    Thanks for this! After much deliberation, I ordered a Wavestate today. Watching other reviews alone I was worried it was a one trick pony, a sample machine, but your video proved to me it’s got loads of ability to take a basic wave source and you can endlessly model it! More than I need but with all the cool sample potential too! Love it!

    Just purchased Wavestate 2 days ago, your video saved me hours of reading the manual, the good thing you did is that you focused on simplifying the user experience and stayed away from glorifying features. - man! great thing about this keyboard is that it can design any sound you could imagine, i designed Concert grand and a Rhodes by tweaking some knobs. Love it!.

Like the best manuals, but with a soothing voice! Not sure if you kept this synth, but this one video you made with it is, by far, the best I've seen on the Wavestate and how to start crafting one's own sounds.

    When you added that step 1 going into step 2 atmos sound and adjusted the step 1 to 2 loop rate slower I immediately got it and could imagine using the Wave State programming timed to develop sonically interesting shifting timbres with say an evolving visual animation. I had a Prophet VS and then a Korg Wavestation, both long gone, so this type of sound has a positive memory in my sound memory. Thank you Cuckoo for such a simple explanation of this new, perhaps complex synth and making it seem very accessible to anyone willing to dig in.

  • @InFamousProductions
    @InFamousProductions 4 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    Thank you, your explanations are fantastic. I got mine about a week ago, and it has been mysterious , as it is not laid out like a traditional synth, but now It makes more sense. the real mystery still is the sequencing. I don't understand why they didn't put a "play" button on it to turn on or off that feature, just for quick convenience . But I'm starting to read the manual on that section as I type this and hopefully it will make sense soon.

    25:30 - Dreamy Reverb. Powerful tone here. 35:37 - one knob changes multiple targets - nice! That's why I favor the NordLead 3 (the only one they made with encoders instead of pots) over the others, it has that as well. 49:52 - Beautiful. This is why I prefer integrated synths over modular - It seems like it would have required $10K worth of modules and countless patch cables to replicate what you just did here in minutes, without any patch cables. Thank you so much for creating this incredibly informative video.

    Hey man, thank you so much for sharing this with us! I really like your simplistic approach and attitude to configuring this rather complex synth. I was reluctant buying it, due to the "menu diving", however you have showed that the menu diving is intuitive, especially the modulation configuration. I personally could care less about digital vs. analog. I think with the right filters and effects any digital synth can sound glorious. You just claimed another victim, I am ordering one today.

    This is still nuts coming even after the MKII. Just the synth and fx alone, without even blending them. That it’s as seamless to use with only a small screen.

    Hello from Helsinki! I admire your work and detailed tutorials u do... Keep the flame. I have a question though in case u can answer me. I am trying to apply the modulation Reverb Dry/Wet to Vector as u do, but its not working. I can assign it to mod knobs though for example... Any idea why? I can do Dry/Wet Delay also. ??????????????? Is there any settings because it is master fx ???? If u have the time and the answer please help me. Have a nive one. Stay Healthy...

    Full-size keys is great news! And dynamic voice allocation! There are only a handful of performance based boards out there that retain sounds as long as the keys are held down. I own two.

    Many thanks for creating this. Trying to program custom sounds is quite the production, more menu steps than a lot of other synths, but at least here you patiently walk through them, showing how you got there, what the effects were and sounded like. However, if I'm doing a live performance or jam, it seems much easier to just use external pedals (which I often do) rather than having to wade though a labyrinth of menus and submenus to get at various effects options.

    • @truecuckoo
      @truecuckoo  ปีที่แล้ว

      Glad to hear you found it helpful! Designing sounds is an art in itself. And the more complex the synthesiser, the more complex the process. I should make a followup and go into the white knobs, which can be really powerful and custom.

    Must admit that Korg made the programming somewhat easier than the Wavestation. But then they added on so much more sonic possibilities that it's back to square one again. You could take weeks programming a complex patch (always did on the old one), but you can do so much more with this. I can see my self heading down to the studio and spending days in there programming this beast, come up for air and find the world has blown up or something. Modulation madness...I like.

      I would agree with you, to take this synth to its full extent you can spend days on a single patch. I ordered one and planning on starting from scratch, something simple, and explore much later down the road. I like it 64 voice polyphony, multi-timbrality, and effects, as well as full-size keys.
