The ‘pink ladies’ were teenagers! They are all students at Sandy Springs Friends School - their weaving teacher is in my guild! This is their second year competing.
Thanks Rox. Glad you enjoyed your trip to the Maryland Sheep and Wool. Sheep to Shawl competitions are so interesting to watch. Your sweater is looking great. Love your sewing projects.
Love the sweater. Why don't you knit the 2 sleeves at the same time to ensure the dyed yarns match until you run out. Then whatever you dye after will also match for the rest of the sleeves.
Since it's already been 10 days since you posted, you may have already decided on your button hole band coloring, but I would definitely vote for picking up with the dark color. That would frame the stripes. It seems to me that if you picked up with the gray and did the ribbing without that dark pickup, the stripes would look like they've been left hanging.
Look at you go! Great jammies! They are super cute. Well done. And I love the sweater - it looks fantastic so far. Great colors. Look forward to seeing it completed.
I went to Maryland Sheep and Wool on Saturday with my daughter and it wasn’t very crowded except for maybe the food booths at lunch time, probably the rain kept it from being too busy. It was my first time there and we loved it!
Thanks so much for bringing me (and the rest of your viewers) along on your trip. Your sweater is GORGEOUS! Great sewing projects. Pjs are great “get back into it” projects, because they’re not going into public. If the hem isn’t perfect (or sleeves are different from the bottom), no biggie… if it doesn’t bother you. 😉 Once you get a pants pattern that fits, you can learn how to adapt that pattern to different looks, and whip out a pair of pants in a few hours, because you know it all fits, even the hem. 🙂
love the pjs , pretty sure the hems are going to be fine. I use my e spinner when i spin away from home , bought a battery pack . I bought the ashford, like the wood and the size. I use my majacraft rose or the kromski sonata at home...the later is very light and made for travel too.
Your Rhapsody Blouse looks so good on you, it also seems light and comfortable for very warm days. I love all your sewing projects, it is so refreshing, so summer like !!!
OMG, my head is reeling. What an amazing episode. The light in your eyes when you were talking about the E spinner?? I think you should get one, and not the 3-D printer variety. Get the good one. You know, (I know you know!) that a good piece of equipment is going to further your outcome, whereas "cheaping out" is a recipe for frustration. As to your sweater, my first inclination was to say dark double pickup band , gray and then dark. Then, upon reflection, I wondered if that was going to be too much - - too stripey. I think the gray pickup with the dark edging will satisfyingly "match" the bottom ribbing edge. I still love the idea of the polo collar, but you know what you're about... The white blouse is lovely nothing dental hygienist about it at all. The fabric is luscious. Your bathrobe and jammies are mega fun and it looks like you've done a fabulous job on all. I am so impressed and inspired by your energy... And I just love seeing the twinkle in your eye! Thanks, Roxanne, for all that you give us!
I suggest you experiment with sewing fabric with this kind of neck openings. There are several ways to do it at the bottom. Some ways are more bulky than others.
I don't have any trouble with the double needle on my machine, but I have an old Bernina 830 from the 70s. Perfect tension, all the time. I had a coverstitch machine and I sold it. Maybe I am old fashioned but I didn't like it that much.
I like the two stripes of the dark color with the gray in between. It would be beautiful. Can't wait to see what you decide. Your sweater is beautiful already. ❤
Thank you for the tour of the Maryland Festival! It’s on my bucket list for sure. Your sewing projects are wonderful and so inspiring. I hope to venture down the garment sewing path when I retire in the next year or two!
So glad you enjoyed our sheep and wool festival! I was planning to go on Sunday and hoping to run into you there - that would’ve been a thrill - but after a full day out in the rain on Saturday I wussed out and stayed home on Sunday. Probably just as well, as it is too easy for me to impulse buy from the great vendors there.
I guess I'm an oddball -- I think picking up in grey on the sweater with the dark blue only for the edging would be visually simpler. Two vertical bands of dark blue may create a busier visual that might draw attention away from and compete with the beautiful horizontal stripes. I'd probably have to create both and then spend days agonizing over the choice. 😆
I am so glad you had a nice time in DC and Maryland. This is my neck of the woods and MD S&W is also my local festival- but I was there on Saturday. It is such a fun time. Hope you come back next year. Unfortunately, misty is our normal weather in May.
Very interesting share 😊, thank you. For your stripes cardigan, since it has horisontal strips, I feel it will be nicer with two dark blue vertical stripes. This will give a frame to the horisontal body. It is comming up gorgeously ❤
I've been getting a lot of it at S R Harris, which is a sort of fabric discount warehouse. Others I have purchased from Treadle Yard Goods, where I've been taking classes.
Be grateful you didn't go to Rhinebeck. It was HORRIBLY CROWDED, we felt like a couple of sardines. People were forced to shuffle past exhibits. By the time you got near anything they were sold out. I'll never go back again!
Sweater is coming along nicely. The experimenting should help with some of the color decisions and collar style I would think. I like the construction of the back of the blouse. LOVE the jammies. I have a twin needle but haven't used it yet. I have a serger and a regular machine. You've been quite busy :)
I made pajama pants with the same blue and white foxes-bunnies-squirrel fabric! They’re sooo comfy! I’m looking forward to hearing about the high-waisted pants pattern because I have the same fit problem.
I think the two dark stripes around the button band would look better, and echo the bottom ribbing. It's also great to see you get so excited about sewing and learning something new. If you want to find out how you measure up against standard sizing many pattern drafting books have standard measurements charts, the one most people recommend is by Helen Joseph-Armstrong.
Hi there, its great to see that you are back. I know you are an adult and allowed to do things by yourself but I was wondering where you were. I am so pleased that you enjoyed your time in Washington DC at the Festival, it sounded like a really huge and friendly group. I was listening and knitting while I watched and when the screen changed and the photos popped up it was amazing. Love the Jacob sheep and all their different bits and the wool. Then when you were modeling that was fantastic, you are doing so well with that , your knitting and dying projects. I had better get off here and leave others room to comment. So lovely to see you and hope to see you soon. Take care.
I'm uploading one video per week, alternating between a Tues vid and Fri vid, so there is typically a Tues vid a few days after a Friday vid, and then it's about 10 days before the next Friday video.
If you only tried the Nano you really should give the EEW 6.1 a try. I have one and absolutely love it. I did start with the Nano as I wasn’t sure if I’d like an E spinner at all and the price was great. I ended up selling it once the EEW 6.1 arrived. There are quite a few people in my online spinning guild who really love their EEW’s too. So much more affordable than the Hanson or Daedalus.
@@susancrosby4363 I tried both of the e spinners they had in their booth. Didn't like either one. That's the thing about spinning wheels: what one person likes, another person detests. It was the same when I tried treadle wheels. There were wheels I absolutely hated (which many people really like, and which I *wanted* to like, but just couldn't), and others that I adored.
But intstead of the twin needle--which I can't use anyway, because my vintage machine can't accept it, it loads from the side--it's easier to just sew two rows of topstitching on a hem.
Loving the sewing content! Will you be at Shepherd’s Harvest this weekend? I usually go to Maryland Sheep and Wool but decided to try Shepherd’s Harvest this year! 😊
I'm curious about the shearing, carding, spinning, weaving part of the Maryland Sheep & Wool. Were the looms already warped? I'm curious about the finished weavings being very colorful.

