    Drywall screws for kitchen cabinets, screwing into end-grains, using nails instead of proper joints, solid mystery wood for cabinets (that are affixed to a wall).. etc etc etc good luck to the buyer.

      @@htx8257 we obviously use very different cabinets. But then again, I don't expect low-income rentals to provide premium cabinets either.

    Butt joints and drywall screws? No glue at the trim joints? Exposed drywall screws and a different species of wood on the exposed ends - this is the worst visual mistake. Simple is right! The doors were done well though. And I like the use of what looks to be Padauk, so why not use it on the ends? But...first world problems.

      The American way of doing certain things just unnecessarily require more products (even specialized products) which leads to increase cost!
      Making unaffordable furniture benefits no one except the companies who sell the products
      To me, this is lovely carpintery and on a budget!

    Too many butt joints and screws into the end grain... Not sure the cabinets will hold up over time. There is a reason cabinet makers use dados

      I've seen a lot of dado cabinets fall apart over time. Some right outside the store after purchase

    • @josephhfry
      @josephhfry 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@tylerjenkins6088 Of course they will fall apart too. But they will typically last substantially longer. I wager most of those cabinets are made with chipboard, they would be even worse without the dado's and only end grain glue and screws; honestly there is no redeeming cabinets made from that stuff. Honestly, I don't think I have ever seen cabinets made like they do in this video, so it's hard to compare, but there is tons of evidence that a dado is stronger. Here is a very basic demonstration: th-cam.com/video/mLs9IYjoJFM/w-d-xo.html vs th-cam.com/video/flun6Q2CGlY/w-d-xo.html. I am not knocking these cabinets, just saying that with the quality of the work and materials he put into them, I am shocked he didn't put a bit more time into his joinery.

    • @V21IC
      @V21IC 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@josephhfry Where there are movements in wood due to climatic conditions, dados are undoubtedly better.
      However, if you that climatic conditions why spend unnecessarily sums of money in specialized expensive screws, pocket hole jigs, and the whole bla bla bla!
      These screws work at a fraction of the cost!
      Gluing is optional when using screws.

    • @josephhfry
      @josephhfry 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@V21IC who said anything about pocket holes or anything that required expensive equipment.
      My point simply was that screws into end grain are just asking for a failure. Cabinets get used and abused, and they are commonly loaded with quite a bit of weight. I wouldn't trust one held together with just screws into end grain.

  • @deathdealer2915

    Seems the concept of using dado's and rabbets are completely foreign to you. Using drywall screws? Very professional. Maybe think about finishing the kitchen first before installing new cabinets. Typical work from a very very inexperienced woodworker.

      What's trash to one is very useful to another!
      It's like framed and frameless cabinet. I think the former is more elegant and more economical to build.
      To another, a cabinet without frame is trash!
      The nails were being used to hold the parts together until screwed
