  • Danish hunter Jens hooks up with Brian Elwarth on a Alaskan bull moose hunt. Jens passes on a big bull in the first 4 hours of his hunt??? Maybe not so smart but after a long week of hunting Brian finds another monster

The couch arrived in two boxes four days early, which was great because we'd just moved into a new house and needed places to sit. My son and I put it together pretty quickly th-cam.com/users/postUgkxitRzxya-XugamYgLwa_2G1gxPg4MCJHa . Another reviewer suggested inserting the seat into the side and I'm glad they did as the instructions weren't clear on that matter. It's incredibly light and slides easily across the wood floor, making it easy to move. It's firm, but comfortable. It will even be great to nap on. I got the gray, which definitely has strong blue undertones, but I'm okay with that.

I don't agree with trophy hunting however I thank you, the guide and hunter, for being very nature conscious and not shooting everything in site and allowing the smaller bulls to grow and prosper more of their young in the herd for more years to come.

+K Holst I thought the same thing. I grew up on a farm in the backcountry and slaughtered untold numbers of chickens, steer and pigs. I understand where food comes from probably more than 90% of these Cabellos weekend warriors do. Since those days I've never had much of a taste for killing fellow mammals or trophies for that matter. But I was raised around hunters that were conscientious like this. These days I'm sickened by what I see a half wit jackass with a gun doing to the balance of what wilderness remains. Like that American clunge moron who shot the theme park lion in Africa last year. I tip my hat to these guys' approach...wasn't expecting a pass on that first bull. The exceptional call..

Amazing Moose Brian, well done--leaving the first Bull was a gamble that paid off, showed the hunter was prepared to hold out for a giant and was obviously rewarded, reading all the experts comments on this feed makes me laugh...

100 percent organic meat. Those that judge hunters have no problem if somebody else kills their retired milk cows, pork etc that are laced with drugs etc. Nice job and congrats on the hunt. I just shot my own not far from my house, it was a much smaller animal, 9-point bull but gave me around 500 pounds of meat to freeze, anymore and I would not have any room lol

      Hey, Cowboy-
Question for you, though probably better for the guides....and its strictly for information only, not judgmental.
I see these people, like this nice couple, who come from all over the world to hunt a "trophy" bull moose. My hunting experience has been pretty much birds (dove, quail)..and reading your post, sounds like you are a good ethical, consumer hunter. But - in cases like this, isn't the cost to "pack" that meat back to their homes incredibly expensive? What is the process for that? Is it processed and shipped- donated? Just curious..
But then again, if you can afford the airfare, guide, etc. for a $10k hunt, I guess the Fed Ex bill would be the least of your worries! LOL Thx.

    • @CowboyAxe
      @CowboyAxe 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Most trophy hunters here take their meat home to consume. So they are only trophy hunters in regard to having horns to brag about. I am a licensed guide and if anybody only wanted a rack and to waste the meat, it would insult me. Anyway yes most will get the meat ready and take it home to share with their family. Very good question you asked, I only gave you my own experience but I suspect many guides and outfitters feel the same. Thank you... They have the money to come and to ship their meat back, or drive it back on ice to process on their own if not here.

No need for apologies maxflyman 54. Here in Newfoundland we are blessed to have great moose hunting right from our door step. I can literally leave my house on my ATV and within 10 minutes be in the thick country surrounded by numerous game animals including moose. Once we harvest an animal we take the quarters home and hang them for about a week (depending on the weather and temperature) to age the meat. Then we take it to a local butcher who will usually charge a couple hundred bucks to cut it up into steaks, roasts, ground meat or whatever you like. If you want sausages made then it will be a little more expensive but not much.

We hunted sika with Brian nearly 10 years ago. My brother had an opportunity first day and took a nice one. For the following 5 days we only had one other opportunity which I used to take a nice one too. If my brother passed it up day one someone would have gone home empty handed. That is hunting, but you generally can't look a gift horse in the mouth. Glad it paid off this time though 👍

Brian at 1:50 min you say that one should never pass on a trophy that one would be happy to bring home. Maybe Jens wanted a little more than 4 hours of hunting? Especially after having travelled so far from his home in Denmark. You have to realise that sometimes the hunting experience is the greatest part of the goal. Personally I too would have passed after only 4 hours. Even if I had to go back home without a trophy.

Went on my Moose hunt in the Yukon in 2002 lost three days to bad weather , passed on six trophy bulls over the next seven days and finally shot my trophy bull on the penultimate day before we were due to fly out, that was a totally nerve racking hunt thought i had made the biggest mistake ever in my hunting career. My monster came out at 63 inch and scored 220 B&C so i claimed that my patience had finally paid off in the end. You pay your money and take your chance , hunting is hunting nothing is guaranteed !!! Super bull your guy shot though, know exactly how he felt.

Alaska regulations are here and are in a pdf format. It is EXACTLY as the printed book available from any vendor ( store) that sells licenses and from ADF&G offices.
For license and tag info check the book for outfitting and guide prices consult the Alaska Outdoor Council : alaskaoutdoorcouncil.org/
But I would guesstimate that "TheDrummerman1951" is probably pretty close at $10,000.

I don't know what to think about that...seen from Europe, it could be a shame to shoot such majestic animal...but, in the great wild Alaska, maybe there are too many of them....If you shoot one, and use it to the last pound, i suppose it's better than supermarket meat... I don't think it's allowed to shoot one every week end, responsablesl hunters will not do that anyway...

Moose hunting is sorta alright i think, I wish it was called something else then "thropy" hunting since that just sounds far too greedy. If you kill any animal for a "thropy" its wrong, if you kill it for the food, i see the point in it.
But for animals like Fox, Arctic fox, Bears, Wolf, Ibex, Mountain sheep etc i totally dont agree with it and I think its really wrong.. Why would you shoot an animal for the gain of money when you can make fabricated fur that looks identical but does not hurt the animal.
And dont bullshit me with "But we need clothing".. We dont need fur clothing anymore.
And i dont care about farmers cattles, If you release the sheep / cows into the forest where the bears, wolf belong and live, I mean thats like gift wrapping a hamburger and serving it for free.

Just say you do not like hunters instead of doing philosophical lectures.

My freezer is full and I dont have to go to the grocer
      Which humans will survive.
Hunter gatherers will. You who dont hunt will starve when the world becomes a tougher place to live
Your ancestors obviously hunted or you wouldnt be here so change your tune or you will not survive

"Out looking for a moose to shoot". You say it so casually, how about you get a new hobby and stop killing innocent sentient beings..

    • @sikahunting
      @sikahunting  8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

I might consider a new hobby thanks
I might try fishing that sounds like fun
I hunt for a living I am hunting 300 days a year all around the world killing animals and getting paid for it
I can asure you I will not stop working I enjoy it to much
      So the hunting will continue
I will think of you when we go to find another moose to shoot
      Thanks for the motivation

I just realized that YOU are the one that posted this. I didn't mean to over shout you about the regs etc. but Some folks weren't listening.
BTW what would YOU charge a non resident for a full boat Moose, or Moose/ Caribou hunt? besides the required licenses and tags of course.

I don't know what to think about that...seen from Europe, it could be a shame to shoot such majestic animal...but, in the great wild Alaska, maybe there are too many of them....If you shoot one, and use it to the last pound, i suppose it's better than supermarket meat... I don't think it's allowed to shoot one every week end, responsablesl hunters will not do that anyway...

vital guillin it's highly regulated in Alaska especially if you are a foreigner. Only rich foreigners can hunt, very expensive.
