They sell a small metal replacement fix for the hinge mechanism. You'll need to pull out the logic board to replace the broken plastic hinge caps though.
You *almost* went with the only game that I play regularly: World of Warcraft. I really wish that I could get this for my dad as he's still using a Windows PC built in 2009.
I bought my 2013 iMac new. Got the SSD rather than the HDD but the specs are the same, I’ve given up on MacOS since the end of support for Catalina. Windows 10 is running fine. I installed IOT LTSC 2019 which in theory should keep the machine security patched until 2029. Hopefully by that point a decent Linux open source nvidia graphics stack for Kepler exists
@@CanadianComputerCollectori remember i had an imac 2012 21 inch, i installed opencore on it and macos sonoma and i got to say it was so fucking fast for a 2012 machine.
No problem. I think there may have been a time when they did? Or maybe it's for TH-cam premium subscribers only? Either way, 1080p on TH-cam is fine. Everything is so compressed anyway there's very little benefit to higher resolutions on YT unless you're watching on a MASSIVE screen. Bitrate etc are more impactful than resolution in content streaming anyway.
@@CanadianComputerCollector thanks bro for your help...i solved my problem using another browser( firefox and google chrome ) they support it and safari doesn't
What's your thoughts on iMac Pro 2017? Is it still solid in 2022? Base model with the 8 Core Xeon is going for $1300 right now on eBay. I'm switching from Windows and want to enjoy a 5k panel, but that new studio display is $1600 on its own haha.
That's tough. Before doing that I'd say look into what you could get with apple silicon for that price and compare the performance. All else being equal, the m1 will use significantly less power and be supported longer.
Howdy! These iMacs are a lot like laptops in that they are built similarly and have a lot of soldered components. Technically you can cut the adhesive and open it up, but that process is not especially fun. Once inside, you can actually upgrade the SSD to something larger/quicker. Ram can usually be upgraded via a port on the rear of the machine. If you're running an i5 quad or an 8 thread i7, you should be good for a long time - especially with more ram and a good solid state drive.

What a pain that was at the time lol. I found that decent 3D printed thing but I dno how long term it would be.
Love it and agree, great computer. Both Mac/Windows OS is the best of both worlds! Thanks for sharing!
Boot camp makes it so you don't have to choose, it was fantastic and the biggest drawback of apple silicon (for now) is the lack of bootcamp.
Install Windows? What is this, the Canadian Computer Collector? Oh wait, you never said Canadian Apple Collector in your channel name... carry on!
I really love apple stuff, but I also love other stuff!

I played Classic on one of these when it dropped again. I really want to get back into Classic but my schedule sucks.

It's unfortunate how these machines which are otherwise perfectly usable get retired due to a lack of software support.
check up "open legacy patcher". Im writing this on imac late 2013 with ventura. zero issues.

Love the wallpaper 😂
I have the 2.5k version but I noticed that I can't watch 2K video on TH-cam only 1080P
Yeah I don't think TH-cam supports that resolution
@@CanadianComputerCollector ok thank you

I just bought one this exact year and specification. Ubuntu is my choice as the latest apple applications will no longer run.
One of the big benefits of these Intel based systems!
