They are still together and have toured in Europe, the U.S., Mexico as that I know of. They have over 100 songs covering various genre and melding various genres into single songs. This MV was their first but they have many more on their YT channel. If you watch their live performances you'll need a couple of bottles. More recent live concerts, 2019-2021 would be songs like Domination, Freedom, Manners, Day Dreaming, I could go on but their are so many to choose.
Hey Cash, These girls are the real deal. They are Hard Rock and are still together and better then ever. Try a live video which is where they really shine brightest. From their YT channel: DOMINATION-LIVE or FREEDOM-LIVE will get that full wine bottle flowing. BAND-MAID is AWESOME. Peace.
awesome first reaction. these ladies write and compose their own music since then and are probably one of the best hard rock bands today. if you see more, you will be pleased.
Thanks for the reaction. Yes they are still together and have come a long way in every sense, it almost makes me feel nostalgic. BTW today is the bassist Misa's 29th birthday if I'm correct. Happy birthday Misa! Thanks for staying in the band.
Had to laugh at what you said about it really being them playing, because to be truthful that was my very first thought and why I didn't even click on it the first 3 or 4 times I saw the link. Three years later they are still my favorite band - and as good as this is, they've come a LONG way with their skills since this. Don't stop with this one, whatever you do! They are so fun and they just kick ass!!
Yes, as you know, they are all playing their own instruments (at least in the studio), except for Miku, who at this point couldn't play guitar and had her parts played by Kanami. As you alluded to, this is just a teaser for what's to come. 😉
This is their very first Music Video from years ago, and they just keep getting better and better. They have turned out hit after hit and keep getting bigger.. They consider themselves a Hard Rock band, but they really have no genre. They're either genreless or a genre unto themselves. With many influences like Rock. Power Pop, Punk, Funk Metal and Jazz they shapeshift from song to song, sometimes within the same song. And don't forget their April Fool's Day persona, BAND-MAIKO where they blend in traditional Japanese instruments. But LIVE is where they really shine. Check out the Official LIVE videos. They never disappoint. And, if you're not into one song, you might like the next one. They have something for everyone.
Welcome to the Band Maid journey! You had better get the Wine ready! No bad songs from these amazing ladies, and they spread themselves over many genres! In this particular video, Miku Kobato, the girl with the red rose was not actually even able to play guitar at the time, but has been learning from, tutored, by Kanami Tono, the lead guitarist, and works hard to get better and better! This is one of the few videos where Misa, bass guitar, is wearing shoes, as she is now know as the "Barefoot Assassin". They are all world class musicians, and the concept for the maid costumes came from Miku, who worked in a Maid Café before forming this band. The costumes have had several variations over the years, I think they are on gen 5 now. Band Maid is still together and rocking the world! There are several songs from them released in 2021 off their latest album, "Unseen World", and they show amazing musical progress! "Warning", "Manners"," Afterlife", "No God" to name a few! A ballad from them, again from this year, is "About Us", and was a gift to their fans. There is a long back story about that song, but suffice to say it was a love song to their fans! "Onset" is a world class instrumental song from Band Maid and really shows the musical abilities of the Maids! Enjoy the ride!
Konniche-wa Cash! I was introduced to this band by Father and Son Reactions a while ago. The band's image is based on the Japanese 'maid café' culture, which are some sort of costume-themed restaurants in Japan in which the waitresses are dressed like French maids and act like servants, so once you recover from that culture shock (and don't tell the Marxists that have infiltrated the 'womanist' movement in the west) they're an enthusiastic metal rock band. F&S had a lot of questions on their 'Band Maid - Play' reaction, so I posted some research: Formed 2013 by singer/guitarist Miku Kobato, former employee of a Japanese maid café, recruited lead guitarist Kanami Tōno, a singer-songwriter in her own right, and she suggested drummer Akane Hirose. Hirose suggested bassist Misa, who attended the same music school with Hirose. After first performing as a four-piece they recruited an additional lead singer Saiki Atsumi from auditions and performed as a five-piece band. Their debut mini-album Maid In Japan was written in collaboration with musicians Masahiko Fukui and Kentaro Akutsu. The latter being from a band called Zero. There's a great deal of further history on Wiki, but I picked up on an interesting footnote about their third full length album Conqueror in 2019, that featured a song produced by Tony Visconti - The Dragon Cries. Visconti is a notorious [British] producer going back to the '60s when he managed The Move in the mid-'60s before they fired him for getting them into trouble with some of his outrageous publicity stunts, and replacing him with Don Arden (later manager of ELO and Ozzy Osbourne, and Sharon Osbourne's father). Visconti notably produced many times for David Bowie over the years from late 1968 to 2016. - So Cash, they write lyrics mostly in Japanese with just a few words and phrases in English, so "dynamite" I think is mis-heard Japanese, it's not in the English lyrics. They have been writing their own material since 2016. Someone posted a comment on F&S that Band-Maid are producing albums faster than they are producing Band-Maid reactions, so there's plenty of material to explore! 'Dice' features some terrific guitar and bass work - it was the first reaction I saw and my comment was "fascinating" (I don't think I got the licence number of the truck that hit me). Two other Japanese girl groups I've been introduced to are Babymetal and Lovebites, and they're just as enthusiastic. As a long time Formula 1 motor racing fan I know the Japanese are great anglo-philes and are very enthusiastic fans of everything we do, so they way they have taken to rock music (and French maids?) shouldn't really be that surprising. They play like they can't get enough of it. I feel like giving a standing ovation when I see and hear things like this. Full bottle of wine for me!
