Thank you for doing this video comparing the 3 phones together at the same time. Amazing how well the S23 and S22 do against the S24. I noticed that the S23 seems to do a better in many cases and this may be due to being more centered (portrait mode and other "up close" shoots). I also like the way you spend time on each mode so we can "study" the results while you are shooting the videos.

I have to agree the s23 ultra seems the best camera experience... no lack on the 22 or 24 but s23 Ultra is the best out of the 3.
Wow! The good news is that there is hardly any consistent difference, so you might be better off with S22U and save a ton of cash.

I think it is simply unacceptable to have such a bad highlights handling in the s24, the crazy thing is that in the ffc things are a lot better with the s24... I hope Samsung will fix this. Otherwise I will stick to my s23 ultra

I've been using the S24U for 5 Days. Coming from an S22 Ultra I can assure you that the S24 U is miles ahead of the S22U. Man that S22U battery wasn't good. Also, not having a curved screen anymore is just so nice to use with the S-PEN and screen protectors. I really like my S22U.. but the S24U is just so much better. And faster. And brighter.. Flatter and the AI is really nice too. Oh that anti-reflective display is awesome too. There are a lot of things to like here over the S22U

Hello, great work done, I noticed that with the S22 in general the sky is less burnt the clouds are still visible while on the other 2 they have almost all disappeared. I also find that digital zoom is often better at night than optical zoom.

Alexy, You did a good job. First thing I notice is 30x zoom is better with the S24 and S23 Ultras. The S22 is not as good, more like a water colour painting! The 100x zoom has the S23 first, S22 second, and the S24 a distant 3rd! During the video comparison, the S22 Ultra had more contrast in the clouds compared to the S23 and S24 Ultras. But the red is slightly pale with the S22, where as the s23 and S24 is a little more saturated. The S24 Ultra is good and can zoom with all camera lenses at 4K 60, but the others cannot without stopping then change lens. I am glad I have the S23 Ultra. It serves me well.
Thanks mate!! It's funny because to my eyes the 30X zoom is better on the S22 and S23 Ultra the same with the 100X zoom. I do prefer the overall video image quality on the S22 Ultra with daylight video. Sadly, the constant jittery when panning around kills it a little bit but the dynamic range and sharpeness is the best of the 3. Yes, finally Samsung added changing of lenses at 4K 60fps while recording which I'm very sure it can also bring to the S22 and S23 Ultra with an update but it won't. @@Soto-Tech2020 One thing the S24 Ultra can do is zoom from ultra wide, to the wide, 3x tele to the 5x lens while recording 4K 60 and not having to stop, then restart recording. The S23 and S22 Ultra cannot do this! Samsung should allow this. I wonder what the S25 Ultra would be like?

Great content man! You see how easy it is to get swept up in all the marketing and promises that the next phone is the MUST have phone. But there is no signifcant difference in the cameras at all. I still have my S21 Ultra and it still takes amazing pics. I had the S23 Ultra but returned it as it was just so big. But again all of these phones are great and we dont need to upgrade all the time!

@Soto-Tech2020 at low light 10x s24u does better, sometimes can do better in low light very noisy tho... s23u takes iphone way darkens image for less noise
Exactly! S23 Ultra is the best one. S22 Ultra is hanging on very well, and S24 Ultra is not bad, but in some moments, like in the 30x and 100x zoom pictures, the photo where the youtuber showed a plate of meat, fries and peas, the blur affected 25% of the plate food and the portrait mode didn't covered the background pretty well like the S23 Ultra and (especially in this particular case) the S22 Ultra, which it shows it need some work to do a better contour in the objects and in the background.
S24 ultra does not need to disable auto lens switching ...in s23 ultra and s22 ultra you need to disable auto lens switching....other wise it uses the main lens as 10x in low light conditions....which leads to unclear pictures
@@raghunath19876 the 3x lense isn't much better, tbh 1x is better digitally cropped than 3x native

Battery
For real the S22ultra's camera is so true to life in color representation and super optimised in 95% of these scenarios! Now i hate myself for letting it go and getting the 23 ultra. Thank God i just decided to skip the s24 ultra totally and didn't let the pre-order deals sway me. Samsung should update the s22 ultra with the AI features too. It's more than capable of handling it.
How is battery life on the s22 ultra, I am thinking of getting one
@adebayotimilehin2460 my brother....the battery is okay. I get between 5 to 7 hrs screen on time depending on what I'm doing on different days, and I use my phone massively more than most people. I have it on 60htz motion smoothingness and FHD resolution, though. Now I'm not sure which version you'll get where u are cos I see u are my brother from Nigeria cos there are 2 versions, and the snapdragon is what I had as I'm in the 🇺🇸.

