Hey guys if you freeze half gallon plastic jugs of water before your trip and use them in your ice chest it will save you buying ice and it keeps your food cold without having to drain water out of your ice chest. It last much longer too
Great channel! It's refreshing to see a real world camping channel, not an equipment snob channel. My wife is digging the recipes. Continue to enjoy life.
I'm 69 year old woman and I go camping at least every other weekend. I set everything up by myself because my fur babies that go with me don't have thumbs LOL I will continue to camp until I can't walk anymore.
"Handier then pockets in a shirt" that line just made my day! I'm really enjoying your videos. I am a beginner camper who camped as a child but haven't in 20 years. We are just getting our 4 kids into it as a family adventure to spend more time in nature. Thanks to your videos I was confident to set up our site and make dinner out first trip last weekend. The coleman oven looks amazing!
My husband and I rough it on our own lake property occasionally. No house, electricity or water there yet. Something I do to keep my cooler cold is to fill a large metal pan with water & let it freeze. I put it in the bottom of my cooler and it stays a frozen block for days. I also freeze a few bottles of water and that also acts as ice to keep my cooler cold and I always have cold bottles of water. You guys need to get collapsible wash tubs to wash your dishes in, love them for space saving. Walmart has a great one by Wakeman Outdoor. I also have solar lights I got at Target that brightens the campsite all night. I cook dinners at home and freeze them in foil containers with lids I get at party city. Then I only need to sit them on my Coleman stove & warm up. We sleep on an air mattress takes up less room and so comfortable.
Avid back country camper here and for our cooler ice we get a 12 pack of water bottles that we freeze, its great for drinking water as it melts and doesn't leave your food in water. We also wash and reuse them.
I have been binge watching your videos. I love camping and being outdoors considering I grew up camping since I was a 6 months old. This year I'm planning on several camping trips with my hubby and daughter. Definitely digging all the different recipes you make since it's giving me ideas to try.
I just found your channel this week. I must say, I'm addicted. It has been years since I tent camped, and now I'm itching to get back out there due to your videos. You provide the most useful and comprehensive information available. You are both very well spoken. You also make an attractive couple, which is a bonus. I can't wait to watch all of your videos.
I always have a large tarp strung between trees to give me shade and protection from weather. Fold a corner down to protect from the wind. Dry ice works best for freezer storage. We usually freeze milk jugs so we have water when they melt though.
Wow. What a difference a year makes! You are full time now right? Love your dishes. I 'd like to get some. Love the curry. Usually you folks eat stuff we never do ( lots of meat, wheat, dairy and sugar). I think I'll make curry for dinner. Thanks for the inspiration. I am thinking about getting both your tents and cots. Our tent is great and waterproof, but no windows. Cots are those hard to prise into place at the last stage. Your's are awesome. I've been watching you quite a while now. Interesting to see an old video again. All the best to you both.
Love your channel. If people can’t enjoy watching this channel this is not the life for them. This IS the most enjoyable channel to watch. Y’all seem so nice and friendly. It’s refreshing to see there are still good people out there 😉
20:35 The ice with the hole is called bullet ice. It does melt faster by design...to cool your drink faster. It also forms faster in an ice machine because of the surface area. We recently learned to almost-fill a jug with salt water and freeze that. (Look up the “recipe” if you’re interested.) It stays frozen much longer and helps the rest stay colder. Genius!
I'm so glad I ran across yawls videos ,, I really enjoy them ! And I've gotten so many Ideas from you guys as far as outdoor cooking , In fact just ordered the Coleman oven , Cant wait to try it ! Keep them coming,,,
my car tent camping setup was real similar. I enjoyed having tubs that were pre-packed and ready to go. I"m a PriusV camper now, so it's more ultralight than when I loaded a car full and had to set up. Wish I had the cool camera handy to show you my loading/setup system. Maybe some day...
We use a folding buck saw to cut the wind fall wood to campfire size. Takes up no space and really handy. And ya, 1 or 2 liter plastic pop containers with frozen water done at home for reasons mentioned here. Only fill up 3/4 with water because it expands when frozen. Great channel.
I recently found your videos and even though I am not a fan of tent camping am loving your stories. I am from the state of Oregon and have not been to Arkansas so the places you go are new to me and very beautiful. You guys do a great job with the content and editing thanks so much for sharing and will continue to watch your adventures.
DOME LIFE My favorite time is Fall - we have some beautiful colors and usually warm days and cool nights. Summer is always very busy... difficult to find places to camp without a lot of people. Our State Campgrounds fill up for the summer by the end of January. But we have a lot of BLM land that is free to camp and have some beautiful places. I would suggest to you to watch The Primal Outdoors Camping and Photography videos on u-tube he is from Bend Oregon and posts some great camping videos. My husband an I are older and have moved to Trailer Camping and still get to go outdoors. One other place I would suggest is called Wallowa Lake it is one our hidden gems that is known as the Oregon Alps. That was our last tent camping trip a few years ago we had a great time.
Avid camper here and always like to watch various videos for ideas, tips and tricks! Bought a tote yesterday for my non kitchen items and cannot wait to head up to the mountains again! Need to figure out a good heater though as I camp both in winter and summer (Colorado).
Yeah, have one but it’s tore apart at the moment because it wouldn’t stay lit. Keep hearing both pros and cons, just not sure if I will get another one or try and fix this one!

