    Great video. By the way, I use white or yellow paint as much as possible underneath chassis, so that dark cracks, rust or defects show up clearly if they occur. It makes it brighter for underside work anyway. Another tip is to work on light coloured concrete etc whenever possible, to reflect up daylight.

    That was a cracking job and a well produced video too, well done, that’s a really sweet trailer you’ve got now, plus you know it from the ground up. Neat to see you checking the play in the axles and those improvised tools. I remember chuckE2009 welding cleats onto a plate first, he reckoned it spread the load better. I think he added a few lights and a winch onto his, might be useful.

    How about a lock box to store chains and straps?

  • @ForensicCats
    @ForensicCats 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Congratulations and keep in mind the laws on securement of equipment; 1/2 the load of machine required and four points of securement (NO lose chains) PLUS you have the attachment requires another securement (5 changes total of your 12k chains should do)... Chains are also reduced by 1/2 on their load capability, so the 12k becomes 6k each... the more the better as lose chains count as no chains.
    Also, do not damage your chains and binders (which should be labeled with ratings).
    Ps I like your metal deck and wood combo --- the steel deck will resit loads in tension better if you welded them to the long beams... you may see the metal stretch over time BUT those square stock will also reduce that stretching. Ps again, you can add a single chain across the bucket or attachment and those satisfies ''securement'' but do not do that with other locations as it will reduce you by 1/2... and YES, u can attach to tracks.

Looks better in all black... the yellow looked a bit sick...the LED lights are awesome, Andrew did the same thing for his trailer,...

    Ok,for the record,put it all together, tighten the axle nut,spin the wheel,back off 1or 2 hex or so till loose,more than spec then tension the nut to spec and recheck free play,should be about 1to 1.5 am.
    The freeplay is only there for heat expansion of the moving parts so the bearing doesn't bind when hot.

    Looks weird with the wheels so far back, would it not make more sense to have the load on top of the axles?

    What the hell, is that oil you're putting on those bearings, aren't you supposed to pack them in grease heavily & thoroughly? those won't last.

    Where did you get the spec for the wheel bearing clearance? I would think a oil bath wheel bearing would run with some preload.