Band Miad are a warehouse full of Dom Perignon! Still going strong and getting better and better, this was their first big hit. I would suggest you watch 'Freedom' the official live video next and let their energy fill your glass to the full. Most of all I hope your Band Maid journey is as enjoyable as mine has been !
Congratulations, you've just started at the "tasting" level for this amazing group of super talented musicians. Not only are they still around, they have released five albums and performed numerous major live concerts in Japan, Europe and the U.S. since this debut MV was released. You can see the latest, live version of this song (with subtitles) recorded within the last year for a direct comparison - but there is so much more. I am sure you will receive no shortage of suggestions and information on the ladies from there very passionate and active "Madiacs" fan base !
Power - House Rockers every way you play it ! I like Band Maid, and they're a new band for me this last year. Heavy beat, heavy chords - no prisoners taken ! Loved the music/video - i world give it a full bottle myself (that's just me tho' 😀) ! And thank you so much for this great reaction, Cash - you rock !
Cash, just noticed you are with Endeavor. I can definitely see you two are related. Make sure you both enjoy BAND-MAID. They are FUN and AWESOME ladies. Peace.
I think you were generous by awarding that old video so much wine. Seven years and countless epic songs later, yes, that amazing band is not only still playing together, but has grown into becoming one of the top rock bands of all time. That "Thrill" video was filmed when they were young. They're now around 30 years old, one of them turned 29 today, and they matured in the way they dress (you might be too tolerant -- to me, maybe I am the prude, but I think they dressed too sxy back then), and not only do they play their own instruments, but those musicians mastered their instruments. I'm not exaggerating that their bass player might be the greatest electric bassist ever. I consider her the Ray Brown of her generation. Their drummer is already among the all-time rock music greats, and their lead guitarist is not only an amazing soloist but she might be one of the top 5 rock music composers ever. But, hey, I'm terribly biased. :-) I strongly recommend watching some of their official live videos filmed at their Feb. 2020 concert to see what that band can do. Check out live "Domination", "Play", and "Freedom". And, you might need to have a CASE of wine ready.
Yeah, Thrill is often chosen by the reactors who see BAND-MAID for the first time, simply because it's got the greatest number of views. But I agree, those views are there mostly for historical reasons, it's their oldest MV. I know that REAL EXISTENCE live 2018, which is officially published on their channel, often produces the best result. People are impressed with the energy, and also see BAND-MAID on stage, how they interact with the crowd and among themselves. Crowdless performances of the COVID era are not so impressive, of course. BAND-MAID feeds on the crowd, while the crowd feeds on them.
@@VladimirChupin Absolutely! That band feeds off its audience, and that energy makes all the difference. Band-Maid was built for the live stage. Big rooms, big crowds, big productions.
Oh, one more thing about recent things this band has been doing. They just appeared in the movie Kate, which appears on Netflix. In fact it was the number one movie on Netflix for a while. Band Maid appears in a concert scene and a second song is used when one of the characters is driving in a car. But, as others have said, they are quite prolific. They have released over 100 songs in eight years.
But it did nothing to help increase their popularity world wide. They got like 2-3 % bump in subscribers and followers on their channel. And I'm a big supporter of them and want to see them to achieve all their dreams and goals. And hope they are around for many more years to give is much more. But everyone keeps bringing up Kate. Like as if it's like they played the halftime at the Superbowl. Any exposure is of course plus. But in the grand scheme of things. Their appearance on that show gained them pretty much nothing.
@@chuckvelten5337 actually my point is that she may have watched the movie herself, saw the band and didn’t know it. Coincidences like that happen. Just trying to remind her in case she did watch the movie. Perhaps someone reading the comment might be interested in watching the movie themselves. She did ask what they were doing recently. No one is comparing it to the Superbowl, at least my comment is not.
@@mbolden1 10-4 but the week it was released everyone was going nuts over it. And I thought I missed out on something. And it was mostly a lip synced partial clip of them performing in a club. It seemed everyone was making something out of nothing. And getting people that didn't see yet, hopes up. Take care !
@@chuckvelten5337 It was a stinky movie and they didn't have much but I'm still thrilled that they were in a US movie with Woody Harrelson, even if he probably never shot in Japan. Incidentally if you look at comments in official videos now you'll see "came from KATE" comments. 2% is actually big. I think a lot of that is from just catching on. I think they did it as much for status as exposure and even more because it was a new and cool experience.
