Another great video. Your style of presentation is spot on...no music, great views of the trail and surroundings, topped off with no-nonsense, witty commentary. Aces.
Thanks John. WhT a great message. I try to keep it as raw as I can. And make it seem like the viewer is along for the ride with me. The videos should stay timeless doing them that way. All these channels with the music. They won’t be very enjoyable to watch in the future as the music will be completely out of date.
I love how your pushing up abs😮 knackered with your finger still on n the break 😂 looks well worth it though ! Unbelievably beautiful, this ones definitely motivated me cant wait to do it, also the four passes wow! Nice one
great video :) we were just up whinlatter yesterday, thought about doing it but seemed to be a lot of walkers. We had done the borrowdale bash on the monday so thought well just stick to the trail centre for now, but will defo give this a go.
Fair play mate, that looked like a cracking day out. That hike a bike reminds me of the slog up the Dollywagon onto Helvellyn. Will have to give this one a go this year.
Chris Maltby loved it Chris. I’m going to do the helvellyn ride when the weather improves. Probably the way around you did it. Up dolly wagon. Trail Doug wants to do this ride as well. Maybe we should all get together and do it 😁
Excellent video , love those views. Ive photographed Nutcracker events in Whinlatter and recognise some of the places where I chose to use to get good shots. Its not going to be a ride Im going to do though Lol. Im not doing any hike an ebike! Love the videos especially the Swaledale ones as I live there and ride most of them.
I might do this ride tomorrow but am still knackered from the hike-a-bike yesterday up the pass in Boredale (so thank for the .gpx). Doesn't look as bad as that descent as it looks possible to wheel it a fair bit; I'm just not strong enough to lift my e MTB over my head onto my shoulders, so have to resort to wheeling or short, sharp lifts
Trail-Finder likewise, been going to the Lakes since I was 10 and still can’t get enough of it 😍. I’m just starting out with my TH-cam channel, can I ask you to cast your eyes over it and throw any feedback my way please. Thanks in advance and I look forward to watching more of your cracking videos. P.s. I’m now subscribed to you🤘
Nice vid, quite windy and steep! Next time you're up there you should try out the "Borrowdale Bash", it's supposed to be one of the best trails in the Lakes, it's very close to this and basically goes around Derwent Water
That’s a great decent and I’ve done it a couple of times and it’s a nice mix of hike a bike and trail centre The other great decent is Ullock Pike from the summit of Skidaw just up the road 👍
Hi mate I used to do lodes of wild rides just like you when I started 20 years ago then trail centres opened I will have to get back out in the wilderness best type of riding in my opinion keep up the good work 👍🚵♂️🚵♂️🚵♂️
Michael Williams it certainly is Michael. You can’t beat a good natural ride. Get your self back out there and enjoy your self. And thanks for the kind words 👍
Another cracking video. Beautiful light and great shadows there. Do you ever get hassle from walkers on the erm... less "official" trails? I feel the mountains have enough space for a bit of rule flexing (especially when it's deserted), but I'f be interested to know what you find.
Luckily. Where I started to hike a bike that’s where the public footpath starts. So technically I was walking and not riding 😂. I’m not usually naughty and go near footpaths. Once up top and heading towards hobcarton. That is not a footpath on the map. I also did this ride midweek. And only saw 2 people
We did this mate, was meant to give you a shout. It wasnt windy at all but going up was mental. You absolute mad man doing that in the wind lmao vids doesnt do justice to how gnarly that is man ha ha. Ride safe brother.
Edge of my seat watching you get up there. Brilliant video. I never knew you could get up there from the top of Whinlatter. Definitely one for the summer. Any chance you could add Komoot also. Thanks.
It’s a very good angle. Especially when I watch other TH-cam vids. Mine just look different for some reason. Maybe cos I’m a very tall rider. And a lot of people aim to far down to try and get more handlebar in.
Brilliant that mate, proper stuff! Was thinking of ridin Whinlatter again next couple of weeks weather depending and always wanted to tie the pike in off the blue. Haven’t got a garmin or owt so is it easy to navigate without one in clear conditions?
you can virtually see the whole route from anywhere on the ride. I had my Garmin with me. but it wasn't on the sat nav screen and I did it fine without getting lost. go for it mate
natmil1 hard to explain. But it’s the fork that’s making that noise. When the brake is on the fork is kind of vibrating through the brakes. cos all my weight is on it
I would have thought so. I try not to go anywhere near the lakes on the weekends. If weekends are the only times you can ride then I’d tackle this early. The video didn’t do the views justice. It was amazing
percypongoable brilliant. It’s the hubs I chose that make them. Chris king. Amazing. Reason I ended up choosing the sixth elements is the fact that the logos are part of the carbon build up. And not a sticker.
Hi mate, Have you always ridden clipless? I've just bought a pair and debating putting my flats back on until I get some more time under my belt. Should I just get stuck in or wait for my basic skills to develop?
Daft Biker hi mate. I’m a flat pedal rider. And stayed on flats for around 3 years before switching to clipless. Don’t think I’ll ever go back to flats now. Love been clipped in. Ifs up to you. What ever you feel comfortable riding with
Cracking video. I’ve done the Pike twice on my ebike.....that’s an insane hike a bike. Just curious is your GoPro chin or chest mounted? Keep up the great work
I haven't ridden the Lake District yet, what are the rules on MTB on footpaths, the map doesn't show these as bridleways or permitted routes? Are there any permissions needed? I don't want to get it wrong and damage the reputation of MTBers with miserable ramblers. Nice vid!

