How The World's First Written Languages Spread

  • The introduction of writing systems changed the world. It allowed humans to physically express thoughts and language, as well as record events for future generations to study. Although different writing systems developed independently in different areas of the world, many are tied together by common roots.
John Haywood of Princeton University chronicles the spread of writing systems in "The New Atlas of World History: Global Events at a Glance."

Writing was independently invented as few as four times (Middle East, China, Mesoamerica, Easter Island), and as many as six (Mesopotamia, Egypt, Indus Valley, China, Mesoamerica, Easter Island), but the majority of the world's present writing systems (Latin alphabet, Cyrillic, Perso-Arabic, all Indian and Southeast Asian writing systems, Amharic, Greek, Georgian, Armenian, Mongol, Manchu, Cherokee, Inuit, etc) were derived from the Mesopotamian invention or inspired by its descendants. The only living writing systems that are independently derived are Chinese and its living offshoots in Korea and Japan.

Turkic comes from latin? It was not a true statement. It is true that it comes from the aramic, like all the others, but not from latin. There were writing systems like looking similar to the turkic earlier too.
Turkic comes from Aramic, the same with the Hungarian alphabet. Steppean folks could write and read.
      hu.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rov%C3%A1s%C3%ADr%C3%A1s_(egy%C3%A9rtelm%C5%B1s%C3%ADt%C5%91_lap)

Disliked this video. Here we’re africans writing systems:
    1. Ancient Kemite Hieroglyphs (3200 BCE to 400 CE): This is one of the oldest known writing systems in Africa, consisting of a complex set of pictorial symbols.
    2. Meroitic Script (300 BCE to 400 CE): Used in the Kingdom of Kush (present-day Sudan), this script evolved from Egyptian hieroglyphs but eventually developed into its own distinct system.
    3. Ge'ez Script (2nd millennium BCE to present): Originating in the region of modern-day Ethiopia and Eritrea, the Ge'ez script is still used today in liturgical texts of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church.
    4. Tifinagh (3rd century BCE to present): This script was historically used by various Berber-speaking populations across North Africa, particularly in regions such as the Atlas Mountains. It is still used by the Tuareg people.
    5. Nsibidi (present in Nigeria from at least the 16th century): Nsibidi is a system of symbols used by various ethnic groups in southeastern Nigeria, particularly the Ekpe secret society of the Cross River region.
    6. Adinkra Symbols (18th century to present): While not a traditional writing system in the strictest sense, Adinkra symbols are a set of ideographic symbols used by the Akan people of Ghana and Cote d'Ivoire to convey philosophical and cultural concepts..

Phoenician is not exactly an alphabet since it does not contain phonients (a, e, i, o, u, y) and contains only symphons (b, c, d, f, g, etc) which makes it a syllable characters system (eg: America would be written as "MPK" in Phoenician). Alphabet is the combination of phonients and symphons (a, b, c, d, e, etc) and the first ones to utilize it were the Greeks who invented and added characters for the phonients and mixed it with the Phoenician symphons characters creating the first Alphabet (Alpha in Greek is for "α" and beta is for "β", the first two letters of their language, hence alpha+bet-->alphabet). Latin is the second one, and Cyrillic is the third and last one of the three main European alphabets that influenced the rest of the European tribes' languages, however since Cyrillic is much younger than Greek and Latin, only Slavs and people from former USSR countries use it.

The Vinca script was a script, not an alphabet. The script has been dated back to 4000BCE, Not neolithic era

Albanian is the mother of all languages, close to the symbols! It is older than 5000 years.

Not specifically by name.....even tought the first mention of Arabs is in 9BC.
Also you have to bear in mind that language changed during couple millenia, so it can start with one word and end up with something completely different. So chasing the word is totally absurd.
Do you think that Sumerian just ceased to exist all of sudden like dinosaurs ?!?!
      No...
You must look at folklore !
The people today that live in the region that are descendants of Sumerians not only genetically but also culturally.
