Don't care what you think of the guy, the least we can agree on is the fact that it is AMAZING how it landed with severely damaged control surfaces. Kudos to the engineers. Amazing.
...and a TH-cam suggestion pops up at the end covering the whole screen and blocking the view of the splashdown. I suggest you add 10 seconds of extra filler at the end to stop this happening. Otherwise, excellent.
All humanity will do once it explores space is take territoriality to the next level: from "Hey, this country has natural resources that we don't have in ours--let's bomb them!" to "Hey, this planet has natural resources that we don't have..." Realistically, you just about tolerate the people living in the same town or city as you. Those in distant towns and cities but still in the same country? Even less... People living in other countries? No thanks--well, unless they happen to share many cultural aspects of your country, in which case they should be kind of okay to interact with--and even then... (As the current rise in right-wing populism is reminding us of!) So, who knows what it's going to be like if ever there are humans living on Earth and others on Mars, and/or elsewhere...
@Planum. Yes, I'm so looking forward to that. Let's hope it's soon, and the catch goes well... I'm confident that if the catch goes well.. . I believe it will probably be the most impressive thing that has ever been achieved for space. Can't wait for it.
Perfection, i imagine the day when watching a Falcon 9 launch and landing everyday, a Starship/Superheavy launch, a Superheavy catch and a Starship belly flop and catch is something numb
@@Planum. Yeah, all we know is that it'll be in a few years from now on, i hope my beloved Falcon 9 NEVER retires, if the FH gets retired, yeah it would be sad, but, not as sad as if the Falcon 9 gets retired i hope they use the Starship/Superheavy and the Falcon 9 in a parallel opperation
The AMBIEANCE IS OUT OF THIS WORLD, OOPS. YES, YES, very cool. I can not help my self this looks so FING COOL as it clears the tower they have a shot of the rocket flying and you can look down from that angle as the rocket flies up twards you is incredible.
2:35 Are those shockwaves at 100s of meters above the olm a new thing due to the power of this rocket or is it the improved cameras (frame rate?) these days that make them more visible? The Falcon 9 produces pressure waves on liftoff but I don't recall seeing mid air shockwaves on any other vehicle.
A dope ass video!! Just one little suggestion, the balance between the volume of music and the announcements/voiceover can be adjusted a bit. It’s more fun to listen what they say, at points the music was drowning them. Listening the countdown would be great!
Alright thank you for your suggestion, I'll make it for IFT-5, but for now I can't change that without reuploading the whole video, sadly. Thank you still !
The only change I'd suggest is that you intercut the booster landing tracking/buoy video with the on-board video instead of showing them separately, otherwise its perfect.
Ngl, I think nostalgia is getting the better out of ya'll. I understand that interstellar was great, but the fast pace of 30 raptor engines going off doesn't go well with a slow pace of this song. Hans zimmer composed so many pieces that go with the fast pace of a Rocket ship, for example: Ignition (Man of Steel) or Arcade (Man of Steel)
The whole 1st part is done perfectly well. Fantastic timing all the way to the end of "No time for caution". After that, having the song starting again was a bummer. Unfortunately I have no good suggestion of how to keep the dramaturgy up, but SpaceX will deliver more good stuff, so there will be many chances to figure that out, if you like ;-)

I’ve heard the interstellar music so many times now that the first two things that pop into my mind is old crapy KSP music videos and some short made by a Ai science channel.
audience: spacex what are you doing. spacex: (splash) landing. starship: it's not possible. spacex: no it's necessary. ... starship: spacex, this is no time for caution!
@@charliemoore9165 I got it ! I also was really impressed, I think nobody expected the ship to do the landing flip and landing burn...Not even Elon Musk & SpaceX !
Question, why wouldn’t the grid fins be put in vertical position for ascent? Why are they fixed in horizontal. I’m not taking about flush with the rocket like the falcon 9 btw.
Excellent question. In my opinion, the actuators needed to raise them in a horizontal position for descent would add a significant amount of weight. Indeed, each grid fins weights 3t, so it would require very powerful actuators to move them to a horizontal position, given the position of the actuators relative to the grid fin. As we know all the actuators used for Superheavy and Starship are electric, so it would also use a lot of energy adding even more of them. What's more, the grid fins don't disturb the aerodynamic flow when they are perpendicular to the relative wind. That's why they only change the aerodynamic flow when rotating, which enables them to steer the rocket.
When a normal person watches this: wow, what a time to be alive! When a democrat watches this: How do i conflate the funding for this with starving children in Africa.
