20 years in a Scottish police control room on 999 calls, been there done that, worn out the t-shirt and now getting the pension. Calls like that were very common and often good fun. I loved the happy drunks, you have to roll with them just as Wayne did. Brilliant.

I remember accidently knocking the emergency button on my phone. They called me back and warned me it was an offence to make false calls. IT WAS AN ACCIDENT!

If you do that they can often call back. If you're not on a busy night, imo best to check they're safe and well.

This is an embarrassing 😳 🙈 thing when people make stupid hoax phone 📞 calls to 999. It’s a complete waste of time 🕰️. 999 is for police 👮♂️, coastguard, ambulance 🚑 and finally fire 🔥 brigade are the limit these services go to. I have no idea 🤷♂️ what planet 🌍 people are on everyday. 👍

The government legally allows pubs and retail outlets to serve alcohol that makes people do stupid things, then has to pump a load of money and resources into overstreached emergency services to cope with all of this when it all kicks in late at night. Though they won't restrict sales of alcohol from pubs and retail outlets, because that would effect the economy and they wouldn't be enough taxes to go into an overstretched emergency services to cope with all the drunk behaviour that kicks in late at night! Welcome to Britian!

It was obviously a slow night, and seriously? If they tried to prosecute every drunk caller, imagine how much time that would take, and public resources that could actually go to saving lives. Handling them like this gets them safely off to bed, at literally no public cost.