Great to see the day to get on the ridge to approach Grisedale Pike. Will try this one soon enough. Cheers for the vid
Awesome ride,,I did watch this in my front room ,and it knackered me watching it ,totally worth it absolutely brilliant,
I really enjoyed this one. That wind though!! Need to do this again sometime
I love how your pushing up abs😮 knackered with your finger still on n the break 😂 looks well worth it though ! Unbelievably beautiful, this ones definitely motivated me cant wait to do it, also the four passes wow! Nice one
4 passes is a must. It is so good. But a huge day 😁
Fantastic video Andy, feeling really inspired to travel up to the lakes for a few days with my bike, you seriously make the best trail videos buddy
Mark Smith it’s an amazing place to ride. You won’t regret it. And thanks for the kind words. It means a lot
Top video and top ride. Those 20ft shadows on the descent - epic.
Thanks Michael 😁
great video :) we were just up whinlatter yesterday, thought about doing it but seemed to be a lot of walkers. We had done the borrowdale bash on the monday so thought well just stick to the trail centre for now, but will defo give this a go.
Midweek is probably the best time to do it. Or crack of dawn on a weekend.
That looks one epic ride, respect for doing it in that wind! Love to do it, but in the spring me thinks. Thanks for posting.
David Conman you will enjoy it when you do it. I loved it
Fair play mate, that looked like a cracking day out.
Maybe we should all get together and do it 😁
@@TrailFinder Not a bad idea!
Watching on the big screen with headphones on. The wind and the view make for a very submersive video. Cracking mate. Loved it
Thanks mark. I’m very pleased you enjoyed watching.
I'll be staying up in the Keswick area in the summer and this is giving me inspiration. Cheers Andy, excellent video!
jnadin39 it’s well worth a visit if your up there. It’s not a long ride, time wise and mileage. So could be fitted in with the trail centre
Really enjoyed watching that. Thank you for sharing all your great rides
Mike Astley thanks mike. Glad you enjoyed it 👊
Excellent video , love those views. Ive photographed Nutcracker events in Whinlatter and recognise some of the places where I chose to use to get good shots. Its not going to be a ride Im going to do though Lol. Im not doing any hike an ebike! Love the videos especially the Swaledale ones as I live there and ride most of them.
Thanks Sylvia 😁
Looks like a cracking ride but that wind was horrendous! Nice riding 😁
Schmidt78 thanks mate. And yes it was. It nearly ripped the bike out of my hands a few times. Actually the strongest wind I’ve ever been in.
My mate and I took our ebikes up that after watching your vid! Still worth it 👌
I need to do it again. Wind free 😁
Nice👍 well done with the bike hike, looked worth it.
It was great. Some of the nicest views I’ve ever seen
Nice one Andy..awesome area to ride 👍
Andy Phillip thanks Andy. Loved it. Can’t wait to go back and do it again. wind free 😂
@@TrailFinder it did look a tad windy lol ..get whiteless pike on your list its not far from there 👍
Thanks for the tip. 😁
I loved the bt when your bike was blown over on the summit; classic lakes problem
Another banger of a video. Definitely stealing that one when the weather picks up!
It’s a belter. I’ll come do it with you 😉😉
Great video this pal, love Whinlatter also!! Thanks for sharing!!
dan hayward it’s brilliant dan. One of my fav places to ride. Thanks mate 😁
What a great edit👍. Love the lakes so much and this video is giving me the need for a trail shredding trip to Whinnlater. Shred well and prosper 🤘👍✊🤙
UP HILL PHILL my fav place. Love walking and riding there 😁
Trail-Finder likewise, been going to the Lakes since I was 10 and still can’t get enough of it 😍. What a ride that was!! It looked incredible !
It was an absolute belter. Just a shame about that wind 😁
Brilliant video m8, gonna use the stava link in a few weeks 🎉
Great video 👍🏼 would love a setup tour type video, the camera set up, the bike, what you take on a ride, ext.
Nice vid, quite windy and steep! Next time you're up there you should try out the "Borrowdale Bash", it's supposed to be one of the best trails in the Lakes, it's very close to this and basically goes around Derwent Water
Done the borrowdale bash before. It’s not to bad. It was before this channel. Been meaning to go back and record it. But thanks for the tip 👍
That’s a great decent and I’ve done it a couple of times and it’s a nice mix of hike a bike and trail centre
The other great decent is Ullock Pike from the summit of Skidaw just up the road 👍
Daniel Helm I have that one planned out and ready to go. And one I’m very much looking forward to doing 😁

