This is a very informative and through video. I’ve made a few mods to my own pelican and you taught me there is always more to learn. Thank you and keep up the good content.
My boyfriend just got me this exact kayak for christmas! I've been thinking of ways to modify it to fit all my fishing needs and this video helped a ton. Thanks!
Gabriella Kendus Great, glad it helped. I like fishing out of it. It's really light at stable. I have a video with me fishing out of it. I think it is really nice kayak and not expensive as some other others out there. Rig it up with what you need and enjoy fishing out of it. Take care and thanks for watching
Great minds think alike. I also put in a u bolt almost exactly like yours, only I placed it horizontally. I plan to use it to attach a paddle strap to it so I won't accidental loose the paddle overboard. I also thought it would be good to place a chain or cable as a thief prevention device. Although a determined thief would probably laugh at it. Good vid.
Yeah, it's is currently the one I use the most. It is so light. I usually throw my fear inside and then carry the kayak to places that I have to walk into.
@@jaimeastin Glad to hear you're enjoying your new machine. Is it an ongoing process and are their things you like or would change? Another video? lol Tight lines
Thanks for sharing your methods man! I just got the red and white one and it’ll have mounts all over the place for my photo and video stuff haha. Thats a pretty slick and easy way of holding the paddles and I’m definitely doing that. Thanks for all the ideas.
have ya a thumbs up for being smart enough to use rivets where you cant get to instead of self tappers and bolt and nut where you can get to. been telling people this for a while but self tappers are too easy and people flock to em.
Careful bro with that sit in. I know there light. Theyre throw qnd go.. Please purchase a Bilfge pump. There $20 at Dick's, or Amazon. I filled My old town sportsman minnkota, 106 cockpit, with the scuppers in. Two inches of water. I Pumped it all out in less than 2 minutes. And used my sponge on what was left. 🙏 😎 🎣
Thank you. I hope you enjoy your kayak as much as I do mine. When I got my first fishing kayak, it changed everything for me. It was and still is one of my best fishing investments.
+JaimeAstin Hello. It's been awhile. I had a raft I explored the lake in where I grew up. Hours and hours day after day. I have some amazing fish and unexplained stories.. Love your Positive videos. Hope you're still playing a little guitar ?
Hey man! What type and size rivets are you using? I saw that the plastic is roughly 1/4" thick, so do I need up to 1/2" marine rivets or will regular steel up to 1/4" rivets with silicone work fine?
Nice job JA. Great ideas, nice job on the install and real nice job on the video. Let me know what your address is so I can send my boat to you. So you can hook me up, HA!
Robert H if you are local to the sf Bay, bring it on over. I love rigging up..., Just about anything. Added new lights to my SUV just for driving, loading, and unloading my kayak/boat in the dark.
Happy birthday, and thanks for another great video. Thanks to you I ended up trying a Ned rig recently and caught a pretty decent bass with it. How do you like that Scotty rod holder?
Thanks and a Happy New Year to you Mitchel! That's awesome, Don (#Winkiedoodles) taught me the ned rig and man I tell you, It is in my two 3 baits and during this time of year, my number 1 go to. I really like the scotty rod holders. I have a couple others by another brand on my other kayaks... They are not as solid as my scotty. What I like about the scotty ones are that if something does happen to one, you can easily replace it. The mounts are very versatile with a wide variety of optional accessories can be used from fish finders, bait tables, down to a cup holder. So the investment can lead you to other accessories. My other rod mounts are nice, but if one broke, replacing one would be hard and the other is just not one I would want to replace... in fact, if something happened to them, I would just put a scotty on it, lol. I also have some scotty rails that I plan to use. They are similar to the gear track stuff you see everywhere... but these are universal. Again happy new year. The key to the ned rig is work it slow this time of year. There is a video on youtube with ned kehde, the creator... He is the one you should listen to first, lol! th-cam.com/video/qqGTzPt6TIQ/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/GodF40vjGh0/w-d-xo.html Those are the BEST ned rig guys on youtube... PERIOD!

Yeah, I use it for all the above. And yes, even for security... A determined theif would laugh, but it prevents the majority or easy pick thefts.
That was a cool idea!
Nice kayak
Sick build man, just picked up the pelican catch 100 today. Can’t wait to take it out.
Great to see, wife just got me one but a Magna100 but looks exactly the same.. lots of ideas

Are you Canadian? I got a magna and was told it's just a renamed model for Canada. Not sure though.
I modded mine similar to this video.
@@SPAZTICCYTOPLASM Yes, in Northern Alberta. Pelican just chances names with very little if any improvements. Not really impressed.

I installed a rudder on my old pelican pursuit 120 yesterday. It looks pretty much identical. Maybe longer. The rudder mount was 3d printed.

I have the pelcan argo 100 with a rod holder i put on
I have a FUTURE BEACH VOYAGER ANGLER SIT-IN KAYAK but I would like to add a rod holder up front like that. Do you have link to it?
Great ideas! Really made it into a nice setup!
