but many cant seem to let go of the old way of thinking. Its really frustrating, but I also took a long time to snap out of it. I am really also a recovering racist. I say that because I'm part of a system and culture that has made it very difficult for black people to take part (institutional and structural racism). SO the problem really is bigger than people just deciding not to be racist anymore (but there are some who refuse to even do that!). There's history and structures in place that will take an even longer time to overcome.

    I must applaud you for your domestic worker to speak to your son in xhosa. This is something most racist white people will not allow. For godsake, this is Africa - every white must ensure that they allow their kids to speaking one or two local languages. This is something to bridge the divide between blacks and white. Apartheid govt created their own surbubs, and their own schools, therefore no interaction with black people. The only interaction was through domestic workers, gardeners and tea-ladies who were forced to speak English or Afrikaans. I dont think many white families will allow their the domestic workers to speak to their kids in African languages. Let alone to allow their kids to go to township to interact with black people. I would also like to debunk this myth that township are dangerous. Each and every township has its own places, there are good and bad places in the township.

      it's astonishing because the white mans tongue is not as adaptive as the black mans tongue making it harder for the white man to learn native languages. the fact that this child understands and speaks this language is amazing on its own. English doesn't have regular clicks , it has singular words with often one meaning. Zulu and Xhosa (and other languages ) words have joint words and the language is sometimes hard to understand . that's what the fuck is astonishing.

    • @asisiphondlovumalunga4970
      @asisiphondlovumalunga4970 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Caiah .Savage clicks aren't hard to understand just like English isn't harder to learn sweety I speak 4 languages. No one language was easier then the other to learn because I was young when I learned those languages. also dunno why you're getting on your high little horse and getting defensive when I just asked a simple question. what's astonishing is that every day a black south african child gets belittled if their English isn't considered good. But that judgement is reserved for the white south african child who doesn't speak an African language. that's pretty astonishing.

You will be surprised this little boy father who encouraged him to speak xhosa will be the one to teach him to be racist. You can see how he destroyed Portia (the maid) hometown in the video by saying it is worst and dangerous place to live yet his son went and came back safe. No respect whatsoever

      Racism is tribalism and we can all revert back to it if we choose. It’s in us naturally from birth wether we choose to walk that path is the choice we all have to make.

    • @UP-ww9si

      INSANE BASTARD Racist behavior is learned, but people are naturally drawn to what they can relate to. One of my best friends (who is white, and NOT racist) has a young daughter who recently told her mom that at school all of her friends hug each other but she feels uncomfortable hugging her black friends. Obviously her mom corrected her and dealt with the situation as delicately as she could, but clearly that was something her daughter thought of in the first place because she herself is white and somebody who looks different confuses her. If adults act that way then yes, that's 100% a choice and they're just racist. But sometimes children can be "racist" without having it taught to them. It's just a trait I think everyone has in them. One that can change and mature of course.

      INSANE BASTARD she's 5

    • @UP-ww9si
      @UP-ww9si 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      INSANE BASTARD you're seriously misunderstanding what the other user is saying and I'm not sure why you're getting so heated over it. Racism IS an INNATE trait in everybody. No, somebody in court saying "sorry judge I was born racist" wouldn't be a valid excuse, and I'm sure you know that but decided to use that dumb point anyway. First of all if they're in court then obviously they did something illegal. Being "born racist" still doesn't give anyone an excuse to ACT racist. There's a huge difference. And you also sarcastically said everyone must be born homophobic too. News flash...yeah that's absolutely true. For example I'm a lesbian but when I was a child, seeing two women together really weirded me out. For whatever reason.. I was okay with gay guys but lesbians made me uncomfortable. Because it was foreign to me and made no sense. It wasn't what I was used to. Did I clearly change my opinion? Duh. Also, watch TH-cam videos of remote islands full of black tribesmen who see a white person for the first time. It scares the shit out of them. Some tribes think different races are literally the devil incarnate. Everyone prefers what they know and is scared of what they don't. I don't see what's so wrong with admitting that humans are born liking one thing more than the other. Once everyone actually acknowledges that then maybe progress can be made. Instead of denying it and attacking people, like you're doing.
