What i like about this channel, is the humor, friendships and the nitty gritty of tank/ armoured vehicle fixing. No brushing over that it's a dirty job or that it can be painful and aggravating at times.
Don’t forget the porous cylinder head and leaky injectors accompanied by the need for a rear 1/4 chassis. Ohh and the added fun of trying to drop the fuel tank to replace a fubar fuel pump (without cutting an access hole in the boot floor). They are the gift that keeps on giving.
Years ago I bought my wife a Mk 1 VW Golf GTI second hand. I told her it was the economy model otherwise she would have been complaining about fuel consumption blah blah blah. Anyway she was happy.
AWWWW look at little Jack's face so happy😊.. looks like a squirrel finding a bag of nuts to play with 😁 That's very generous of you fella !! BUT i can see the motive .... Jack get a car that MIGHT survive the week ..... and you get your van back .. " simples" 😅
You guys are having an almost illegal amount of fun, keep up the good work! I am truly impressed with how you remember all the quirks of curing these slightly poorly machines!
Mmm I would think it's not exactly as easy as merely remembering stuff there will be a lot of research/asking people etc goes in to each job. Remeber we only see 15-20 minutes every other day or so
Hey! What a Great Gesture of Kindness! My Jeep Commander has 223000 miles and all the Bits work.(Noisy on the road though, I need to replace the front Diff) keep carrying on, Mr Hewes!
Reminds me of all the stories my dad has about his old crap cars like the Lincoln he owned that had no working doors so he had to climb through the sun roof to get in and out
Another ripper Lads! I'm still driving my 04 TD5 Disco and love it ......manual box though. It has been very reliable for me once you know the few things to keep on top of! Just replacing a coolant hose this week, but to be fair, it is 20 yrs old! Jack will love it and fix ix it up nicely I presume 😉 Keep it up gentlemen CHeers Gregg....
Lovely gift there, all in perfect working order, when it was made (Ok that might be stretching it a bit with land Rovers). Also as an added extra it had an authentic lived in (and partially vandalised) look which will deter predators and anyone with any sense of self worth from stealing it. better than any alarm or disabler. However I had a Disco and loved it till the onboard sprinkler system in the leaking rooflights decided to make driving unpalatable as it would store about 2 pints of water until you went and moved it which would then drench any fire you may have had in your lap as a precaution. It was given to a farmer mate who repaired said rooflight after his Disco caught fire mysteriously as he was welding something on it. It ended its days sideways in a ditch which is where all landrovers should end up. Hours of endless fun beforehand. Bravo Mr H.
Nice one Joe. Jack will be back in a couple of days time and say his disco has broken down lol 😂. Be great to see the pack installed and see the tank driving. Great entertainment you guys 👍👍👍👍
Will be the watts linkage bushes chaps, don’t bother trying to replace them they are a pain in the arse, you can buy the whole assembly that includes the 3 bushes and bolt it on in 10 mins, way to go!
I have to say I love love your channel you guys are hella mechanics I could tell you guys are either our brothers or family but you guys are great and hilarious at the same time your knowledge for these tanks are insane here in the United States it's a few people that know their stuff but the knowledge you have is incredible and you know every piece and the name for every little piece on those motors it's incredible to watch keep up the videos I love them!!!
You are a top bloke Joe!! That's what friends are All about!! Behind all the carry on you are all there for each other! Much respect. Try not to drive over that Disco in any tanks now😉😁
I quite fancy a Discovery 2, my mate has a 1999 base model which I’ve borrowed in the past. Completely straight piped, remapped to just over 200bhp, chucks out enough black smoke to make Greta Thunberg shed tears. Absolute minter 👌
At this point I could mention the excellent TH-cam channel (LR Times) where a German couple fix, maintain, and recondition LR Discoveries to a super high standard. There is the problem, they do everything properly even making their own tools when necessary using a home machine shop. Properly and 'Mr Hewes' is such an oxymoron it might be best to ignore LR Times after all.
A mate of mine in New Mexico has at least three Discos & a Range Rover, all early 2000's models. They all have the US spec petrol V8 & manage about 10 miles to the US gallon. Oddly enough, they're all reliable & being new Mexico, aren't rotted out. He's still a loony for liking them.
Long time subscriber. Love the tanks, the military vehicles, the ‘bants’ but this episode has actually hit the nail on the head for me why I like the channel so much. It’s the warmth and friendship between you all. It’s obviously genuine and very rare to find on tv or TH-cam. Don’t let this go to your heads but it’s very reminiscent of Clarkson, May, Hammond. I mean that as a huge compliment btw. Top Gear died when they left.
I had a discovery for 11 yrs I only had to replace the loom that run through the rocker cover it had a Bow engine it was a really nice truck my friend has it now
WOW! I guess the 2000 Disco I bought for my wife was a steal at $2000 USD! 192k miles and in _much_ better condition. OFC, it's suffering from the "Three Amigos" trio of dash warning lights: ABS, Traction Control, and Hill Descent.I have the skills to fix it, but not a diagnostic computer to clear the faults. It's currently down for a failed brake master cylinder. Second of two, actually. The original let go at 192,064 miles and 24 years after later. The replacement 'chinesium knockoff' I replaced it with lasted exactly 24 days and 764 miles. That's 1/365th of the lifespan and 0.397% of the miles of the original part. I'll be ordering a replacement TRW part in a week or so. If you have a low-budget suggestion for a diagnostic tool that's capable of performing the 'power bleed' or whatever it's called, I'd much appreciate it. There's only one local shop that is equipped to do the job of bleeding the ABS system properly after replacing the master cylinder, and they want $400 USD for the job. Considering how quickly the first replacement failed, I'm gonna be in for almost $1000 USD just for brake bleeding before this is over. And that's not even addressing the aforementioned Three Amigos issue. They charge $50 just to connect the diagnostic computer, tell you what's wrong and clear it.... Thanks from a disabled US vet! Les
Good old Disco Premium, does it still have the drop down tables for the rear seat passengers. Jacks tea room 🙂👍🏼 Thanks for sharing the day, and your welcome 😁
I have often come across broken things where I just have to scratch my head and say "How the crap did that thing end up...?" A good gremlin never sleeps...
A late model Disco2 was the first and probably last LR I've owned. Had to rebuild the engine after a runaway caused by a cracked head. After that it was great. Never let me down. Drove 20k miles around Europe. Advice to anyone with a TD5 bin the cylinder head and fit an AMC one. Well worth it (if you have £2k😂)
As a avid disco 2 enjoyer and owner of one (currently parked up cause of a blown head gasket in the rover v8) they are shit house, but they are also great cars, i love these discos
As always, fantastic pommy humour. Living here out on the farm in Sweden, my landlord bought a Defender. Because I used to own a SIIA in NZ, and he's heard the stories of all the repair work I needed to do to keep it running, I've become his go to Landy mechanic. Oh, the joys of english engineering. I'd rather work on my Mercedes LA 911 any day.
That’s good of you. I’ve seen and been around a lot of TH-camrs that don’t give above and beyond a meager salary that doesn’t provide enough for their workers to afford to buy a vehicle.
I like the taking the piss out of each other…..well bonded friendship…..god knows what Ted makes of it…… but he’s family….. so he just farts an excepts it 🤷🏻♂️😂

