  • Phoebe and I flew to Springfield MO again! This time, we had a connecting flight through Atlanta and a 3 hour layover became a 7 hour layover!! Phoebe did absolutely amazing and I am super proud of her! The travel day was exhausting but I’m super grateful to have had my best friend with me the whole time!

    I will be going on my first ever flight this upcoming summer. Not only will it be MY first ever flight but it will be my service dogs first ever flight and on top of that I will be flying alone (P.S I'm only 13) (And my dog is 70lbs)
    I will be flying southwest.

      Wishing you luck! I hope watching my videos helps you a little bit! I watched TONS of flight vlogs before my first flight with my pup. Definitely get to the airport a good few hours before your flight and do your best to advocate for what you need!

      It can be helpful to check in with the gate attendants each time you get off of the plane if you have connecting flights. They will be stationed just inside the building and can help direct you to your next gate. Happy travels :)

    Do service dogs have a place to go to the bathroom on long flights?

    Genuine question,did you fly out of colorado springs airport? Since your channels name is "colorado service mutt" I'm flying to colorado soon with my service dog so I was curious if you were having issues with the tsa at that airport! If you don't feel comfortable answering that is totally fine!

      I just traveled through Denver Airport with my SD. Suffered through an 11 hour delay and their Pet Relief area was so disgusting that my SD wouldn’t even enter the room, let alone relieve himself. I will never travel through this airport again.

      @@bonniegutierrez1353 Hmm well that is very good to know! Sorry you experienced that tho! Thank goodness I will not be flying in that airport

      @@JimmyAndDuchess Yes it was Denver, I would have preferred to fly with the Springs airport as it’s smaller and closer but unfortunately it doesn’t fly to Springfield so I have to go through Denver. However, I was delayed in the Atlanta airport this time around.

    Why does he have a metal choke collar or a prong collar

    • @coloradoservicemutt
      @coloradoservicemutt  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      She* has a prong collar on. It’s a great training tool and helps with communication.

      @@coloradoservicemutt Then why not use a martingale? They function the exact same way as a prong dogs, which is applying pressure evenly around the neck, except they're a lot more comfortable for the dog than a prong collar is.

    I have been using a diabetic medical alert service dog for 12 + years. My dad had a service dog b4 I was born for deafness. My uncle was a amazing dog trainer. I have been training dogs all of my life since I could speak and walk. I am 57. My question is why are you using a metal collar around your dogs neck. That type of collar can cause trachea damage to your dog. If your dog has been properly trained to walk correctly you don't need that collar. The Halti or gentle leader head collars are more humane and healthy for any dog . My last two dogs have only used body harnesses since they were 6months old. I also use a rolator Walker with a seat. My dog is attached to my waist. But 90percent of the time he is off leash. I don't need a leash to control my dog just my mouth. My dog will not leave a heel position until I tell him to . I am surprised your veterinarian didn't give you hell for using that type of metal collar.

      Again, I didn’t ask for your advice. I used a properly fitted prong collar which are safer for dogs than flat collars. Please do not question my dogs training, that’s incredibly disrespectful. Gentle leaders can actually cause neck damage if used incorrectly. You stick to your dog I’ll stick to mine.
