Roach crawls out during interview with owner who denies insect problem

- Rodriguez Groceries on 449 Ratliff Road in San Benito scored 34 demerits on a health inspection report.
Owner Tony Rodriguez called it the worst in the store's history since opening in 1958.
An inspector found a cross contamination of foods including bacon, chicken and corn dogs.
Other violations included dirty equipment, rodent droppings and roaches.
Tony told the Food Patrol that he never saw evidence of insect contamination.
"I don't think he lied," Tony said about the inspector. "I just think he thought we had the problem."
Tony invited the Food Patrol to check out his kitchen which he called "clean."
A roach crawled out from behind kitchen equipment and up the wall just seconds into the tour.
"There's a roach right there," Action 4's Ryan Wolf said while pointing to it.
Tony took his hand and killed the roach which then fell into the sink.
The tour ended shortly after with Tony asking the Food Patrol to leave.
An inspector shut the kitchen portion of the store down for 8 days until a re-inspection cleared most of the violations.

Roaches are photosensitive, which means you might not see them during the day and that's why he was confident that no Roaches would be found; in case of an infestation however, when you have roaches by the thousands, they won't care as much because they are scrambling to find food.
That's the trick people like that use, they tell u to check all u want so u can think they're telling the true since they're not hiding anything and most people tend to belive them, however there are some that trust but check, but peoe like that won't chance even if u show them proof, they going to call u fake news or attack u to a personal level

I was born in brownsville, i never got used to the roaches. but they are everywhere! EVERYWHERE!!!! It's south texas, its hot, its humid, and water roaches LOVE water.
Roaches are hard to get rid of in Florida. I have a family member who lives in an apartment that's full of roaches and brings them over in her luggage when she visits us. They don't last that long at our home because we keep our home very clean, always taking out the trash, vacuuming and mopping our floors every day, and wiping down everything in our house every weekend. We leave traps and and kill them when we see any of them, with fly swatters not our hands (Gross), but with the lack of garbage and crumbs they have nothing to live off of and die out about a week after the family member leaves. But roaches are every where in Florida. Northern people are lucky. I used to live up north and we NEVER had roaches. It's only because Florida is so humid and hot and roaches love that. Plus it rains almost every day in Florida. (Exaggeration but it rains A LOT. Days on end sometimes.) But up North you do get stink bugs a lot. But I would take that over a disease riddance roach.
:p I moved up north about 7 months ago, and although the snow is a pain in the butt, NO BUGS! lol I know some places like new york have them. But it doesn't surprise me... many buildings up here are older. But I have yet to see one roach =) LOVE IT! That sucks about your friend though, thats sick! I dont want any roaches in my luggage!

Back in 1987 I was looking for a baking job in Lansing Michigan where I lived at the time. I got an interview at one place, and when they asked if I had anymore questions I requested to see the area I would be working. It was nasty. I've worked all over and I can tell messes that are just from that day, and crusty gunk from lack of maintenance.

The whole mice droppings under the stove... I clean homes for a living and have cleaned probably upwards of 10k or more over my lifetime. That is very common to find and doesn't always mean infestation. If you see a mouse or droppings, put a trap out. But not everyone is going to pull a whole oven out to clean under it. No telling how long it's even been there.

There's a level of of unprofessionalism in at least one co-reporter that makes it delightfully comedic and even the pros have a level of freedom where they make the story great. One guy exposed a governor that changed good food from meals on wheels with prison food...he talked to seniors and even pushed one gent to Arby's and bought him food. After that the governor was properly shamed in to doing the right thing. Course I'm sitting here thinking prison food should be better.

I was sitting in the parking lot of my local Chinese eatery.. saw the chef or kitchen worker come out for a cigarette break. He had a spatula in his hand and a cigarette in the other. After smoking, he blew his nose in his apron, then wiped the spatula with the snotty apron and went back inside. I couldn't believe it.q it was one of those moments where you just stare. you don't make any moves because you don't want the person to see you. u can't even reach for ur phone.. because u can missed a moment of this nasty shit. I drove off and immediately called everyone in my damn phone and told them what I saw, spread the word, don't eat there.