@@jefffromchicago6321 Their channel in the 2-3 weeks after the airing of it. Went up from like 415,000 to around 419,000. worldwide. If you think that's a great result for that. Then I got some swamp land in Tahiti I'd like to sell you. I love this incredible band, amazing musicans and their great songs. But no one is allowed to question, challenge or be critical of anything they do. And I think that's really kind of disturbing. And of you do, your piled on and maliciously attacked by their so called "fans". Gets tired stale and old after a while. And God forbid if you're critical about them charging for everything now. With their multiple fan clubs and prime and all that. You buy a DVD, shirt and maybe a poster. And it could run you like 300 dollars, and that's insane ! Again I think they're the best rock group to come along in decades. But something tells me if they weren't these attractive Japanese women. Rather then a bunch of 200 lb. sweaty dudes with tattoos. Many if not all their fans would be treating them differently. And singing a different song about much of all this. And that's the problem I have. I think it's disingenuous at best. Have a great one !
Female rock and metal bands are a very real thing in Japan. There are hundreds of such bands working at any given time in Japan. Many of these bands have musicians that rival, and in many cases, surpass what you will hear from their male counterparts. The musicians in Band Maid have written their own music for years now and always played their own instruments and are much better today than when they made this video. Please check out some live Band Maid songs such as Domination or Freedom to get a feel of what they do in concerts. You could also check out a band called Lovebites for Set the World on Fire or Holy Wars to see a female band play thrash/power metal. Their musicians are outstanding and you would be hard pressed to find many male bands that could pull it off as well.
This song is the make-it-or-break-it video for Band Maid. In fact at this point Miku couldn't even play the guitar since she thought she was only going to be a vocalist in the band. However this song did so well they decided that Band-Maid was going to be a successful project and this gave them the exposure and financial wherewithal to get started.
Welcome to the party. Been following them till now (waiting for their new single on Monday or Tuesday next week) many good recommendations in the comments. A few more and you will be a true Maidiac. The bass player just turned 30 today wow. over 5k views in 2 days. Hope you return to some more of them

It's a music video, so they're miming here, but when the song was recorded the bass part was performed by the bassist, the drumming by the drummer, and *all* of the guitar parts were played by the lead guitarist. 2nd guitar / 2nd vocalist Miku Kobato, the band's founder, had only started studying the guitar a few months earlier and if you watch her here you can tell she's faking it. This was their very first music video. The band had been together less than a year when they made this. They're still together 7 years later. Their music covers a wide range of styles, from lush beautiful rock ballads ("Daydreaming", "Endless Story", "Wonderland"), Aggressive hard rock ("Real Existence", "Dice", "Blooming", "Bubble"), Slower, old-fashioned hard rock stompers ("Manners", "The Dragon Cries"), Buddhist speed metal("Rinne"), fast, dense, seemingly chaotic thrashers ("Different", "Black Hole"), etc etc. Oh yeah, starting with the December 2020 video for "Different", they have been putting English translations on CC. They have gone back and added them to a few of their older videos, including this one.
Just wanted to add that Miku has improved quite a bit since then. She has become a competent rhythm guitarist during their shows. She is never going to replace Kanami as lead, but she definitely allows the band to have a much fuller sound these days.
Saw them at Summer Sonic. During the sound check Miku walked up front and center and ripped out a kick-ass solo. She had a little sly Mona Lisa smile that seemed to say- yeah I'm not as good as Kanami but I'm better than all you critics. ( know your not criticizing, she was probably thinking of the select- jerk)
Welcome to the pigeon hole . Band Maid is the best hard rock band in the world. Fans of Band Maid are called Maidiacs and are some the most loyal, respectful, and best people in the world . This band loves their fans so much they wrote not 1 but 2 love letters to them in songs called Smile and About us . Maidiacs heavily supports channels that support these ladies . I liked your reaction .i hope you will continue your journey with Band Maid they will never disappoint you and throw all expectations out because you'll never know what they will do .that is what makes them the best. Long Live the PO!
Great reaction! You've got a new sub. Yes, these ladies are still going strong. All are very accomplished musicians. Miku, (rhythm guitar, vocal, with twin tails) is the founder and "was" the one instrumental weak link. She initially intended to be the lead singer, but after a few rehearsals, she decided her voice wasn't powerful enough for hard rock, so she brought Saiki (lead vocal) on board and hit Kanami (lead guitar) up for guitar lessons. She practiced incessantly and has become a very solid rhythm player (this coming from a guy who's played rock guitar for over 30 years). To me, it says a lot about her character. She took a "back seat", backing Kanami on guitar and Saiki on vocal, in the band she founded! She cares more about what's best for the band than her own personal ego (very rare in Rock 'n' Roll). I raise my glass in hopes you'll continue the journey into their expansive catalog of fine rock! If you do, try a live clip next. They're much more of a "live" band ("Manners" is my personal favorite off their latest album).
also, as Howard from Baka Broadcast said a short while ago : it's one of the very few rock bands in which the lead singer and the lead guitarist takes a backseat and happily let the rhythm guitarist do all the PR and talking ;)
Thank you for doing a BAND-MAID video :-) They're the real deal, and the vast majority of their songs (all of them since they started writing their own stuff) are quite wholesome. I hope you do more of their songs. Later videos have subtitles. Love your dog! :)
Oh, be assured that these highly talented ladies play their instruments themselves! Well, you have to be honest that the band founder Miku (with the double braid) started learning how to play guitar only a few months before the recording of this video. So when you get right down to it, she's actually more of a visually appealing guitar stand with a good voice here in this video. :) Today, however, this is no longer true, because she is a workhorse and has really made it as a guitar player. This was not their first song, but the one with which they got attention. Meanwhile, their catalog counts well over 100 songs, and quite a few are convinced that these 5 ladies are the best the rock genre has seen and heard in decades. And with that, greetings from someone in Germany who thinks the same way. :) _____________________ 【 Our rock never dies ever. Forever! 】- from BAND-MAID 'Manners' 🕊
yes they exist now they have over 100 songs one better than the other, and for many people, they are the best rock band of today in the world. I think that is enough for a Japanese all-female band. I saw them three times in Europe in a single week, it was unforgettable. A real storm of great and emotional music. I suggest you watch other band maid videos on youtube maybe you will be surprised again.
