Pho is one of those things I can eat day in, day out, regardless of what time it is or what weather it is. It's my personal comfort food! What is your comfort food?
You can do both. I find that it's not necessary with chicken because it doesn't have that much scum. But, if you feel more comfortable washing it first you can.
@@danieldoesfood thanks dan. Salt bath and ginger scrub is supposed to reduce the gaminess. Free range or old hen is best suited for the traditional recipe. I tried farm chicken and it is not as aromatic.
to be honest. there isn’t a real, good substitute for fish sauce. With that said, you can get a similar result using a mix of salt and msg or some sort of chicken bullion powder.
Thanks for the vid. It is not easy to find a good chicken Pho recipe video on youtube. I am going to have to combine techniques from various videos. What I am wondering about yours is, why didn't you add any spices like star anise or cinnamon?
Mainly because that's how I grew up eating it. A lot of the popular chicken pho places around me and my mom don't use spices in theirs. It also is because chicken is a very light and delicate flavor so adding spices masks it. So, I tend to keep it out. However, nothing wrong with adding it!
I've been searching for so long! I can't wait to try this. My big brother's best friend was Vietnamese and I was 9 when I had this at his house and it's the best soup I ever had in my life! I hope this is the same!!
I had someone ask me whats wrong with not covering the breast. I NEVER said that, you see how unpopular that is going to make me look. I told my daughter muslims cover their breast. I had someone Ask me whats wrong with pointing. I told my daughter it's rude to point at people. It's like I am being punished for being a good mom. Its like they just want me to give up.
Not all chicken pho recipes have it. I add those spices with beef pho but with chicken I like to leave ‘em out because chicken tends to be more delicate than beef. Now, if you want to add those spices, then feel free to do so.
This is just a regular chicken noodle basically. If the aromatics aren’t included, this isn’t chicken pho at all. But your chicken noodle soup looks good tho.

Hope you enjoy
That looks easy and delicious
Thanks for the recipe and cooking instructions.
No need to pre wash the chicken or immerse in salt bath prior to boiling?

Yeah. it does depend on the chicken. The chicken I used (free range) isn't gamey so i never see the need to.
Very well explained, I am from India, I wd love to try this soup. What can we use in place of fish sauce ???

I really want to make this yummy looking dish! 😋 but I am allergic to fish. (Fish sauce,) so I was wondering what I put in instead. 😊
You can substitute with salt + msg. I know there are brands of vegan fish sauce (no fish) you could use, but I am not sure how it would taste.
@@danieldoesfood, thanks!
New subscriber from philippines i like your menu recipe
Thanks for subbing!
Thank you best pho
I had a man at the Toronto airport who came up beside me at the Budget rental care company and told me to "take a picture it will last longer"

That is really one of the more cute and harmless comments, weird...yes....strange...def.
You're making it very difficult 😅😅
Oh NO not cilantro
Your recipe is incomplete dude! Where are the aromatics...cinnamon, star anise, fennel seeds, etc.?!?
Not all chicken pho recipes have it. I add those spices with beef pho but with chicken I like to leave ‘em out because chicken tends to be more delicate than beef. Now, if you want to add those spices, then feel free to do so.
He made it his way. Vietnamese Pho has these spices.
Yes. He missed that important step.
Chicken noodle soup broth. Not exactly Pho ga but still looks very good and simple.