Everyone loves Ted!
It's the people
Totally agree
@MrHewes and his crew are like the armoured version of Hammond, Clarkson and May. Perfect chemestry between all involved with this channel.
Think of all the mums that now know where Jack lives. That street's going to get busy.
Think of all the mum's that know JOE was on that street
Now the police are gonna get busy 🤣
Clicking doorstraps - Check. Torn drivers seat - Check. No acceleration - Check. Rattles - Check. Vague steering - Check. What a babe!
All those options available from the factory at no extra cost.

So what you gifted him was a hobby, essentially. Always something wrong on these vehicles, right.
And still he looked genuinely happy. 👍
These lads work on tanks, a disco is basically an airfix model to them 😅
Giving Jack all his "things" back properly made me laugh. I need to start doing that when my wife swaps cars.
I wish I could send a pick....I'm.pretty sure my van's footwell has many of Jack's items in it.

@netflix DO IT!
We need the British Armour Repair Shop w. Joe Hewes - and we need it yesterday!
Lovely old fashioned mechanics doing lovely old fashioned mechanics very well…..a pleasure to watch.
You are TH-cam's new Clarkson, hammond and may... Love your videos.. Greetings from Norway...👍👍
Adam does resemble Hammond quite a bit too.

Found this channel a couple of weeks ago and is my type of of humour and style of repair and fault finding love it
let's face it lots of old landys, / discos not many of those foreign Johnnies around. Keep up all the good fun while working. Great stuff
A tidy Mark 7 transit 115 hp & above is a total machine. Massively under rated , cheap as chips. Fantastic driving position & in cab experience.
This is a great truck ! Love these ! It’s a proper truck!