Michael Williams it certainly is Michael. You can’t beat a good natural ride. Get your self back out there and enjoy your self. And thanks for the kind words 👍
Bloody awesome place awesome ride little bit of shame it was windy but I bet it was exhilarating.
RHP Mountain & Trail it was good rich. Off back in the summer to do it again. Hopefully wind free. Are you coming???? 😂😉
Trail-Finder
Definitely keep me in the loop on that one weather permitting it’s a long way to go you’ll have to find me a camping spot👍
Superb Andy!! Brilliantly done!
John Hiles thanks John. Hope your well mate.
Trail-Finder Very well thank you. Getting fit enough to blast CyB with you in the spring.
I’ll look forward to it. It’s great fun chasing you around cyb
Been looking forward to this one and it didn't disappoint. I might never do that climb, but the 2 loop descents look amazing
bob manwaring thanks bob 😁
That is one brutal trek to do alone!
Another excelent vid most of the rides you do I can just about manage. Spot on

Bro your vids are absolutely mega!! Doing this Sunday! Cant wait
You will love it mate. And Sunday is not a bad day weather wise. Temp about 14c so you shouldn’t over heat on the climb up. Enjoy.
Thanks man

Bloody brilliant video that was some epic day out on your bike but in future please take someone with you just in case there's a accident 👍
Stewart Summerside thanks Stewart.
The best type of ride. Brilliant stuff Mate.
Mark Collingwood thanks mark. I really enjoyed this one. Can’t wait to do it again without the wind
Looks amazing! Gonna do this for sure!
Tom Eagle it’s great. Enjoy when you get round to doing it 👍
@9.00 exactly.youve got balls ill give you that
i'm sat in my living room thinking 'WTH is he doing?' lol. Great video as always!
😂😂 thanks mate 👊
Cracking idea to add the gpx files 😀😀👍👍👊
Thought it be a good idea for People to watch the video and to be able to ride the same ride. 👍
Nice vid 👍, not been down Hobcarton in a while, I usually do the decent down to Braithwaite it ticks all my boxes 😀.
MtbGuides uk thanks mate. Is that the sleet how descent down to Braithwaite? I liked the look of that
@@TrailFinder yep, as we allways spin up the pass you get the best down for your up 😀.
Wow that place and wind reminds me of Helvellyn !
I literally could of flown my dog on her lead like a kite !!!
I’m doing that one soon as the weather gets better 😁
Look like right ride will have to drive up winlatter I give a go cheers
ashley scarth get it ridden mate. 😁
Fantastic upload. Thanks!
Maximus Mercus your welcome. Glad you enjoyed it
Cracking ride that. Going to do it soon 🤙🏼
marcjenk30 thanks mate. Have fun when you do it 👊
Nice video m8 that climb was nuts.
Thanks mate. The climb was not to bad actually. It was the wind that made it hard going.
no gloves? my fingers would of fallen off. great ride. so looking forward to riding up there in June.
Malcolm Hales they wouldn’t have done. As it was incredibly hot climbing up that mountain. Hence the reason I took them off 😁
That was awesome, hairy on't tops though
Looking forward to hitting it again. Hopefully without the wind
Would love a to see how you have your GoPro set up, the angle is perfect, would help me out a lot 👍🏼
It’s a very good angle. Especially when I watch other TH-cam vids. Mine just look different for some reason. Maybe cos I’m a very tall rider. And a lot of people aim to far down to try and get more handlebar in.
Trail-Finder any chance of a setup video?
Hi thanks for a great video going to be doing this on my electric mountain bike in few weeks, do you know where there is a route map ? Thanks