Did the 6.1 update for the s23 ultra kept director view in the app camera, or they changed by dual app mode cause i don t wanna loose director view mode in the camera modes.

The S22 Ultra and S23 Ultra are very similar and look great but shockingly the S24 Ultra is not even close. In a blind test I'd bet people would assume the picture on the left would be that of the S24 Ultra because it lags way behind the other two by so much.

Very good comparison, it seems software is the main differentiator between most results. the major wins for s24 tend to go towards the optical 5x module with its brighter aperture. But I believe that one would not be missing much with either of these 3 models. I am currently torn between the s23u and s24u, coming from the original Note10 that kicked off this current "ultra" styling. Thanks for this!

My man! Thanks for taking the time to create and share this. Having a hard time to tell the difference overall. Sometimes one phone is better, other times not. S22 seems to have the more accurate daytime white balance and colours, but then does the worst in very low light photos. S23 does better in some situations. S24 is ok, but looks like it needs more optimisation to get the most out of it, by which time, I would hope the S25 Ultra would be out and would represent and actual upgrade! Anyone with any of these phones should be happy. Thanks again.

Excellent review ..i have the s22u and s23 u and i have compared too ...they are indistinguishable from each other and s24 ultra in most cases

You should have however included a 9x zoom test in all the test cases
24 ultra uses 5x lens to crop where as the other 2 use 3x to get a 9x digital zoom

Very surprising test results. I was expecting a huge step forward for the s24 ultra, but I was disappointed. It was clear that it has much improved stabilization in video, but I Didn't like the AI induced heavy rendering on the zoom photos. So I think I will save a lot and buy the s23ultra instead. It's not always the best on paper, that is actually the best. Thanks for a great real life test.

Fantastic comparison - thank you! Shocked at how poor the lowlight (especially video) performance is (currently) on the s24U. Can't see a reason to upgrade from the S22U at this point (especially given Samsung intends to charge for the A.I. functions post 2025. Until there's a major iterative improvement in the cameras (e.g. sensor size), it's a hold.

Great video! I was considering getting the S23U to replace my 5 year old Huawei since it was more in my budget, I was really tempted by the S24U but I really cannot justify the price difference

Okay, why did I watch this 2ce and Blvd the S22 ultra did best in the comparison and seem to have the best true to life color representation. I feel like I just lost a great phone giving my 22 ultra away for cheap only to get the 23 ultra. I'm not sure why samsung feels that phone doesn't deserve AI updates.

Very similar, but it kind of confirms what i always felt about S22U, the coloring is a little too saturated for my liking. The video does peove though that we are approaching a plateau in phone performance. Cool video!

It looks the best when it comes to highlights and colours to me.
Definitely, I had to watch and rewind and watch again, so to be sure, I'm not tripping. I already hate the fact I gave mine out, cos that phone has better color representation than the other two.

I think, that it would be extremely useful to perform the following tests on the exact same model (eg s23 ultra) :
1. Three exactly same phones with identical firmware, identical chipset (exynos or snapdragon).
Do their output match, or have imbalances due to manufacturing inaccuracies ?
2. Three same phones with different firmware , spanned across their prime life time
Initial, mid life, just before release of the next model
Curiosity killed the cat, but I believe that both test wills provide valuable information.

I suggest next time you include 100% crops of each photo after “fit to the screen” scale. It would be much easier to analyze the details captured by each camera.

My honest point of view is very close to what you mention. I'm not particularly impressed by the S24 Ultra results and I also think it needs a camera update ASAP. As for the other 2, when it comes to pictures and night videos rear cameras I would give the edge to the S23 Ultra. As for rear videos during the day, I prefer the image quality and dynamic range from the S22 Ultra, a shame of that jittery when panning around. I hope this helps. Any other question let me know. Since the S21 Ultra, the Galaxy S Ultras that came after it, didn't bring any major changes and that's really expected because it's the exact same camera hardware used since then except the 5X lens on the S24 Ultra! The only thing that has changed is the software optimization!
Thanks to Huawei that brought the 5X and 10X zoom lenses when Huawei was in the market before the ban and that's why we have the ZOOM lenses!
If the Chinese smartphones come to the global market, Samsung will have a serious trouble but Chinese smartphones can only be ordered online which is a bummer!
If I would pick a winner here, I would go with the S23 Ultra as an overall winner!