This song is nothing compared to what she plays these day. If you watch the Manners/Black Hole video she is playing the bass almost like a second lead guitar.
Thrill got Band-Maid on the map, but OMG, have they evolved since 2014. Like a good wine, their music has a rich and complex bouquet of hard rock (After Life, Domination, etc.), ballads (Daydreaming, Endless Story, Anemone, etc.), Groove (Manners), slow burns (About Us, At the Drop of a Hat), and many other accents. But one thing that ties it all together is the consistently high quality of the songwriting. As one wine lover to another I urge you to continue listening to this band -- you will not be disappointed!
BAND MAID is a hard rock band, but it's a very diverse band. Listen to different types of songs. 1 Thrill : The first music video that saved them from dissolution. Classic rock 2014 2 Bubble : A tribute to the movie Bohemian Rhapsody, funky rock 3 Different : First anime opening song, new sense of high-speed rock. Anime is Log Horizon 3rd season. 4 Daydreaming : Beautiful power ballad. Kobato's backing vocals and Kanami's guitar solo are wonderful. 5 Dice : Rhythmic hard rock singing women's independence 6 about us : A gift for fans who cannot meet in a pandemic. Beautiful ballad. 7 Freedom : A power rock that walks around the stage and conveys a smile. The transition from drum solo to lead guitar is the best. 8 Manners : Declaration to create new hard rock while inheriting classic rock. Cool hard rock. Rock'n'Roll never die. 9 alone : The song they wrote, composed and released for the first time. Medium speed Hard Rock 2016 10 Secret My Lips and Secret Maiko Lips : Funky Hard Rock. A gift for fans of April Fool's Day . 11 Blooming : Vocals and chorus are impressive, and various types of music are fused. 12 RINNE : High-speed rhythmic heavy rock, inspired by the Japanese horror movie "RINNE : Reincarnation". RINNE (Reincarnation) is also found in Eastern thought and Buddhist thought. 13 onset : Instrumental song for lead singer Saiki breaks, their great playing power and harmony. 14 Before Yesterday : Record of the first overseas performance, Sakura-Con in Seattle 2016. Melodic Rock with great lyrics. Added ★ Peace & Love : Founder Miku Kobato's solo project. Pigeon saves the world. Funky pop rock.
It's interesting that when I finally watched that movie, RINNE/Reincarnation, and posted a comment about it on Reddit, it was immediately removed, with a very harsh comment from the moderators that it's "unrelated content." But I see that many fans actually believe that the movie was a foundation for the song. Of course, it's all very poetic, but I would say, I see how the lyrics are connected to the movie's plot and the overall feel.
@@VladimirChupin What I feel from the lyrics is that no matter how many times you are reborn, the world will not change unless you do something while you are alive. It is more important to live in the present than to live many times after being reincarnated.
@@toshimatyu6654 Yes, I agree. The girl in the movie is falling in the "dreams," from which she cannot escape. Thus, Miku says: Even if the dream ends No one comes to help I know… And that's how the movie ends: evil people continue to do their evil things, and the girl in the secure hospital can't separate reality from her dreams: It just doesn’t end Set me free Get down The last verse is for me sort of the cry from Miku herself to the main character in the movie: It’s sink or swim Shut up! I have had the same feeling about that girl. Why is she afraid so much of what's happening? Why does she indulge in her fright so much? If you are destined to die, then die with decency, and if there is a chance to live, then don't sink, swim! And already shut up, finally, your waning and cries are annoying! Kobato-san is such a great poet and philosopher...
Yup they are still around and have grown into one of the best bands in the world if not THE best. They have alot of stiff competition though coming from other Japanese all female bands.
They are one of the best hard rock bands around. This is just the beginning as they have progressed 10-fold since this song. Any song is a can’t miss, but you need to watch them live.
Band-Maid is a fantastic hard rock band. They are doing great!! Just released new album this year, just awesome stuff. Keep checking them out, you won't regret it!! Great reaction as well, thanks.
I'm 68, been a professional musician for over 50 years, and these girls are my favorite band, they are brilliant at melding styles and concepts, always fresh and thought provoking and most of all, entertaining! If we survive the global madness for me it will be in large part, due to the mental diversions of Kubato's creation! long live Band-Maid !
They are still together, performing, and now have a catalogue of over 100 songs. They have toured all over SE Asia, Europe, Mexico, and the U.S. multiple times. They're currently considered by many fans as the best hard rock band right now. They write their own songs with complex compositions; having multitudes of transitions and tempo changes. There are too many great songs to list but I'm sure you'll get lots of recommendations. Their songs in live performances are as good as their studio versions.