In the description
What’s the best place to park for this route ?
Brilliant that mate, proper stuff! Was thinking of ridin Whinlatter again next couple of weeks weather depending and always wanted to tie the pike in off the blue. Haven’t got a garmin or owt so is it easy to navigate without one in clear conditions?
you can virtually see the whole route from anywhere on the ride. I had my Garmin with me. but it wasn't on the sat nav screen and I did it fine without getting lost. go for it mate
Ooosh nice one mate! Looked proper good. I’m only an hour n a bit away so game on. Keep up the good work🤘
awesome vid, that sound your brakes make @ 19:00 , is that normal? My front one has started doing it lately
natmil1 hard to explain. But it’s the fork that’s making that noise. When the brake is on the fork is kind of vibrating through the brakes. cos all my weight is on it
Im guessing there will be a lot of pedestrian traffic on this route on a weekend? Looks like a really nice ride with sterling views mate!

EPIC. I need to do this.
I need to do it . without the wind 😂
@@TrailFinder The wind added to the intensity just watching from the comfort of home. Can imagine it was pretty scary actually.
It was abit. The bike was like a sail. Almost pulling me off. Was mainly disappointed with not been able to descend as the wind was to strong to ride.
Loving the videos. What kind of bike would you recommend for this kind of riding? (Peak District, Lakes)
A full suspension bike. Minimum 140 travel
Did you ascend to grisedale then onto hobcarton?
As always brilliant video 🤘
SCOTNEY MTB 901 awesome. Glad you enjoyed. 👊. Thank you
when your cycling in bad weather do you ever just think to your self why? even tho when you have finished you really enjoy it
mr giddings every time. 😂
nice,, on my list👍
Those view though...Lake District is stunning. Is your camera attached to a gimbal? Absolutely no shaking footage on your downhills...
Funky Disciple beautiful scenery.
Awesome vid, do you have a gpx for routes
chris browne take a look in the comment. 😁
Sorry I meant description 😁
Do you think it’s as good as Skiddaw to ullock?
planning this route for sunday , thanks for the beta , very informative , is the wind typical or extra blowy that day ? CHEERS
Enjoy
How do you find the Sixth Elements?
percypongoable brilliant. It’s the hubs I chose that make them. Chris king. Amazing. Reason I ended up choosing the sixth elements is the fact that the logos are part of the carbon build up. And not a sticker.
I’ve done that one a few times it’s well worth doing
I’ll defo do it again. But maybe on a less windy day 😂
May I ask where you get the route information from? And what is the god device you are using?
OSmaps/google earth and I use a Garmin 820

How long does that loop take and how many miles is it roughly?
Sam Ridley 2 hours ish and 10 miles. Click one of the links in the description Sam so you can see the loop 😁
impressive might take me emtb up there although at 22kg maybe not
Would walk mode get you up most of it?
@@mikeastley9325 possible ive done snowdon on it , it does work quite well walk mode but if its too steep no way i could carry it at 22kg

Nice
Way out of my league, cracking effort
Ian Ross you can do it Ian. If I can. Anyone can 👊
Trail-Finder Grizedale fire roads are about my limit, however planning to be a bit more adventurous this year
I said to my smart tv **IS HE MAD** :O)
Jules Quiet Outdoors 😂😂
Grisedale Pike > Whiteless Pike > Rigg Beck. You'll thank me later :)
Thanks for the tips. I will be taking a look into them 👍
