Thanks for showing this new chrome, if it doesn't rub off like Molotow it will be a keeper, i bet Aqua Gloss also works but if the paint is durable enough it shouldn't need it, think it will dull with Vallejo Gloss or Mecha Gloss. Green Stuff World Chrome (the brush version) looks kinda similar through an airbrush, you should test that via airbrush.
Good morning my good friend I just wanna thank you for all the videos that you put out the one. My wife happens to like I don’t have a close window to my paint booth. Therefore when I seen the bucket, the water the insulation what a great idea and she wanted to tell you thank you, it sure works well and I didn’t have to destroy my basement or move things around this worked great thanks again
Good advice not to use the dehydrator. I actually have some chrome that dulled a year later due to paint oxidation. I’m wondering if over time most of these chrome paints will dull.
Quick test on Dspiae vs Molotow I did Smells better, seems thinner, and sprays a lot easier than the Molotow (although I guess you can thin the Molotow further but I've found this does make very slightly less chrome-y). With both you have to spray heavy and wet, Molotow I found that sometimes you get some inconsistent spray/atomization which causes hazing at points, you can avoid this if you are careful but doing it consistent can be harder. In addition this makes you obscure more detail in the process as you are laying down thicker layers to get the chrome right. If you are spraying onto model pieces and trying to get a chrome effect while preserving detail, staying consistent is harder. With Dspiae its much easier to get a coat down without the overspray and hazing issues and it seems to be thinner as well so more detail will be preserved. I had no issues with the chrome look being uneven or hazing. Final chrome look on a spoon is slightly better on Dspiae than Molotow, with a big plus being its just consistent and even on the whole piece. Letting them dry for a week now and then going to coat with Alclad candy, Molotow holds up to most of those... really hoping the Dspiae will hold up as that will mean its just better than Molotow in every way.
Would love to hear the results. Also...did you try any of the protectant coats? Do you think it needs it? Do you use E7, aqua gloss, or this micro stuff in this video?

Spazstix is pretty fuzzy. It basically handles the same as Molotow in terms of being sprayed over with a clear. Id say Aquagloss takes it to 90-95% of the original shine, with E7 doing 85-90%. I wouldn't use the Spazstix. Alclad Candy over is fine if you airbrush, hand brush is mostly okay but if you do a heavy enough layer the solvents kill the shine and turn it silver. I am trying to chrome a few fishing lures. I see a bazillion different TH-cam video about different products. If I tried all the various brands I’d have 20 times the value of the lures invested in paint. So, my question is if you could only use one product to duplicate a real chrome finish which would you choose? I tried some Spazticks but over regular black rather than gloss black and the result is more like polished aluminum rather than chrome. Before I redo it I’d like to know is there is a preferred product you would recommend Also, I need to put on a two part epoxy finish as they will take a beating. I assume I need to use a mid coat that won’t kill the mirror finish. Thoughts on that would be greatly appreciated
Thanks for another great review. I wonder if you mix gloss in with the actual paint and then airbrushed it, if the same shine would be present with the protection of the clear coat already mixed in?
I wish to try Microgloss. Finding Aquagloss nearly impossible to find. However, I do not have a .5 needle, only .3. How would you thin this product? With what? What ratio?
Try applying 2k clear over the first clear coat you applied. I have never done it but youtubers swear by the combo the first clear gives a slight dull the the 2k makes it pop and shine. Does it work? one way to find out.
This stuff looks amazing. Do you think it will take 'panel liner' over it? Or, because it's so shiny and smooth they won't 'hang up' in the crevices? I've had this problem with other chromes, they just run off. I'm hoping as this is Acrylic, I will be able to put other acrylics over it and they will stay put.
How does the chrome hold up to handling before a clear coat? I use the Molotow chrome marker ink and it sprays great. However when handled it started turning more silver instead of leaving it chrome.