What happened to them? They released their 7th album back in February, had a cameo in the Netflix movie Kate, and are releasing a new single next week.
Well, to be honest, Miku, the second singer and founder, was still new to playing guitar so she hardly plays it in this video. However she learned fast! Proof is in their fantastic live videos. They are all extremely talented. I'd recommend a live video next. Wonderland, Freedom, Cross, Domination are all fantastic. They are still going with a song coming out this month in fact! They are getting more and more popular I think.
@@brianb6024 yes, originally the rhythm guitarist, Miku, was going to be the lead singer. They decided they needed a stronger voice and Miku was left without a job. So she decided to pick up a guitar and become the rhythm guitarist and backup singer. The lead guitarist, Kanami, became her teacher. Kanami would record both guitar parts for the albums, but in the beginning the live sound was usually pretty weak due to no true rhythm guitarist. But, Miku has grown tremendously and now handles the job quite well.
Band Maid has recorded over 7 albums in the years after this song. That's 100 plus songs . And like wine they have only gotten better with age. Their songs on YT have a total of 120 million views . Today is the bass player Misa's Birthday! Happy Birthday Misa !
p.s., and fyi, today, (October 15th in Japan), is Misa's (bass) 29th birthday. Lead guitarist Kanami, just celebrated her 30th birthday a couple of weeks ago, Miku (founder of the band - twin tails, rhythm guitar and vocals) also has an October birthday coming up, 31st I think. The drummer's name is Akane, and Saiki is the lead singer - front woman of the band.
MISA! MISA! MISA! Holding the Line in Solid Guitar Rock, Band Maid has picked up the Mantel of Rock'n'Roll where the West has left it behind! These ladies were set to take the World by storm in 2020 but you know what happened there and it kinda slowed down the whole process. The whole Japanese Rock and Metal Scene has surged over the last decade and there are some Fantastic Bands and Awesome Sounds coming out of the Land of the Rising Sun!! More Band Maid Always!! Put your Kitsune UP!! Po! P.S. Also check out 'Babymetal', 'Lovebites', 'Nemophila' and sooo many more!!
Alright, let's break out the whole case!!! 🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺 If you like Vixen, Precious Metal, or Lita Ford, you'll love these gals from the Land Of The Rising Sun! 🌞 🌞 🌞 🌞 🌞
This is the band's very first music video I'm so glad you picked it because if you go down this pigeonhole you will get two see their growth they all play their instruments now unfortunately the pigeon who created his band was humble enough to realize that she was putting it together that her vocals might not be strong enough and they got psyche and she almost presumptively put herself out of the band that's when Konami stepped in and said she would teach you how to play guitar now he plays just as good as anybody this band every one of them is phenomenal on their instruments it just goes to show that if you practice hard Focus on your craft that you two could play like a girl
They're one of THE best rock bands out there now. Incredible musicians who write their own music and lyrics....if you delve into BAND-MAID you'll be in an alcoholic coma.
Well... MISA to the rescue! 😂 Be like MISA, she gets only better with her bass as she gets drunk. Although she does it in a very measured way now. She said in an interview that initially she would sometimes drink too much from that whiskey bottle on her amp, and would not be able to play anymore. And would cry afterwards. But after so many years, she uses her drug of choice exactly in the proper amount.
This is one of the few newer bands I listen to. They are amazing! The Japanese music scene has so many talented all girl bands who play their asses off. Band maid is my favorite by far
Real Existence Alone, Daydreaming, Bubble, Endless Story and Manners. Check out those music videos by them. Then live try Domination, Play, Freedom and Choose Me. You will not be disappointed !
Great reaction Cash So you're Endevor cousin? You must tell her to react to BAND-MAID, these ladies need more exposure and your cousin is certainly going to like them as well. BAND-MAID are still playing and they released 6 albums since this music video. Thank you
Haha, I won't blame you, but you couldn't be more wrong at the end. This was their first video from 2014, but they're still around and better than ever. Some even say maybe the best hardrock band of today. Writing and, more important, playing all of their own songs for years now 😉

These young women are the real thing. Their talent and musical ability is off the scale and their latest music is far more complex than this the earliest offering. Listen to their latest music and reach for the magnum.
Robert Palmer.... first time I heard a reactor bring that up....Awesome!! You're on it! Better stock up if you listen to more....these girls are for real and deplete your wine cellar. Start with their earlier tunes and work your way up. Cheers!
Check out Band-Maid Live. They sound better live to me !! Try Dice, Play ,or Onset live These girls are for real !!! They have 7 albums and are the best rock band on earth now. This was their first music video. I'm 65 and have seen many bands like Hendrix , Pink Floyd , Black Sabbath and Deep Purple. These girls can play just as good or Better . Great Reaction
"Wow" is the correct first reaction to Band-Maid. From this video to the best musical act on the planet in 8 years is not too shabby. In 2021, it bothers me to hear people wonder if Band-Maid are playing their own instruments. I'm 63 and never heard ANYBODY say that about a bunch of dudes.
This is Band Maid in it's infancy, since this video was produced they have become probably the best working band on the planet today, and definitely the greatest live hard rock act hands down, I would encourage you to follow up on them as imo there's no other band going that can compare.
