    I've seen many comments saying that they like the tifa theme because it gives them a sense of coming home and belonging. I gotta say I prefer the remake version than the original one. But this sound is so apt because it is tifa that keeps cloud rooted to the ground, to himself, and to his ultimate goal and destiny.

    • @TheMemeXp1

      I remember playing FFVII for the first time and coming to Tifa's bar after the mission, it's exactly like you said..you feel a sense of belonging like coming back home is pretty cozy and nostalgic I love it.

      @@TheMemeXp1 there's a real connection made between cloud/you as the player and tifa on a subconscious level, it's really pretty great. I won't go into it too much but it's rooted in Kabalah.

    • @justinward3218

      I was so torn between Aerith and Tifa. Aerith is beautiful, and her fall is tragic, but Tifa is so solid and is always there for you. Like Aerith is a great sister or girlfriend, but Tifa would be a great wife.

    • @yoyoyoyo-qv5hu
      @yoyoyoyo-qv5hu ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@justinward3218 sure but it's more about what she represents. To Cloud, funnily enough, she is neither his girlfriend, sister, best friend etc she's actually his inner spiritual guide. You see examples of this in the remake where she lets him go crazy on some enemies but tempers his spirit on others. She is the tifereth on the tree of life which guides a person actions in order to create a meaningful life. That's why when cloud looks at her during the bar scene and calls her 'beautiful' isn't just because she is, but it's one of the main words to describe the tifereth. Other words include the sun and home.
      Nothing happens in the og until cloud summons tifa to the well and declares he's joining soldier. Here he is beginning to create a goal which is key in the kabbalah. Tifa then makes him promise to rescue her if she's ever in trouble which in actual fact serves to keep him on track with his goals and eventually his ultimate destiny. The reason being so he can enter the 7th heaven, (tifas bar) or the final heaven (tifas limit break).
      How this fits into the wider story is the acknowledgement and realisation from cloud as the planet is being destroyed is that it's more important to find that thing in life most meaningful to you and fight for it. Thereby coming to a greater acceptance of meteor and the entailing destruction.

    Videos like this really make me lament the fact that aerith so often gets the spotlight for her role as the heroine of FF7s external plot. I know Tifas role as the heroine of the internal plot is less flashy, but its so warm, and so important that it just deserves to be admired more

    • @kaage8780
      @kaage8780 2 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      Aerith gets the spotlight because she dies. Imo, being last living something, having metapowers etc in a fantasy world is more of a cliche.
      ToTP made me appreciate Tifa even more than I already did. Tifa just gets overlooked because she's "just a normal human being". She's not royal, magician etc. She's just a normal woman who's been through hell and more and worked her ass off and more to get back on her feet and stay there. She has her flaws, but she still incredible as a character and easily one of the strongest in the whole group.
      She literally saves another human being AND ALSO the world with the crew. And Cloud isn't just someone. He is the main face of VII. He is more important than Aerith and saving him is a BIG deal. Also, being the love interest of a main character in FF is a BIG deal.
      To me, Tifa's role as a heroine is million times more fascinating and flashy compared to Aerith's. The Lifestream scene is going to be a killer. It's also Kitase's, Nojima's and Nomura's favourite scene in the whole game.

      @@kaage8780 I feel like her dying, makes people feel for her more and therefore, since after she dies her song plays, people remember her and cheerish her that way.
      Personally, I always liked Tifa's theme better because it sounds more melodic and it makes me so emotional, it makes me feel as if she's taking care of me and trying to comfort me.
      Obviously, it also depends on how much you love the character and on your understanding of said character.
      If you like Tifa's theme more, it means that you probably like her character more and can relate to her better. Not always though...
      Aerith's theme has its perks too, the only thing that doesn't make me love it as much, is that in some points, it sounds basically like a jingle. It represents her childlike nature and it should make us sad, because her death stripped that away from her, but it doesn't make me as emotional as Tifa's theme, because I can actually feel Tifa's soul and wishes into it, I can feel her wishing for Cloud to come back, I can feel her love and care, I can feel her strength and resilience... there are so many things that I can feel through her theme, but it's not the same with Aerith's.
      It might be because I never liked some of Aerith's manners in the OG, or maybe because her death was sudden and since I didn't fall for her as hard as those who did, maybe it just didn't sink in.
      It's really a matter of either perspective, or of what is the message those themes wants to convey and which one reaches you the most.

      @@kaage8780 I'd even argue that Tifa is the most important character in FF7 -- after all, without her existence we wouldn't even have the plot's premise. It's for her admiration that Cloud wanted to join SOLDIER in the first place, hence the things got into motions as we've come to know them. Ever since I first played FF7 back then (was about 11 or 12yo), she's held very a special place in my heart because she's both a very nurtuting and brave character as well as a badass fighter (I don't think I ever not had her in my team except for the story parts where she was absent).

    • @D0MiN0ChAn
      @D0MiN0ChAn 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@laurajanco2i Funny you mention that! Incidentally, I also didn't really care that deeply about Aerith in the OG because I feel like we didn't get to know her as much, but somehow the game wanted us to care about her abrupt death and make it seem like such a heartbreaking event? Maybe the dialogues didn't do such a great job of not making her seem a bit "too desperate" for Cloud's attention, idk 🤷 If it were Barrett or Tifa who died, I would have been much more upset.

