Kipp eviscerated Ammon's theory on his own show with fact after fact that 100% proves the originality of the Hebrew texts which were subsequently translated into Greek.
    th-cam.com/users/liveD20YLY_ydY8?si=MhHc38mzo5PYWbfr
Kipp's a little hazy on Ammon's background, but both Dave and Kipp (and every legit scholar) immediately recognises the invalid methodology he employs with cherry-picked irrelevant connotations forced back into the biblical text. And Chriō doesn't even *mean* to apply drugs to the eyes to give insight ... He's made that up! It's simply "to smear" something onto any part of a person or thing, be it makeup, medicinal ointment, embalming resins or plaster on a wall. Not only that, but he relies on 3rd and 5th century CE fictional texts to give him "the truth" of what Jesus was doing centuries beforehand! 🤣
It's virtually certain that anything he says has an element of philological fakery or textual trickery about it. His fantasised narrative about Jesus and the aileged drug cult mystery rite using trafficked children which Ammon imagines he was doing to give aionic life, is patently without a grain of truth in it.

Not entirely correct, the argument hinges on assumptions of cultural context, chrio is associated with ritualistic magic and medicine practice. So should we assume jesus was been anointed for a theological reason in Jewish tradition, or was jesus more on the Hellenistic cultish side and that was his context which we should see him, the gospels were written in greek, Ammon would say this is a clue. A typical greek who read the gospels would associate chrio this way or rather could very well. It's certainly true that in the 1st-2nd century some people had some interesting ideas about who Jesus was and his message.

    • @alirowan1999
      @alirowan1999 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

@@BLG80 The earliest attested gospel is, in fact, "Hebrew Matthew." Jesus may have been a Jewish mystic, with connection/influence from the Essene tradition because many of the recorded statements and practices he taught align with those composed by the Qumran Community and found in the DSS. The historical context places Jesus very firmly in that era as an Apocalyptic Jew expecting the fulfilment of Prophecies about the Jewish Messiah of Zechariah during what they thought would be the fulfilment of Daniel's 490 years. All of Judea had been in a ferment expecting deliverance from the Romans and their own kingdom to be established over all the world. During this time, there were many uprisings of rebels (lēstēs - used 114 times this way by Josephus describing this period). The worst tragedy was because of Judas the Galilean who told the people not to pay Roman taxes and led 2000 men to storm Herod Antipas' palace at Sepphoris, break into the armoury and arm themselves. The Romans soon crushed the rebellion and handed out the usual punishment for a rebel (lēstēs) - crucifixion to all 2000.
Jesus was also accused of being a lēstēs - a rebel/insurrectionist by the Jewish leaders to Pilate to get him executed because they had no permission to do it themselves. Please refer to Luke 23:1-2, 13-14 for the reality of the meaning of lēstēs and why they sent such a heavily armed force to arrest him and the charge against him as "King of the Jews" - a statement of rebellion against Caesar.
1Then the whole council rose and led Jesus away to Pilate. 2And they began to accuse Him, saying, “We found this man subverting our nation, forbidding payment of taxes to Caesar, and proclaiming Himself to be Christ, a King.”
13Then Pilate called together the chief priests, the rulers, and the people, 14and said to them, “You brought me this man as one who was **inciting the people to rebellion.** (ie, being a lēstēs). I have examined Him here in your presence and found Him not guilty of your charges against Him.
Ammon has invented his own fairy tale through many textual tricks, philological fakery and manipulative cherry picking of connotations from the LSJ.
The reason why Ammon wants the LXX to be the original composition is because a) he knows no semitic language b) it will justify his invalid methodology he uses where he picks a Greek word out of the context of its sentence and passage finds a cult or drug related connotation that doesn't belong, but forced it back into the text. He ALWAYS does this so that he can invent his "Christian Mystery."

@@alirowan1999 generally I agree, they is some bias in ammons work, but here is the thing he states he has a lens which he is viewing this work, I don't think he is using tricks or Greek, he is using a pharmacology filter to see jesus and the bible, creating a contextual framework in so doing. Although I think he is well off the mark, I do think his work is important in the broader discussion of how we should see 1st century Palestine, because it's becoming a bit obvious the Jews are less of an orthodox monolith as previously thought.

He's a strange guy with a strange sense of humor. attacking his character is not a convincing way to debunk him. Anyone who deep dives into religious history knows the writers took whatever liberties they chose to direct the narrative to control the power. And power is what they craved. That's why it took so long to translate it to English. They didn't want anyone thinking they didn't need the priest as a middle man to have a relationship with that particular god. And when you have so many examples of those in power changing the text or denying regular people a direct connection to those texts then people changing the story about a pedophile pimp drug dealer to something more wholesome is completely plausible and actually really expected

    • @zachr0
      @zachr0 หลายเดือนก่อน

If they changed the narrative, then why did they leave in the bit about a naked boy running away. Why not just take that out? Also, why didnt any ancient critics, like Celsus, call out Jesus for being a pedophile? Honestly Hillmans theory seems so obviously wrong. But people love the idea that theyve discovered a secret scandal, that they know the truth, and everyone else are just sheep. You dont know anything about history or greek first hand, so you have to just listen to the scholars. So you ignore the 1000 scholars that agree, and listen to the one scholar whose claims happen to also give you secret knowledge that strokes your ego. At the end of the day, data is what matters, and Hillman hasnt provided anything convincing.

