These BTS videos are priceless. And the couple seemed like some lovely people to work with. Like they were having a really good time with each other and also with you. To me, those positive vibes during a shoot are what makes wedding and couple photography soooo amazing. Even though it’s work, it can be super fulfilling.
I think you're the best TH-camr when it comes to being a wedding photographer channel. Your content is variety and these BTS/POV videos you put out are so amazing. What a lot of TH-camrs don't realize is that a lot of people don't learn the same. A lot of us are visual learners and to see the action is how a lot of us learn. So many portrait/wedding photographer channels where it's gear heavy content, or mainly talking heads content (sitting at their desk), or just there to sell their courses and presets. When people say in the comment section "you deserve more subs", YOU really do deserve more. You are a blessing John. Don't ever change.
Your BTS videos are amazing! Just watching you at work would be great but the voiceover in which you explain all the whys brings them to another level! Thanks. And I really loved the veil shots, guess I need to do them more in my work.
Thank you for giving us a behind-the-scenes look this beautiful couple. The way you direct your couples is so chill and professional. Your SENE suits look nice and the short hair is also a nice professional look. Wishing you continued success!
For me, veil shots really induce anxiety. Some days it's a struggle and others I nail it first go. Having and assistant is a real bonus. Nice video John, thanks heaps. I hope the year picks up for you with the weddings. 👍
You have such a calm and comforting demeanor in your shoots and the images you make are just stunning! Thank you for sharing these - they are invaluable!
Amazing video as always. Two questions: 1 - why not using the xf18 /1.4 WR on the xt5? Should be wide enough, less distortion than the 16mm, resolving the 40mp of the xt5 and eventually, replacing a xf23mm if is the case. 2 - why don’t you use external flash in this occasions? Wouldn’t that increase/simplify the final result? It’s your work flow and I admire it but just curious. Thank you for providing so much teaching to us.
This is absolutely beautiful, such natural looking images. Question if I may; you went back after the wedding to shoot these, or is this more of a staged shoot setup? The last wedding I shot, the speeches ran for TWO HOURS (totally unplanned) so we lost all our portrait time. Consequently, we are meeting up at the venue when they get back from honeymoon and this actually feels like a really good idea.
This couple was going to elope but they still wanted nice photos. So this is basically a portrait session for their wedding since they're going to have a small wedding. Basically kind of like an engagement session.
@@jbivphotography Awesome, thank you so much for the info. Sounds like the prefect situation - no guests huffin' and puffin' while you work your magic.
LOVE this BTS so much and know how you react with the couple!!!!I wanna asking for advises from John and other Fuji-experts. I am wondering to start my journey to Event/Wedding Photography with my Fujifilm lens. I currently owned an XT-3 and all lens I have are: XF18-55mm f2.8-4, xf16-55mm f2.8, and xf35mmf1.4...I wondering what lens or fuji-camera body should I buy to perform Event/Wedding Photography well, or should I sell all my zoom lens to get these gear, or all i've got is good enough to, THX John!!!!
Great content! Thanks John! It is sad to hear that 16mm can't resolve new sensors. Almost makes it obsolete. But it is such a great lens. And pictures you got also look fantastic.
Why worry about shooting in full frame mode? I shoot a mix of GFX and Nikon at weddings and always use the full medium format sensor. Not one of my clients has noticed and in my option it gives them more of a variety. The 4:3 aspect ratio is amazing!
The 16mm f1.4 was more like a 17mm if you compare it the 16mm f2.8 or 16mm on the 16-55 f2.8, I sold it and went with the 18mm f1.4 which has less distortion and Viltrox 27mm f1.2 for events. along with the Viltrox 13mm f1.4 and 75mm f1.2 there's not a lot you can't cover, and they all work with the 40mg sensor.
Beautiful work as always John! The photos coming out of the GFX are stunning! How are you managing the files sizes when using a high megapixel camera from a storage perspective?
Honestly the files really aren't that much of an issue. For this session since I was shooting with the X-T5 as well I put the GFX in 35mm mode which makes the files smaller + shooting in compressed RAW the files are about 37mb a piece which isn't so bad.
I enjoy your videos. Thank you for the effort you put into it. Please be so kind to do a little series on exposing and editing images of clients with a darker complexion. Unless it is your target market, many photographers are not so frequently exposed to it, making it very complex. What is the right tone or brightness or contrast ? Then you get mixed couples also sometimes making it even more complex. Thx John
I’m actually going to be teaching a photo walk on this exact subject. A lot of photographers struggle with it and I would love to teach them to get better results.
@@jbivphotographyThat’s amazing! I live in Germany where there’s a lot less dark skinned people, but I’d still be ready to serve them as good as I can.
A little off topic but have you ever done a website critique video for Squarespace users in particular? If not, is it something you may do in the future?

I will say Mr John Branch taught me..☺️
I appreciate that! I hope there's lots to learn. ❤️
Thank you! You are an amazing teacher.
You are so welcome! I'm glad this is all helpful.

It’s only the 40mp sensor. But any of the other sensors that are the normal 26mp (X-H2s, X-T4, etc) Those cameras are fine.

True. I’m just being weird about having different aspect ratios but most people probably don’t even care
L L L L L LOVE IT! 🎉
Beautiful shots! I love how you are able to achieve these shots with only natural light!
Thanks a bunch!

Interesting. For now I'm going to be moving back to the 16 f2.8.

@@jbivphotography Oh ok so it's on part with the regular size file then. Thanks.
Love the way you utilise that 16mm 🔥 I like the 20mm but always yearn for a 14mm.
Thanks a bunch. Wider angles are always fun to work with!
Don’t know why it is so easy to watch your teaching. But the details on your snickers though is on 🔥. I love fashion too men 😂
That's awesome to hear. I hope everything is helpful! And thanks about the shoes. I like lookin fresh as much as possible. 😂

I've done it before on my monthly live streams. It's a good time!
@@jbivphotography nice! I will try to catch the next one. :-)
Did you use any flash in the first set of photos?
Nope. No flash at all in this session.
What is dual sling your using with the bag?
Me too I would like to know ☺️
John which holster are you using?
That's the Holdfast Gear Money Maker.
Does the 18mm works with the 40 megapixels?
It does. The 18 and the 16 f2.8 both work with the 40mp
do some closeup photos bro ...

I use the 18mm f1.4 on my XT5 and the 55 on my GFX 50SII for wedding...nothing more...:-)
