      Hahaha great analogy. However, you don't go out and start LARPing around as a SpecOps guy just because you played some CoD. Tactibros withstanding. Women have a unique challenge here though, and many can't help but fall into the fantasy because of hypergamy. Sadly, a lot of young impressionable minds are being misled by modern media these days.

      @@deepestsleeep almost all 3rd world countries show their population is increasing even though the economic condition is so bad. People from developed countries such as Singapore, Japan or S.Korea are having a different life style, demand and education background.
      In the past If people work hard, it was not difficult to buy a house as now. How much is housing coast in Singapore, Korea, Japan or Shanghai now? Its crazy price.
      Also, There are plenty of things that people can enjoy their life without marriage or having a child.
      Therefore people rather choose to live single or kidless life than marriage or life as a parents.
      When S.Korea was poor, everyone was poor at that time but now, people comparing their life to other and wanna be better and want more which is happening in every modern society.
      Society is also change by the time as human does.
      Its so wrong you compare S.Korea in 1950th to S.Korea 2020th. Totally different conditions.

      People in developed countries have different standards of living in their youth, so they expect to give the same standard or better to their family, otherwise they would’ve failed as parents, whereas people in developing countries only know poverty, so they are fine struggling to provide for themselves and their family, in fact it’s seen as heroism.
      Our global population has actually peaked though, regardless of where you’re from. Even the poorest country have decreasing birth rates. Our governments all over the world have relied on a pyramid scheme of people giving birth to support the people at the top (the elderly) and soon most of us will experience the same problem. There won’t be enough people to support the genz or millenials when we get old, and our retirement age will increase, and we’ll be homeless at the first sign of trouble with our health or finances. If climate change doesn’t get us first.

    I don't like people treating this "people don't want to marry and have kids" as some huge mystery. The reasons are obvious and apparent, in big cities people are living in extremely competitive environments, where they are demanded to focus 100% on their jobs. Not to thrive, just to barely survive. There it is, mystery solved.
    If you want people to have romance and children then don't treat them as robots, have a society where there is balance between work and personal life, and give them salaries that actually allow them to be mostly worry free.

    The solution is pretty simple really. In Korea to do a marriage ceremony it cost more than in Europe and America. Govt needs to reign in and make the process less pricey by opening govt schemes and reducing private sectors running as marrage ceremony agency and off course benefits for child care too. This will help a lot

      Then it's a social thing. Marriage ceremony (the one that takes a lot of money) is actually optional. Registering a marriage is not too hard nor expensive. But the social pressure to have a (lavish) ceremony along with it is so high, that almost nobody would get married without one. Especially in todays' "me me me" influence of having "being a princess in the most important day in life" thing.

    • @zenastronomy
      @zenastronomy 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      @@wakaneutyep. but it also takes a lot of social pressure to cohabit and have bastard children. they able to do that nonetheless.
      the reality is, these couples want an out. they want to be able to leave when they want to. and that marriage oath is suffocating for them.
      the problem with that is, it destroys any security in the relationship, ultimately dooming it to failure.
      and it destroys any children born in that relationship, due to the instability of that relationship.
      there is a reason society evolved marriage as the most stable way of organising society peacefully for the most prosperity.

    • @MachVini
      @MachVini 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The modern society is too much sinked in hollywood movies and disney stories.
      No wonders people can't dissociate marriage from a lavish cerimmony, just like the comment above. A marriage is a commitment made by a man and a woman before God, and two witness.
      Don't confuse it with cohabiting, which is wrong.
      Spiritually they are totally different, and this impact the life of the couple and their future children.

As women are very educated here and we have gender equity policies, 48% of the task force are female. Women doesn’t need marriage as a financial protection. A couple is mainly base on love. Everyone understandably loves the fantasy of being married to the perfect wife and having beautiful obedient children with no worries in the world.
    But the reality is for majority of people, once you get married and have children - you live day to day for your children and their needs. Only people with children will feel this incredible urge to nurture and ensure the future of their offspring.
    If you are childless and you don't know what you're missing - you may not feel this kind of urge.
    That may be why its easy for this generation to remain single and childless - you won't miss what you never had.