He's not just a strange dude with a strange sense of humor. He's making claims that are complete blasphemy. And I am sorry, but your theory about biblical authors wanting power is completely nonsense because pretty much the majority of those authors died horribly and lived in poverty. None of the apostles had anything to gain on Earth except the peace in their hearts. None of the prophets had any real respect on earth, but they were hated by people who are ungodly. @counterf8515 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@S.D.M022 I have also read the bible and I see the truth already.
The bible, if read from the perspective of being, the human interpretation of a select few, self appointed, arbiters of moral providence, is in fact, a wholely unnecessary phenomenon.
For if everything it purports to be true, is in fact true, then "God" as the vehicle of all things borne to pass, both past and future, considering that the present is fleeting, is in full control of all the good and the evil in the world as a means of, for some seemingly arbitrary reason, reaching a climax, then there is no comfort and nothing to be understood outside of that fact.
Much like sending ones son to battle the moral decline of humanity, in full knowledge of his predetermined demise, a demise that is at the behest of a fate prescribed by the father, for the purposes of relieving the guilt of a race of entities already under the full predetermined control of the same will that adorned that sin in the first place.
And.....all this to collect the souls of those who pass the test of an already, by the very nature purported by the human interpretation of his mode and means, predetermined result.
Everything, as prescribed by the text has, or will come to pass anyway, all the good, all the evil, all the sin and all the forgiveness.
In this respect there is no inherent need for the text for it makes no difference to one's standing with "God", and simply serves as a vehicle and catalyst with which one small sect of society controls another greater portion of society by claiming divine providence over the moral habitus.....of course by divine will, as far as the text would have us believe.
The whole idea of the bible and the tax free real estate and financial chokehold it exercises over any society that embraces it is, completely antithetical to the message of the superior moral standing of those who claim that arbitration.
Churches as a creation of revere to a devine creator seem purile in the face of a butterfly, or the miracle of child birth or any of the other wonders the universe has to offer.
Which is why in earthly terms the bible is no more than moral propaganda that benefits the clergy and state, by holding those with no tangible power over proceedings accountable for there actions and protects the seat of those who claim it's providence.
The truth is the truth, I see it in the actions of my fellow men and in the majesty of all that is and those two things very often do not correlate as those arbiters would claim they do.
"Oh but that's the devil's work", really?
      1. Who created the devil? and 2. If this be the case, then the "Lord" ain't so omnipotent as they would have us believe......or he is in cahoots with the evil one, in moulding his own and our predetermined fate.
The sheer audacity of the morally enlightened to meddle in the predetermination of their self professed superior and his evil counterpart is futile to the point of comedy.....and look what they do, in his name, to his fair creation.
This is the truth, the bible tells me more about human nature than it ever will about the nature of "God".

These guys presented their reasoning, while not being specific about the reasons why the scholarly concensus does not agree with Hillman. As someone who has learned from Hillman and appreciates some of his ideas, he is also not a restrained or disciplined thinker or debater. He should stick to clearly presenting the sources he's an expert in and then walk back some of his claims, instead allowing guys like this to explain why they think all the words and phrases that have pharmacological and cult contexts in other classical literature (sometimes contemporary with biblical literature) do not or cannot apply in any way to the Bible. I believe them that the biblical tradition is different from Greek tradition. I also am convinced by ideas like those presented in Muraresku's "the Immortality Key," which is significantly informed by Hillman's research.

Hebrew has a vocabulary of 8000 individual words. Greek has a vocabulary of 250,000 to 500,000+ individual words. Extraordinary. The fact that the ancient Greek language not only stopped being spoken but also stopped being used to write and teach people to read is extremely suspicious given that the Roman's loved and admired everything Greek. Even quoted by many historians allegedly claiming that Roman's preferred everything Greek claiming it to be far superior in every way; culture, architecture, religion, government, mathematics et cetera. We only have to look to the meteoritic rise of Christianity and the Roman Catholic Church to understand why Dark Ages and death followed it wherever it went.

He says the purple dye found at a dig close to me is some form of drug. It's not its a dye:
6,6'-Dibromoindigo, also known as Tyrian purple, possesses a unique chemical structure that contributes to its vibrant color and historical significance. The molecule consists of two indigoid units, which are linked by a central carbon-carbon double bond. Each indigoid unit contains a six-membered benzene ring fused to a five-membered nitrogen-containing ring called an indole. Two bromine atoms are attached to the benzene rings at the 6th position (relative to the indigoid unit linkage). This specific arrangement of atoms allows the molecule to absorb light in the visible spectrum, resulting in the deep purple color we see.
Thats not the only thing that doesn't add up properly.
If people would do their own research.
I'm not sure the whole thing is just a show. He's playing the anti-christ.

Hilman is not crazy and he is excellent at reading Greek. The language our Bible was translated from. He makes a point that many people are not aware of. Ancient Greek has up to 500,000 individual words, ancient Hebrew had at most 9,000 individual words.
Ancient Hebrew is lacking terribly to compare how basic this is, modern English has about 120,000 individual words. Languages shape

I need to say a few things, and yes, I am playing devil's advocate here, how do you know he isn't right and you are wrong or vice versa? The fact that none of us are capable of reading these texts as he does, lends itself for more learning, instead of saying, "Well, the dude looks crazy, talks crazy and might be on drugs." GIVE ME EXAMPLES, facts, or how he is reading this wrong... otherwise you look like a proud fool with nothing to add in terms of context or knowledge. We need to know. This will change the way people look at Jesus and history in general.
