    This is one of the best tutorials I have seen to program the WS. So easy to understand and you have explained it so well. It looks easy and I can do it without watching it again. Great job and thanks for a great tutorial.

    Thanks. I just got my wavestate and programming has been a real challenge. I’ve never owned a synth before and feel as though I am in over my head. This is the best video I’ve found on creating a performance from scratch more or less.

      Hi. I was going to say a Wavestate for a first synth is... ah... let's say "very optimistic". 😂 How did you get on with it?

  • @metaspherz
    @metaspherz 4 ปีที่แล้ว +11

    For musicians who love pads this is a no-brainer addition to their gear. I hope that Korg keeps supporting it and that it will get even better. I don't care if they add aftertouch but I want more a 61 key version -- even a 49 key like my Deepmind 12 would be nice -- so that I can better use the split keyboard function to greater advantage. But it's also amazing and a joy to experiment with as it is! It's the first synth that I'm considering getting again to play off of each other.

    The Wavestate is going to become a classic to compete with just a handful of other classic synths. It is fantastic. It is superb. Its architecture is so incredibly well thought out. Yes, you need to understand it to create sounds that you already have in your mind, but even if you're no good at understanding its architecture, there's the Randomize feature. Keep hitting that randomize and you'll harvest unique patches within minutes. Add to this no-brainer approach the fact that new patches can be saved without any bank/slot limitations, and you've got a machine that will keep surprising and enchanting for years to come.

    Hi Ron, you put a great deal of effort into this for us. Thank you for all the thought you put into it. Great job editing both the audio and video. The orchestral sample focus is a great idea. Looks like there is a huge amount of inspiration in the Wavestate. I'd like to get one at some point. Thanks again.

    Thank you so much for providing such easy to understand information. Coming from a world of of old fashioned analog gear this is a real step sideways for me. So apart form things like a rc50 loop-station, not so used to menu diving. I have one on approval, and just trying to figure out if this is a good digital style synth to start with. I like this because once learned, it seems you can do quite a bit with one, sequencing and solo sounds. If you have an opinion, I would love to know. Thank you kindly. A.W

    • @RonCavagnaro
      @RonCavagnaro  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      My opinion is that it is incredible, the sounds are worth learning a very simple menu system. It is not immediate, but follow my simple instructions in the videos here and you will have endless possibilities. I barely have touched the surface of the synth and it will be a lifetime synth for me. I have used it a lot on my twitch streams as well if you want to check it feel free to jump around

    I'm trying this and I can't get it to sound like that at all! Everything sounds a bit muddy compared to what yours is playing. I have to hit the note briefly and then when I release the note, it plays more music, so I can only play the keys briefly before going to another one because it won't play those notes if I hold them down.

    Great tutorial. One question: In the 4 steps demo at 5:07, I can see that the steps don’t always move in order (1-2-3-4); sometimes the step lights will show 1-2-1, for example. Why does this happen? (When I look back through the video, it looks like probability for all steps is 100%, so seems like that isn’t what causing steps to play out of order.) What’s going on? Thx.

    Hi Ron, I haven’t got a Wavestate yet and I am particularly worried that the samples sound too sampl-y so I wondered how essential the filter and the reverb are to get it somewhat sounding like orchestral sounds? In other words, if one would use the Wavestate without filter and reverb at all can it sound good? Curious about your opinion on that.

    • @RonCavagnaro
      @RonCavagnaro  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It sounds awesome to me. I added reverb and did the filter just to show that it's possible to use. There's so many samples, and to me many sound real enough in a mix with my guitar.

    • @jantuitman
      @jantuitman 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Ron Cavagnaro thanks, reassuring. I might buy this one in the future, because I like instrumental and orchestral sounds a lot. But I am also considering modal argon8 which is quite the opposite of this... a digital synth sound with a narrower range of sounds, but incredibly pure sounding.