When this video first came out a lot of people didn’t believe the girls were playing the instruments so they released videos of their practices sessions as proof
Actually, one of the girls do not play her guitar. And that is one of the singers. But she learned and is very proficient right now. So, yes, the girls play their instruments. Looking at a live video and you will be entirely convinced. They are also unusually good at it.
You probably gave Maidiac's worldwide the vapor's by asking if they play their own instruments and if they've done anything else since this video was released 😂
Well, many people asked it initially. BAND-MAID was probably the first all-female band that was so technically proficient. Although I may be wrong about the timing. A whole lot of other bands with female shredders, bass slappers, and drum destroyers appeared during that era, like D_Drive, LOVEBITES, Dextrose, Gacharic Spin, Mary's Blood, ASTERISM, etc. But BAND-MAID was definitely at the forefront of that movement, and naturally, people were asking if they aren't fake.
@@VladimirChupin If you want to see the first all female rock band that was technically proficient with their instruments then you should check out a band from the early 70's called "Fanny". They were led by sisters June and Jean Millington, they're still playing today and run a rock music school for girls here in the US, they also had a documentary about them released this past year. You can see their videos old and new here on YT. In the words of Old Mr B Tick Tock Let's Rock!
Their live songs 2021 Thrill, No God, Warning, After Live, Manners and its time to look for all female Japanese Metal/Rock Band LOVEBITES - songs live 2021 Set The World On Fire, Dont Bite The Dust, Spellbound, Winds Of Transylvania NEMOPHILA - songs 2021 Revive, Blooming, Dissension, Raitei(Thunder) HANABIE - song We Love Sweets, LCG TRIDENT-JAPAN - songs Voltage, No Regret
Band-Maid-s TH-cam channel is a treasure trove of variety. The basic Band-Maid style is simply SKILLFUL PLAYING. If you like this speed, try Manners, Before yesterday, and Daydreaming. Ready to crank it up a notch? Real Existence, Alone, Non-fiction days, secret my lips. Want to see them get playful for an April Fools Joke? Secret MAIKO lips. Did you see them in Kate on Netflix? That movie featured Blooming and Choose Me. Seriously, if you like Thrill, you are going to love what these ladies can do. They are still going strong and working on their next album.
And ACOUSTIC OKYUJI on Christmas day was amazing! I can't wait to see what they will do for their next album. Sense single was amazing. Hibana/Spark and Corallium are masterpieces. But the next album may be either as heavy and prog as Unseen World, or lyrical and full of ballads like CONQUEROR. I will love it in any case. Although I do hope for something heavy... And progy... I'm a metalhead, I need the energy to carry me through in this miserable life...
you may need to buy a case of wine if you listen to some of their newer songs. these girls rock..i recomend checking out something live from them...honeslty any song is wont matter they are all great
I think it says a lot about the plight of women in the western music scene that anyone would even question whether they are playing their own instruments. All-female bands are just so rare here...yet in Japan, they are ten a penny. Why is it that young women are not encouraged to play musical instruments in the west - certainly not the guitar or drums. We think of women in music and we just think of singers/dancers. But anyway, glad you liked it, and as you'll be told a large number of times, this most definitely was not their peak. It was more like their first step up the foothills.
You've probably got about 100 + songs & videos to get through now. Many of them live performances. Try any of these. Play, Dice, Puzzle, Moratorium, Freedom, Domination, Warning. Or anything that any one suggests. You won't be disappointed with anything. My preference is always a live version. But many others prefer studio versions. Your call. Do a live & a studio version of the same song in the one reaction. I see you are a white wine drinker. I prefer a nice peppery Shiraz, or a full bodied Cabernet Merlot, with my music. Australian, of course. Always a full glass for any Band Maid song.
Although the Rythum player at the time of the video was not playing the rest were .. she has since learned to play and even has a guitar named for her from the Zamaitus Guitar Company .. if youbwant to see if they actually play I suggest you react to any of their official live performances that can be found on their TH-cam page .. I have yet to see any reactor get a strike from doing so ..
Welcome to the world of Band Maid! You will become a MAIDIAC! Yes - you will believe! Nothing fake with these ladies! Verify with a live performance. Recommend - ABOUT US - DOMINATION - PLAY - DAYDREAMING - . There are 8 albums worth of music all are on Spotify. Too many to name here! You will learn soon enough that these ladies ROCK! They mix English with Japanese in most of their songs. They are a very talented group. They are all well trained in various instruments. Still going strong!! They perform live concerts on the internet due to lock down restrictions - they really want to do another world tour! ABOUT US is a song for us fans in lockdown as well. oh honayyyyyy !!!! you better chug that wine. band-maid ROCKS !!!!! if they have done well ??? now gurl. they are dominating the world. when they play the us, they sellout every show. there music gets more stronger and exciting. fill that glass and shake that a$$ . band-maid is life. welcome to the pigeon party.