Chrome need only much more time to dry before you put the clear code on, more likely 2-6 weeks to dry before put anything on it, I tested it on my music equipment ;D
if it cleans up with ipa, i'd think it'll be similar to molotow. can you hit it with a coat of aqua gloss and see what happens? microscale is the same people that make mircoset and microsol for decals. if you haven't tried it, i highly suggest you do. takes the wrinkles right out on curved surfaces.
Hello sir, I am trying to do a gunmetal/gray chrome that can resist heat. I wanted to convert my headlight housing from chrome to gunmetal chrome. If you can suggest the paint, needle size, psi, paint (Alclad, GSW, or this brand?) I’m going to buy an affordable airbrush to do all this also. Can you recommend any combo and black chrome paint to match this. I am trying to go for the 2000 Honda Civic type R (ek9) headlight look. Must be heat resistant as it will be sealed inside a housing. I hope I get a reply!
Side note, I was also pronouncing Molotow like Molo-Toe but I got confirmation from the company it's pronounced just like Molotov (like the cocktails), it's just spelled traditionally with a W.
A bit of context to go with a question about this. I have a 1973 celica I’m about done restoring. I also picked up a 1/18 auto art diecast of my car. The plan is to build it into a replica of my real car. No one makes a scale set of wheels to match my wheels. So I found a guy who designed an 3d printed a set of wheels for the diecast. My wheels on my real car are polished aluminum. Would you recommend this product for the 3d printed wheels? And how durable is it?
It's now very durable but I would go with Alclad Aluminum. My favorite car is a 1977 Toyota Celica GT. Drove around in a 76 with my buddy in the early 80s. I'd love to restore one
@ sweet! I bet you had fun in it. My wheels (oldschool keystones) are polished to a mirror shine would that aluminum product give that effect? I know I’ll have to handle the wheels while assembly and am concerned with wrecking the finish of a chrome coating 😬
Damn this makes me want to finally buy an airbrush! It sucks that so many of the great chrome paints or materials I've found on your channel lately are all seemingly indefinitely out of print and unavailable, really makes you wonder where the industry is going if some of the best products don't really exist anymore
Thank you for doing these tests. I’d like to paint a goalie mask with chrome paint, is there one you think would work best for that purpose? It will have to be very durable and take clear coat very well as I’ll prob put several coats of 2k clear on it.
Duralumen Tuff Chrome is the strongest Chrome I've tested so far. None are really very durable in the end. The 2K will help of coarse but you do lose a bit of that chrome look. Duralumen Tuff is sold on Etsy

I've had this problem with other chromes, they just run off. I'm hoping as this is Acrylic, I will be able to put other acrylics over it and they will stay put.
I bought the Dspiae, was amazing and cheap! The only complaint was they use horse and buggy delivery service. Almost a month
How does the chrome hold up to handling before a clear coat? I use the Molotow chrome marker ink and it sprays great. However when handled it started turning more silver instead of leaving it chrome.
I wonder if this could be used on a polymer gun frame. What do you think the durability with be with handling whatever you painted with it?
I see your rocking that USAGS sticker, I live 20 minutes away from them went there on Thursday place is awesome
That's awesome, I'd love to move down there. How is the city you're located in?
I live in Deland just west of Daytona it’s nice when we aren’t getting hit by hurricanes lol, really enjoy your channel I just got into gunpla building after about 20 years and your videos have been extremely helpful keep up the good work man we all really appreciate it
Chrome need only much more time to dry before you put the clear code on, more likely 2-6 weeks to dry before put anything on it, I tested it on my music equipment ;D
if it cleans up with ipa, i'd think it'll be similar to molotow. can you hit it with a coat of aqua gloss and see what happens?
microscale is the same people that make mircoset and microsol for decals. if you haven't tried it, i highly suggest you do. takes the wrinkles right out on curved surfaces.
Now how would it look with a dyed layer of clear coat?
A dyed layer of clear coat is a candy I'm guessing which looks great
holy crap thats amazing!! how does it not smell!? i figured it would stink to high heaven! im really digging that though
Does it dull after touching it much? My AK Superchrome dulls fairly easily after handling it
Quick question - where did you get the Mario figure from please? My son saw me watching the video, so UI thought I would ask.
Super incredible! You’re awesome man
love the channel man 👍can i ask where you got your airbrush stands ?
Gaahleri, Robot Kai and Spray Gunner
You want Alclad High Speed Aluminum. It's basicly polished aluminum
@ awesome thank you
Damn this makes me want to finally buy an airbrush! It sucks that so many of the great chrome paints or materials I've found on your channel lately are all seemingly indefinitely out of print and unavailable, really makes you wonder where the industry is going if some of the best products don't really exist anymore
I'm 7 months late but there's still plenty of great chromes for airbrushing. MRP, Alclad, AK Interative, ProTech etc.
Can you comment on this products drying time and durability with and without clear coats? Thanks
It gets wrecked with a clear coat. It's not the most durable either. I would try the Zurc Zuper Chrome I recently tested or my pick of the year, SMS Hyperchrome. Also check out Duralumen Tuff Chrome that's sold on Etsy
I've seen all your chrome videos but at the end I couldn't figure out what is the best now according durability, scratch resistance, UV resitance and shine. What's your opinion now after testing all of those chrome paints?
I like SMS Hyperchrome and Duralumen Tuff Chrome but most aren't super durable
@@barbatosrex9473 I see, thank you Sir. So you mean that SMS Hyperchrome and Duralumen Tuff Chrome are more durable then the others?
But what about Revell's Chrome Spray? in one video you were so enthusiastic about it. What changed your opinion?
It's one of the least durable
Is it suitable for going over chrome scratches . Using the pen ,more than the spray.
Chrome scratches on what?
@@barbatosrex9473
Chrome that's a bit pitted on a motorcycle .
i think ive seen all your chrome videos lol... i want more
How does this compare to Green Stuff World chrome?
Any way to do shadow chrome at all?