Amazing!
Thanks Rox. Glad you enjoyed your trip to the Maryland Sheep and Wool. Sheep to Shawl competitions are so interesting to watch. Your sweater is looking great. Love your sewing projects.
Great podcast! Love seeing the sheep. Your sweater is beautiful. Your sewing is great.
very much enjoyed seeing your sewing learning process! it's so nice that you have a class with mentorship available!
Love the sweater. Why don't you knit the 2 sleeves at the same time to ensure the dyed yarns match until you run out. Then whatever you dye after will also match for the rest of the sleeves.
I love your sewn garments; especially the white blouse and the robe. Very nice!!

Great to see the wool show and the progress on your cardigan. Love the sewing projects. 🇬🇧
As you could tell, I was gobsmacked to see you! So thrilled.
It was so fun to meet viewers in real life! :-)
I vote for the double dark stripe effect for both bands on the front.
Thanks so much for bringing me (and the rest of your viewers) along on your trip.

Try using a wash away stabilizer in the hem when using a twin needle. Wonder tape is one brand.
Oohh I didn’t know this! Good tip!
I have a e spinner and love it. I use mine for plying. Ashford.
Great review of MSWF! But you missed some great vendors:Neighborhood Fiber Co, Dusty's Buttons, Hundred Ravens. Come back next year!
Well done with the sewing!
I'm looking at a cover seam nachine too.
So proud that my local guild sheep to shawl team won first place this year. It’s a lot of work but so much fun.
I suggest you experiment with sewing fabric with this kind of neck openings. There are several ways to do it at the bottom. Some ways are more bulky than others.
Love hearing about the sewing projects!
Thank you for introducing me to "Love Notions" patterns! I know am regretting having donated my serger when we downsized.
I like the idea of two vertical dark stripes on the button band, one at the pickup line and one at the bindoff.
I'm glad you had fun at Maryland Sheep and Wool. We missed you!

Really fun episode Roxanne, thanks!
What a great episode! Thank you!
I think the gray would look best.
The white blouse is gorgeous!!!
Love the jammies: maybe I will stop knitting socks for a bit and sew??? Thank you for sharing your knowledge of knitting with us all!❤
I looked for you on Sunday at MDSW but apparently just missed you. Had a great time at the festival and plan to attend next year.
I love it how one of those finnish sheep lambs decided that they're not walking. carry me hyooman.
It was fun to see which breeds were cooperative, and which ones were not having it at all! :-)
Very interesting share 😊, thank you.

Where did you buy all the fabric for your sewing projects which are all wonderful! Thanks for sharing all your new clothes that you made.
I've been getting a lot of it at S R Harris, which is a sort of fabric discount warehouse. Others I have purchased from Treadle Yard Goods, where I've been taking classes.
The EEL wheel nano's are not 3d printed anymore, they are injection molded and pretty good if you need a low price tag.

Fun episode! Enjoyed the festival and your new sewing projects?
I wonder if we have fewer animals at our festival because the state fair serves a similar purpose in MN
Possibly!

The wettest stroll around yarn I've taken!
Great video. I love your finished objects. I will have to checkout the classes at Treadle Yard.
If you're interested in e-spinners at a very reasonable price point, I can highly recommend the EEW 6.1 (Dreaming Robots). It's fab!
I'm glad you like them. :-) I tried several of their e-spinners, but those were the ones I didn't like at all.

I'll be there Sunday. From 12-2 I'll be at the MN Knitters Guild booth in the demo barn. :-)
You were thinking of “double drive” as compared to Scotch or Irish tension.
Yep, I figured that out as I was editing and put it on the screen. :-)
@@RoxanneRichardson ah. I was knitting furiously while listening and didn’t see it.

The looms were warped, and there was a plan for the pattern. I did include a picture of the shawls all displayed on a table.
@@RoxanneRichardson Yes, I saw them. That is some fast work!!!
I’m sorry, I couldn’t detect the accent of that announcer…

There is really no substitute for the coverstitch machine, unfortunately. Now you're getting sucked in.
