Being an ol' timer and from Toronto I had the chance to see Razor live at least ten times. They were as good on stage as they sound on record. I always came out of their gigs sweaty and bruised from the pit action. Great band.
One of the most underrated thrash metal albums of all time. The whole album is insanely catchy, yet still rips your head off. The band changed over time turning into more of a straight forward hardcore thrash band. Check out 1988's Violent Restitution ... the bridge album between their catchy stuff and their more straight forward thrash. Another one of those underrated thrash classics.
I never thought of Razor as old school, but I guess time has passed. I saw Razor live a few times, including opening for Slayer and Venom in 1985. Razor are great on album and live.
The single most underrated Thrash band in all of existence, and that's coming from a hardcore Overkill fan. Possibly *THE* best North American (Canadian) Thrash band of all time. Next song to listen to is Enforcer.
Custom Fucking Killing! \m/ is my fave Razor album. Probably a surprise pick to most but I love the jammy Nature of it. Honestly can’t go wrong with any of the Sheepdog albums and the early nineties stuff is great too. Haven’t heard Decibles from 1997. The year it came out alone scares me to check it out. If anyone digs that album let us know. Is it worth checking out?
Nice! Some classic Canadian thrash! If you want some other great thrash from Canada then check out Sacrifice, Slaughter, Infernal Majesty, D.B.C. Exciter or maybe some early Voivod stuff
Thanks so much Shane, you just made my day!! I have a feeling you might be listening to the full album when you’re in your truck! Lol They were from Guelph, Ontario, Canada, about an hour from Toronto, and the singers nicknamed was Sheepdog lol Thanks again Shane you da man, love your channel! 🙏🤘💥
Thanks for response, i would humbly request your reaction to anpthet epic song by Razor(take this torch) or my favorite thrash metal band from U S, Sadus and their song certain death from chemical exposure album.. thanks in advance 😊
Chuck was up in Toronto for a bit playing with a band called Slaughter, so possibly there was some meeting up between Chuck and Sheepdog. But who influenced whom?
Stacey was actually influenced by David Lee Roth. He was not a big fan of heavy thrash but brought his input into Razor with Custom Killing. That's why it's so different from Razors other albums. It's also why Razor doesn't like or ever play any tracks from it live. It was not a friendly breakup.
@@jamiemcphail1432 it’s too bad because he had a great voice for what Razor did. But now that you mentioned DLR, I can hear a slight resemblance in those high but slightly rough tones. Just with Dave, it was “WAOHH!” and not “Hyaaaaaaaaaahhh!”
Dave Carlo is one of the best Thrash Metal Guitar Players, Worldwide! He has so many amazing Riffings on Razor Albums and they totally once in style! To sad that Carlo break with McLaren or vise versa, it is really really sad, while Sheepdog was a brilliant Shouter and Unique like D.Carlo too. This break transform Razor to a new Band…with Bob Reid, he is not bad but different.
Late to the party on this one, but I fucking love 80s Razor. Custom Killing was a crap album, but everything until Violent Restitution other than that was killer!! Evil Invaders is a frequent CD played in the car, and I turn that shit up MAX!!
You should check bob reids other band bobnoxious ,bob was razors 2nd singer and is still with them today im actually buddys with bob ges a really good dude Ontario CANADA he wasnt the lead singer on this album tho but he was on all of their other albums anyhow razor is a canadian thrash metal band out of ontario canada...they have a bunch of abums out...just not on spotify...best place to find more on razor is youtube...they are still around today they tour europe alot...
I discovered these guys when I was 17-18 because thrash was what I was into when I was in highschool. Still like thrash but I don’t really listening to it honesty lol
Sheepdog McLaren vocal style was before chuck shculinders, by a few years. Both amazing bands
see this is the kinda stuff I love in the comments, now I get to learn more about Sheepdog McLaren thanks Stephen!!
Dani from Cradle of Filth should pay Sheepdog royalties! :P

Liked his vocal style , sounded like he was holding back so he could do that shriek more.
The scream he does in the intro of "The Marshall Arts" is the most extreme vocal scream in the history of metal, bar none. Check it out!
Damn! That was crazy. He wins.
That fucking scream he does at the end of Cut Throat is what got me hooked on the band.

Love Razor! Saw them with Sacrifice in 1991.
The music video for Evil Invaders was filmed at Larry's Hideaway in Toronto
One of the bands that have a vocalist that sounds like no one else

Excellent choice! Was just listening to this earlier tonight.

If you are going to do some Whiplash, I heavily suggest their song Walk the Plank. it's just deadly!