"These girls are all playing these instruments. Right?" Hahaha. Yes and No. The lead guitarist, bassist, and drummer were already very skilled musicians, but the rhythm guitarist (red rose) just started to learn how to play her guitar at the time of filming this MV. They have made so much progress over 7 years, and they have become the most fun band to watch and listen to on this planet. This is a true live band, so I suggest you to check their live video. How about Domination (live) or Freedom (live) next. If you want to check out more recent one, Manners/Black Hole (live) video will be a good one. Have a happy Band-Maid journey! Stay safe and Peace&Love, PO (P_O)🕊💕
Peace.
@@ShikataGaNai100 I think Cash may need to buy a whole winery.😀
Good idea for a channel👍 I'd be chugging the whole bottle as soon as i heard it was BAND-MAID :)
Gary, she gave an them an acceptable "a pretty nice glass of wine".You know for us whiskey and beer Maidiacs, an empty glass means it's perfect 😉🥃🥃🍺🍺🍺
I don't think 1 bottle would be enough for Band-Maid. Better make that a couple of bottles.
Yes you would! 😂
I agree with all of you. I don't know what you'd call it overseas but we'd call it "Having a session" :)
You'd be an alcoholic for sure. Maybe needing a liver transplant.
awesome first reaction. these ladies write and compose their own music since then and are probably one of the best hard rock bands today. if you see more, you will be pleased.
Thanks for the reaction. Yes they are still together and have come a long way in every sense, it almost makes me feel nostalgic.
BTW today is the bassist Misa's 29th birthday if I'm correct.
Happy birthday Misa! Thanks for staying in the band.
This is a good one, Cash. Thanks for reacting! :) Cheers from northeast Ohio
Thanks for tuning in....!
Hope you have a whole wine cellar for *BAND-MAID* reactions 😁😁😁
F&S had a lot of questions on their 'Band Maid - Play' reaction, so I posted some research:
Formed 2013 by singer/guitarist Miku Kobato, former employee of a Japanese maid café, recruited lead guitarist Kanami Tōno, a singer-songwriter in her own right, and she suggested drummer Akane Hirose.
I think you meant they recruited the lead vocalist Saiki Atsumi, not guitarist. Cheers 😎
@@jimbuechler9546 - corrected both posts. Thanks.
@@davemac1197 Anytime 😎
Calling Babymetal a girl band is quite the stretch. The actual band consists of male musicians.
Is there something called "Dom Pigeon"?
I would have a case of that! PO!
Peace.
They have put out about 7 albums in 7 years. These ladies are freaking machines and pound for pound the best rock band on the planet right now
I think you were generous by awarding that old video so much wine.
I strongly recommend watching some of their official live videos filmed at their Feb.
The bass player just turned 30 today
wow. over 5k views in 2 days.

She is never going to replace Kanami as lead, but she definitely allows the band to have a much fuller sound these days.
great info - loved reading it !
This is their first official music video back in 2014 that started it all.
Agreed! If Miku were in my band, I'd let her do the talking too. She's very charismatic and good at that sort of thing.

I liked reading your post - some great comments there....👍😊
yes they exist now they have over 100 songs one better than the other, and for many people, they are the best rock band of today in the world.
I think that is enough for a Japanese all-female band.
I saw them three times in Europe in a single week, it was unforgettable.
A real storm of great and emotional music.
I suggest you watch other band maid videos on youtube maybe you will be surprised again.
Jimmy Page from Led Zeppelin had his picture taken with the drummer of band-maid after watching a live show of theirs.
You keep going Cash. You have a lot of songs to react to and I look forward to seeing them.
Konnichiwa! BAND-MAID support comment coming through. Sayonara!
The bassist's playing reminds me of Geddy Lee.
High praise, but she's definitely worthy of it.
This song is nothing compared to what she plays these day. If you watch the Manners/Black Hole video she is playing the bass almost like a second lead guitar.
She does !
MISA!MISA!MISA cheers 🥃🥃🥃🥃🥃🥃🥃
Thrill got Band-Maid on the map, but OMG, have they evolved since 2014. Like a good wine, their music has a rich and complex bouquet of hard rock (After Life, Domination, etc.), ballads (Daydreaming, Endless Story, Anemone, etc.), Groove (Manners), slow burns (About Us, At the Drop of a Hat), and many other accents. But one thing that ties it all together is the consistently high quality of the songwriting. As one wine lover to another I urge you to continue listening to this band -- you will not be disappointed!
Best Hard Rock band out there. I think you woudl like to listen to them live. That is the environment in which they really make a difference.
BAND MAID is a hard rock band, but it's a very diverse band. Listen to different types of songs.
1 Thrill : The first music video that saved them from dissolution. Classic rock 2014
2 Bubble : A tribute to the movie Bohemian Rhapsody, funky rock
3 Different
: First anime opening song, new sense of high-speed rock. Anime is Log Horizon 3rd season.
4 Daydreaming : Beautiful power ballad. Kobato's backing vocals and Kanami's guitar solo are wonderful.
5 Dice : Rhythmic hard rock singing women's independence
6 about us : A gift for fans who cannot meet in a pandemic.
Medium speed Hard Rock 2016
10 Secret My Lips and Secret Maiko Lips : Funky Hard Rock.
Thus, Miku says:
Even if the dream ends
No one comes to help
I know…
And that's how the movie ends: evil people continue to do their evil things, and the girl in the secure hospital can't separate reality from her dreams:
It just doesn’t end
Set me free
Get down
The last verse is for me sort of the cry from Miku herself to the main character in the movie:
It’s sink or swim
Shut up!