I must say you guys do professional-quality videos. The way you transition between shots is very enjoyable to watch in my view. I am 61 at this time and finally decided to do some car camping. If you will take a throw away aluminum baking pan close to the size of your Colman oven and put it upside down on top of the oven it will greatly increase heat up time and temperature control, not to mention save fuel. I’ve even used aluminum foil when I’ve forgotten a pan... Love y’alls stuff keep up the good work....
Thanks for all the healthy and hearty foods that you cook! I enjoy watching the variety and they always look amazing! Is there a place where I can find the soup recipe?
Hi Cody and Kelly!! Sure do miss seeing you guys. Great video as always. Kelly we have the same gray blanket, and now the same Flat round skillet.Love how your using every nook and cranny to pack, that's also how we roll. Love y'all and see you on the other.

Have you tried block ice? It lasts 3 days. I use little flat tupperware containers to keep delicate fruits and veggies from bruising and freezing. And for stuff that gets soggy if in cold water. Ha! I see that others suggest the frozen bottles. Thats actually better than blocks. More drinking water.
Tip on your cooler. Start with 2-3 ice blocks on the bottom. Then place a white vinyl coated wire cupboard rack(s) over the ice blocks. Place your goods on the rack(s). Sprinkle ice cubes around everything to fill the air space. The ice blocks take a lot longer to melt so your cooler stays dryer and colder longer. The racks keep your stuff from swimming when you do get the melt off going. Cheers!
@@CodyandKellie You can also make your own. Just get some deep rectangle shaped plastic containers with lids and fill 90% full. Deep freeze them, pop them out by running them under warm water upside down. Rinse and repeat. Once you pop a set out for a trip, refill and let them freeze while you are gone.
Another great vlog!!!!! Leann and I were going to buy the Coleman oven but they discontinued that model. Still looking though! Keep up the great work and keep those videos coming! See you on the other :)
Lose the ice cubes, instead, frozen bottled water! Drink the cold water when thawed. Lasts much longer than the cubes. If you continue with the cubes, get some ice cream salt. Salt helps to lower the freezing temps even more. Remember when you used to make homemade ice cream. Drill holes in your ice chest and fill with expanding foam insulation.
Wow you have this down to a science. Very impressive. We tent camp 1 -2 times a year. Wish we did it more. I love that you cook great meals outdoors. It gives me great ideas for our trips. I make a great tortilla soup. I will send you the recipe on Facebook. It is so easy, one pot and very tasty!
These days I have a 12 V fridge in my camper trailer, but before I got that, I used to get a block of dry ice from the store, and then I put regular ice over it. It would keep stuff really cold in the cooler for 3-4 days even in 90+ degree weather.

This was the most informative video I have watched on camping basics when using a tent and a car. Thank you, it touches on a lot of important points of consideration when packing and enjoying the tent camping experience and still using a car. Do you take any special precautions for critters, bears etc especially when cooking all that great food ?? And oh yes - Ice is an important subject when it comes to coolers, any info like that is good.
Thank you so much for your kind words. To protect our food, we always place it, and our cleaned cook wear back in our vehicle and lock the door. If we are kayak camping place it all in a dry bag, tie a top, and put it up in a tree away from our camp.
Try adding the wild caught shrimp from Trader Joes in that curry next time! I sear them pretty quickly in oil, salt, and curry powder, and then put them aside until the rest of the stew is almost ready to serve, then I just add them in at the end. Keeps them from getting tough and chewy.
Where are you heard someone say Arkansas watching you first time ok I see about the stove brands fitting. I’m familiar with some parts of Arkansas lived there part of my life and I have a brother in the woods in a cabin he built in Ash Flats. Just bought a lot in Piggott but mostly from Kennett Mo. Thanks. We need to try that next time.
Clean, extra drinking water when it melts too. :)
That is what we do as well. We keep them in our deep freezer to just grab and go.
That’s the key to these high performance coolers also. It only took me 2 years to figure that out. I wish more places sold ice in block form.
Block Ice lasts a lot longer than ice cubes. The milk jug idea saves money! That was a good suggestion, or purchase block ice.

New subscriber....me and wife have enjoyed watching your videos. Gonna try your chili recipe on our next camping trip.
Thanks for watching. Chili is so good with this weather
Great vibes
Thank yall so much for the video
Now I know you love the GOBO ! lol
Try adding the wild caught shrimp from Trader Joes in that curry next time! I sear them pretty quickly in oil, salt, and curry powder, and then put them aside until the rest of the stew is almost ready to serve, then I just add them in at the end. Keeps them from getting tough and chewy.
Sounds good!
so…so…so good and helpful video, thank you so much.