    • @wuy4
      @wuy4 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Modern youth don't want kids because kids bring net negative value to their life. They used to work on the farm, or you can send them to the factories, somewhat offsetting their cost to the parents. Now, kids are more expensive than ever to raise (higher life standards), and bring less value than ever before. Society doesn't enforce them to be a parent's retirement plans like they were supposed to be for thousands of years of human history. And we have better alternatives for retirement savings now. Your 401k account won't just "find themselves" and decide it doesn't want to talk to you again or never pay out.
      Kids are fun, but so are pets and video games. The only way we get high birthrates again is for "raising children" to be a profitable life-event for most people. "Desire for children" alone won't do it. The proof is in the statistics. Add a 10% lifetime earnings tax on children that goes to the parents and watch the birthrate boom happen.

      I mean being one before God, the law, society or anything you believe in... saying that you are commited and making it official are two different things, since just being commited to stay together has literally no weight what so ever (what could your dad do if your mom leaves him... legally next to nothing)... if you are serious about being together, just make it official... if anything the goverment gives you benefits (at least in my country) and panishes infidelity and stuff like that

      @P.90.603 I don't know how it works in the USA, but the one who breaks it should be the one getting punished because that is common sense. I guess the USA system is stupid.
      Also, as a Christian, the part about becoming one before God seems more important to me than the legal paperwork, which might lead to us not being able to agree. But even when I was atheist I regarded marriage as the ultimate showing of love, since you elevate the relationship to something more special and become one family. Having legal protection is just a bonus and at least in Europe it works just fine (From what I have seen)

    Getting married in the honeymoon phase of the relationship is risky. If you want to be happy together longterm, you still have to like each other without the rose-coloured glasses. So, even though I know that South Korea is quite conservative in many ways, it sounds odd to me that living with your partner without being married is so controversial there. No wonder that so many young people avoid dating in general if they are expected to get married quickly.

They are educative and I have a lot of friends, even South Korean who follow this path, many international and interfacial marriages are successful . They usually have 3- 5 children. Stop copying Americans. America is backwards. Relationships are not progressive and or productive. We have the worst success when it comes to relationships. 80% of the women divorce men and if not divorce 80% of women break up with men. 35% of men failed paternity which means the women cheated. False accusations. Women are unstable mentally and emotionally. They have been ran through by hundreds of men and they admitted themselves and think its okay.
      Living together without any commitment and trying to “figure it out through the years” is a waste of time especially for women. They have a biological clock and the older, the more risky it is for their health to have babies. Its backwards and not productive. “Oh lets live together to see if it works out” sounds like both dont know if they are compatible and what to look for. They have not self reflected. If they dont know from the start it is just the “blind, leading the blind” it never ends good.

If one broadens one's perspective even more, there are plenty of functionally single mother families where men/fathers/ husbands might not be absent completely from the home, but are absent emotionally, financially, and practically. As an older Asian American, I'm thinking of my experience with families from older generations. Then, there are the women who choose to be single mothers which I would guess is less common in Asian cultures which tend to be more conservative. Perhaps it's more common here in the US, but I'm hearing more and more how common single mothers are by choice in Europe.

And as such it's useful to see what happens there to understand what are the factors that make fertility rate so low, such that you can come up with solutions at home. I don't understand why people are not wise enough to see the true reason. People want children not because they can affordable it easily. There are many things people are willing to sacrifice to obtain something, it is just that children and marriage are slowly becoming not one of these things. When you have to have children yet not really wanting it among other things, you obviously will be calculative. If people only want children when they can easily afford it, they seriously shouldn't be having children. Therefore, the real solution is not making it affordable, it will always hardly be affordable to people who have stronger 'wants' in their lives. It is grooming the new generation to want children more than anything else.

I feel that modern societies are not more aware, they are more distracted by other 'wants' in life. It is not a bad thing, it is arrogant to think humanity has to last forever. Cause the marriage laws make marriage a dangerous game for a man to do in South Korea. You need lots of money to do and you can lose lots of your wealth if she's no longer happy with you and want a new man.

    It's better than forced marriages in many islamic countries and South Asia. That's how the TFR is high here. 😑
    As soon as the woman turns 22 they force her into a marriage even when she consistently says NO. Later Marital rape and later forced childbirth. Sexual and physical violence in marriage.
    Saw that from my own eyes...
    South Koreans women are luckier compared to them atleast.