Best band on the planet 🤘🎎
Yaaaaaaaay !
They are one of the best hard rock bands around. This is just the beginning as they have progressed 10-fold since this song. Any song is a can’t miss, but you need to watch them live.
Welcome to Band-Maid!
My first exposure to Band Maid. Powerful stuff. I'll have to listen to more.
Interesting.......
That was their first big hit, now with over 100 songs they have a lot of variety that will blow your wine limit to bits!
they have released like an album a year. They are amazing and still making music
Po!
P.S. Also check out 'Babymetal', 'Lovebites', 'Nemophila' and sooo many more!!
awesome band maid
Keeping my "precious" eyes on them since 2016 till now...and hell yeah Band-Maid.. nothing goes wrong...
Alright, let's break out the whole case!!! 🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺 If you like Vixen, Precious Metal, or Lita Ford, you'll love these gals from the Land Of The Rising Sun! 🌞 🌞 🌞 🌞 🌞
😀🤣
A lot of great female musicians out there and a lot of them rock hard. These girls are legit.
They are doing very well.
A big toast to the finest rock band to come along in a very long time.
Welcome to the best band in the world right now
BTW - most their vids have CC/subtitles available
Real Existence Alone, Daydreaming, Bubble, Endless Story and Manners. Check out those music videos by them. Then live try Domination, Play, Freedom and Choose Me. You will not be disappointed !
Great reaction Cash
So you're Endevor cousin? You must tell her to react to BAND-MAID, these ladies need more exposure and your cousin is certainly going to like them as well. BAND-MAID are still playing and they released 6 albums since this music video.
Thank you
Haha, I won't blame you, but you couldn't be more wrong at the end.
This was their first video from 2014, but they're still around and better than ever. Some even say maybe the best hardrock band of today.
Writing and, more important, playing all of their own songs for years now 😉
This is the very beginning of Band Maid Currently the BEST HARD ROCK BAND in the WORLD
Hell yeah they play their own instruments check out their live stuff they are all very talented
They are a 100 hit wonder... do more please.
Band Maid just get better the more you see of them 😜
Welcome to Band-Maid Wine , Yes they are still together today , this was there first MV from 2014 , here's some info on the Band , founded in 2013 by Miku Kobato (aka) Small pigeon , has Red Rose in hair , she worked at a Japanese maid café , got the idea of a rock band in maid outfits and playing hard rock (the Gap), she plays Rhythm guitar , 2nd vocals n writes lyrics , Kanami Tono Lead guitar / Shredder , writes n arranges music , Akane Hirose (aka) Gorilla on Drums , MISA !!! These young women are the real thing. Their talent and musical ability is off the scale and their latest music is far more complex than this the earliest offering. Listen to their latest music and reach for the magnum.
great - next listen to DICE a nonstop rocker, then Daydreaming MV a power ballad. Glad your here. 😀
Well, there are some dudes who fake it 😉 Relying mainly on their sexy looks 😂
This is Band Maid in it's infancy, since this video was produced they have become probably the best working band on the planet today, and definitely the greatest live hard rock act hands down, I would encourage you to follow up on them as imo there's no other band going that can compare.
When this video first came out a lot of people didn’t believe the girls were playing the instruments so they released videos of their practices sessions as proof
Nice job... Band Maid is very diverse . Not a bad song by them . Still very very current .
Yes, Saiki is a beautiful girl, they all are! And immensely talented.
Robert Palmer, nice analogy.
Band Maid is the greatest rock band in the world.
In the words of Old Mr B
Tick Tock Let's Rock!
Their live songs 2021 Thrill, No God, Warning, After Live, Manners and its time to look for all female Japanese Metal/Rock Band
LOVEBITES - songs live 2021 Set The World On Fire, Dont Bite The Dust, Spellbound, Winds Of Transylvania
NEMOPHILA - songs 2021 Revive, Blooming, Dissension, Raitei(Thunder)
HANABIE - song We Love Sweets, LCG
TRIDENT-JAPAN - songs Voltage, No Regret
I think there's a lot more women making music now than there was 40 years ago...... we're heading in the right direction so far, imo 👍😊
For critical listeners of hard rock, Band-Maid is at the top these days.
I think the basses Misa whose B day is today ,would match your glass of wine with her bottle of Jim beam.
This song has English subtitles!
Their still making music check out manners that's off the 2021 album they have 5 albums I think
More wine More Band-Maid

Can't say enough about these ladies!
Band Maid, BabyMetal, The Warning,..some pretty good stuff. Love the song Martirio by The Warning.
You need more wine for these girls
that was awsome
oh honayyyyyy !!!! you better chug that wine. band-maid ROCKS !!!!! if they have done well ??? now gurl. they are dominating the world. when they play the us, they sellout every show. there music gets more stronger and exciting. fill that glass and shake that a$$ . band-maid is life. welcome to the pigeon party.
"These girls are all playing these instruments. Right?"
Hahaha.
バンドメイドは 、、女性を守ってるんだよな~~ 頑張れ バンドメイド!!
