That white people talk about you 24/7 is not true. I have better things to do with my time than talk about someone who has a different skin color than mine. That's part of the problem. Black people say they are proud but they won't let go of their victimhood. We're talking about a hairstyle. I don't complain when I see a black woman with straight hair in a ponytail! Isn't that white appropriation?

Napoleon and the French became dreadful or dreaded to see people with locs because they were able to defeat the world's strongest military. Even in the Bible the term is loc not dreadloc.....stop it. This is a hair style this a lifestyle. Are you or your white cousin. Bobo Ashanti, Rastafarian, Nyahbinghi, Kemites, Kushites, or Sumarian? If not you shouldn't have locs. Most locs don't allow members to have locs touched by people outside of the tribe. Some loc tribes won't allow their locs to be uncovered in public. That said… If equality and fair enforcement of rules really matter I don’t think that a dress code that clearly states boys can’t have hair past their collar should have racial exemptions…You can’t strictly apply the rule to non black students while allowing black students to have long hair… doesn’t matter if it’s dreads or braids if below the collar it’s too long… It’s the parents responsibility to be aware of things like this for your kid… holding a student and a parent to the same standard of accountability as everyone else is the opposite of racist…

People get locs for different reasons no matter what race they are. Some do it to copy, but we all copy something. Now Asian and African culture intermingled so if you research you’ll see that the two cultures have strong ties and share ancestral characteristics. Like facial features and hair texture. You can see on those old ancient statues that they are wearing braids or dreads. Like a Siddhartha. You can’t say Africa is in all of us, and then not accept that it’s in all of us. I personally don’t have a problem with people copying me, I just make sure that whatever they copy is something positive. I don’t mind being a leader 😅

So many hear completely miss the point he was making. This is why people who are clueless on race and culture get things so wrong so often. First thing is he never said Black people own dreds. Second thing is he never said others cant wear dreds. Third is the entire point of the video was not completely about dreds itself. It was about making clueless assumptions on things you dont really know about. Let me explain.
His entire point was that all Black people dont wear dreds simply because they like them which is what the Asian dude said. That doesn't mean some dont, because they do. Many wear them for religious or cultural reasons. This is the whole point. He wears them because he likes them, but you cant then assume Black people as a whole also wear them simply because they just like them.
We can even take race completely out of this and use another example. Some Christians wear the cross because it means something to them. It is a representation of their connection with their religion. Not everybody that wears the cross feels this way. Some just wear it because it looks cool, or so they think. Yet it would be wrong of me to assume that everybody wears the cross simply because it looks cool to them. The same can be said with certain tattoos. Certain tattoos mean something and some people get them because of that meaning while others get it simply because they like it.
Yall need to put your hate aside and listen to what was actually said and explained in the video with great detail.

I waited because of the gate keeping but when I seriously contemplated getting locs, I did a lot of searching on the internet. I learned about Rastafarianism, the history of locs in cultures and contemporary perspectives. I found a large divide in this subject. In the end, I did what was right for me and I will never give up my locs. I am grateful to whoever and wherever they come from and in my journey gained a deep respect for the Rastafarians.

I group up in Philadelphia, in gen X times i might add...there were dreads back in 70s 80s and prior that did not comb ot straighten their hair as a symbol of culture...meaning we will not conform to America's idealism of beauty as black people...there was a group of people named the "Movement " in Philadelphia that stood for just this idea...freedom for black people and the oppression of being told who or what we are...dreads speak to our culture and diversity...my mother, brothers and i had dreads when they were not treated as a fad and or a hairstyle.....its astonishing to see how many culturally challenged black people have little knowledge of our history.....so many did not get the point of even where we are in society today.....between the ignorance and the cartoonist way blacks are depicted and displayed today its sad for all those who risked their lives and freedom for our cause. Those of us who speak and say things like im a black man and i don't care, etc...as a black man with failing and unsafe communities.. you should always care about what and how you are being viewed and or depicted....wake up modern world...these are the most racist times we are living in...

I need literally everyone, especially if you are not a black person, to just take a good six months and learn about the history of chattel slavery, and how that played in the whole of the Americas. Some of y'alls random thoughts about how race and racism works in America, and I mean North, Central, South, and all the islands, reveal your abject ignorance about living in these countries as a black person. For an asian man to fix his mouth to speak about black people wearing locs is the height of idiocy.
Literally every nation in the Americas had some weird rules steeped in colorism that involved texturism and and other physical characteristics about black people. And it was all inculcated into class systems. That still affect us today more so because most of us are ignorant of that history. I experience secondhand embarrassment all the time as a result of these folks.🥴😒