    • @laurajanco2i
      @laurajanco2i 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@D0MiN0ChAn Someone who gets how really fundemental she is in the plot.
      As you said she's the reason why Cloud gets into Soldier and the responsible for all FF7's major plot points.
      If you think about it she's the only reason why Cloud meets Aerith in the first place, because if she didn't put him to the job and he never went to the mission at the reactor 5, he would have never dropped into Aerith's church.
      She's the breaking point for Cloud when he meets her at the station and he literally builds that persona because he always wanted to be a hero for her, but he thought he failed.
      She's also the reason why you have Barret and Marlene, since she saved them and gave them shelter, after she found them homeless. And that's the reason why they live in the hideout at Seventh Heaven that she founded with her own money and efforts.
      Tifa is basically the reason why you are introduced to Avalanche and one of the main reasons why Cloud kills Sephiroth and wants revenge (the other reasons are his mother and the village).
      She is the reason why Cloud gets back to his real self and she's literally the one who makes it possible for Cloud and the party to save the Planet, since Holy failed because Sephiroth countered it and only Cloud could defeat him (again because Tifa freed him from Jenova's control).
      Tifa is just an God tier charater and some people say that she's popular just becaus she's sexy and kicks ass...
      She is literally, with Cloud, the most important character in the game.

    Nobuo Uematsu really knows how to set the tone through music. I'm sad to hear he may not be composing much more due to health reasons. While the other two composers for FFVII remake did a great job, I feel like some of the songs are overly complex and set a different tone for the game. Ghoul is great, Midnight Rendezvous is perfect for the scene where you hear it, Hollow Skies was the only track Nobuo wrote for the remake and it was arguably one of the best songs for the game. I just hope we get more beautifully simplistic tracks like midnight rendezvous moving forward.
    Setting the mood is more important than having a grandiose orchestrated music for every song.

    The word that best sums up how I feel about Tifa's Theme is nostalgia. I know people throw that around a lot, but when I played FFVII for the first time at age 13, as soon as I heard those chords and the first notes of the melody it stirred something inside me. Even to this day when I hear any rendition of her theme I am struck by a strong sense of going back to simpler times. I love Tifa sooo much. She's the fuzzy, cuddly type that provides whatever you miss or lack cause shes super invested in you.
    She's literally telling straight up lies to keep you on your path and protect your vulnerable emotions. She tells everyone she's doing fine when, in truth, she feels terrible, to keep everyones spirits high.
    Tifa is a true, dedicated wife that keeps her family healthy and safe with ALL necessary steps.
    To me, she is an angel in the flesh that deserves constant praise and admiration so she knows how useful she actually is.
    Tifa is secretly your bodyguard and protector and she won't move an inch if you're in a pinch and, without hesitation, attacks and defies even the strongest foes, even if there is no chance to win.
    Tifa is literally that one wife, ready to give her own life for yours.
    She is a great help to weaker men that have issues like Cloud, but will be even better with a person that's fully capable of protecting and providing for her. She really loves getting taken care off.
    "I will eliminate all your vulnerabilities."
    Is the sentence she'd love to hear the most.
    I cannot count all the times when i creamed myself so hard to her beautiful body and those legendary boobs. 😍

    An incredibly intelligent analysis, but then to deny the inherent feminine quality of the flute and oboe is baffling. You are smarter than that. Do not let modern gender politics influence your intellect. Thousands of years of truth lies within you, in your neural links and your DNA. Musical theory is so fascinating because it combines the beauty of music with the wisdoms of philosophy, providing us a window into how mere sounds can push our emotions and pull our heartstrings as they do. To deny a wisdom like the inherent feminine quality of the flute and the masculine quality of the tuba is to defy an essential component of the ancient wisdoms behind the melodies.
    You are a smart guy, and this was a great analysis which I learned from and will use to further my understanding of music theory; it is something I wish I pursued more in my youth. But I encourage you to ground your understanding of the human condition before making statements that only ring in concordance with baseless philosophies only popularized in the past decade as opposed to grounded wisdoms which have stood with firm rootage for thousands of years.

      Good catch! As far as the intro itself, I definitely hear the iv over pedal F in the arpeggio, but I suppose it would depend if you consider the sustained G of the duet as part of the harmony or not. Now that you've pointed it out to me though, once the melody starts I can hear it both ways - with and without the G. I agree that a iib5m7 over pedal F is a more interesting harmony, though they ultimately serve the same function!

      That music is the Main Theme of FF7, starting about 0:52 into the track.

      @TheGamingBardChannel That would be spectacular! Yuna is my personal favorite FF heroine and her theme captures her spirit so well!

    Tifa got overshadowed in FF7 by Aerith because of her death, her theme, her personality, everything was just one notch up on Tifa IMO. If Aerith hadn't been in the game, Tifa would've become a hugely popular character in gaming history. I mean, she already is, even being overshadowed by Aerith, but she would've been waaaay bigger without Aerith there. She was a great character with a lot going on, but she was a bit more grounded and real while Aerith was a bit more fantasy and "chosen one"ish.

    I mean, it's alright. I'm more of a Zerith person myself. But Terra's theme... that hits on a WHOLE other level.

    The reason the flute has a more feminine quality to it, and is viewed as such, has nothing to do with gender ideology, but in visual, audial and imagery concepts.
    A flute has a delicate sound, the instrument has a very delicate and soft appearance, and has a special touch to it for playing, it’s not rough or sharp, it’s ethereal in sound. All concepts we typically associate with femnininity. Being soft, delicate, and not harsh.
    Not until modern times has this ever been a controversial thing, and frankly I find just completely an asinine thing to have brought up.
