I had a guitar teacher that really opened my eyes to music.. I was a total rock guy, then he introduced me to Pantera and Slayer.. But the REAL eye opener was Carcass, this album has everything.. Like I was into Simon & Garfunkle then AC/DC.. So this was a big step up, but I'd argue it changed how I viewed Beauty in music.

hi man, I watched your reaction to "the flesh and the power it holds" by Death, the album that song is off is called "the sound of perseverance", it's a masterpiece, I would recommend any of the songs off it, but especially spirit crusher or scavenger of human sorrow, their other albums are worth a look too, "symbolic" is another masterpiece, any song off that is well worth the listen, but especially empty words and the title song, symbolic. I agree with you, that starting with Heartwork is the best album to start with, I started with Reek in 1988 (bought it a week after it came out) and was blown away by the album, and as for Symphonies, Christ that album was something so new that I couldn't quite believe that people were listening to Slayer and thinking that they were "brutal". For me it was Necroticism that sealed them as being far more than what they were before that album, and Heartwork was just a lovely little nail through my cranium to reinforce that seal, the less said about Swansong the better.

Yes it is the album you should start. Also check out At The Gates, if you like Carcass. 💎

I think the song is categorized as grindcore as well because Carcass started out as a Goregrind/Grindcore band and slowly morphed to Melodic Death Metal
