This is one of the most concise and impressive tutorials on 5.1 I've ever seen. Invaluable information! Thank you so much for this. This will help my editing significantly.
I've been searching for this tutorial for two days. Thank you Colin. Not the first time you've saved my life. I've been trying to export a feature film to go to a QC company for distribution, and they want a 4444 with 8 mono audio tracks: L R C LFE Ls Rs LT RT. From what i understand this is a standard way to deliver features these days. Premiere makes it literally impossible to figure out.The channel output assignments being ganged as 1&2, 3&4 etc leads to not 8 discreet tracks as they are in the sequence, but four pairs of stereo tracks (if you don't pan). My test clips kept failing QC because I hadn't intuited that I needed to pan all tracks (including C) left and right in the sequence setup, which is completely counter intuitive. I have a feeling that will solve the problem. THANK YOU!
Thank you so much for this!! Between a couple of your videos on surround sound you saved me from having to go back to the post house and pay them a bunch of money to conform the surround to a couple small edits I had made to my movie. You are a life saver.

Great Tutorial! But I cant click ob the output asignments so I am not able to choose the other track channels from the Master... The window from [15:35] wont show up. any ideas why?
At 15:35 you pan left then right....and then left and right again....and then left and right again. Isnt that middle left to right sending all of your center audio to the left and your LFE to the right? Shouldn't you leave channels 3 and 4 center?
When I create a sequence with 5.1 it gives me one audio track that is 5.1, how do I get the other tracks under it that are for the specific speakers like in the tutorial?

Another LFE work around; Edit > Edit in Adobe Audition > Sequence... Once your project is in Audition, open the track panner panel. There is an "LFE Only" button that will isolate the LFE. Make sure to turn up the LFE percentage on the bottom slider or you won't hear anything. I know this is a Premiere Pro tutorial but I hope that helps.
Thanks a lot Colin. This video was very helpful. But I have a question. Towards the end around 17:38 you show the track A8 having a plus button which is then used to get the panned sequence . I don't see any such track when in my project when I follow what you've said. Any help on that?
When you set up the multichannel tracks the center channel is panned and not centered. Why does it play back centered when you drop it in the 5.1 sequence?
Hello Sir. I'm working on a small project with a 5.1 video and i need only the SFX from it but i don't know how to isolate them properly. Little bits of the SFX mixes in the other channels and a bit of dialogue is present as well. I made a post on Adobe's Support Community about the issue i'm having and someone replied that i can't rip the SFX from a 5.1 mix alone, thus needing a SFX stem to be able to isolate them completely from the mix but i don't have access to that stem. If I understand you correctly, you're asking for the ability to take an already mixed audio file and separate the parts? I don't know of any software that will do that. Sorry.
Hi, Colin. Great tutorial. In the description of the video above, you provide a DropBox link to your finished "Surround_Test.mp4" file, which is super useful. That particular output file uses Dolby 5.1. When I import that file into the current version of Premiere Pro (v24.0.0), the audio comes in as 6 mono tracks. By any chance, do you have a version of "Surround_Test.mp4" that is exported with one of the other 5.1 formats that is currently supported by Adobe, so that the file imports as a 5.1 audio track? That would be useful to me. Many thanks!
@@VideoRevealed yes, that’s what I’m talking about. I know you don’t mostly Premiere pro but Audition is also a great program unless of course I am missing something should I be doing all my sound designs in premiere pro instead of Audition?? I am new to all this.
Yeah, I hear ya. I'm also a big Cubase user for my music production. I will do something in the future on 5.1 in Audition as it's better suited than Premiere Pro and the panner is much, much better.
if you allow me to give you some feedback: you have produced so many things and they are mixed up in the feed, I think: maybe it would be useful to create a difficulty level rate from 1 to 5, so who is beginner can quickly identify what they need [1 -2 ] and more advanced users can skip to level 3 4 5
I appreciate the feedback but many times I've had a professional tell me they learned something from a tutorial that I was sure was for newbies. I know what you're saying but there is value in watching all my tutorials, even if there is something more advanced. For new users, it's a road map to where they should be looking to advance their skills.
Thank you for this tutorial - however i was wondering if I could get some help: I have followed your steps and made a new 5.1 sequence. But when dropping in my audio file new tracks are created that do not show the 5.1 yet can be adjusted with the track mixer... Anyone who knows how to solve this? Do I need to change the audio files?
So I have 6 channel audio from a concert, the actual concert is in dolby digital and dts 5.1 channel, when I convert them to 6 wave files to listen to them separately into audacity, the stereo files have sound and work perfectly, but the mono tracks, the center channel, Sl, Sr channel don't have any audio is there a problem with the file or my audio system?
@@VideoRevealed I've tried it on on every software not just audacity, it seems to be the 3 mono channels the center, sl, and sr channels that are not working.
Mr. Smith, thank you for all of your great tutorials! I have a really dumb question as newbie to 5.1 mixing in Premiere (I have cc 2019). I have an M-Audio interface to which I have my two studio monitors attached. Here's the dumb question. Can I use 5.1 surround headphones and hear the 5.1 mix simply by plugging the headphones into the headphone jack on my audio interface? Does 5.1 decode through standard 1/4" output to a device (i.e., headphones) that can decode a 5.1 file? Thanks so much for your time!
Hello I have a realy realy important questions about the 5.1 keys and hope you can help me because I freak out since days. For example :I have a 2 min 5.1 story sequence, center keys, front keys ect but not I want to cut from the 2 minutes 10 secunds out and put the footage together all 5.1 keys dont move with the footage. All keys are at the same position. But I want to move all footage, audio (5.1 keys ect) any helps?
Since premiere pro doesnt support dolby anymore can you create a tutorial on how to use dolby's conversion tool? Im trying to separate music from clips that involve music, so if you know how to do that without using 5.1 in premiere than I guess that would also be super helpful.
@2:58 you talk about multichannel audio interface such as USB Thunderbolt of Firewire that has multiple outputs. You neglected to mention TOSLINK (Optical). Most modern motherboards made in the past several years will have this integrated into the rear IO.
@@VideoRevealed TOSLINK stands for Toshiba Link, and I think it's trademarked. Now that I check, PC vendors call the connector SPDIF Optical. Which to my understanding is the same thing, just avoiding the trademark. www.purdylounge.com/spdif-vs-toslink/
Adobe says "any audio hardware with frequency above 44000 Khz are accepted in Premiere Pro," but I see often in the forums that not audio interfaces work well (i.e. some get locked by PP)
Premiere Pro uses the drivers that are installed by the audio interface and the operating system. If you can see the interface in the operating system, then Premiere Pro will see it too. If you want my recommendation then I'd say use anything from Steinberg, Focusrite, MOTU, and stay away from Behringer or M-Audio.
My film school is only lightly touching on surround sound (mostly because I asked them to), however the lecturer says he will migrate over to ProTools to teach this as he's a professional sound engineer for films and he prefers to teach in that program. Would any of your future programs touch up on (or feature) Pro Tools and their surround sound capabilities?
You'd need 6 separate Sonos speakers plus an interface from the computer that offers 6 separate outputs. It's actually cheaper to buy a 5.1 receiver and speakers.
Hello. What I want to do is this: I want to get a stereo output in a channel with 5.1 surround. So that both 5.1 and stereo alternatives are available for the same sound file. For example, the person who has a 5.1 sound system at home should be able to activate this option and use it. 5.1 sound system should be able to activate the stereo sound in the same file and continue. I don't know how to do this, it is not found in any healthy source.
If it is Matrix encoded to Dolby Pro Logic II, a modern surround system should be able to decide the stereo into a 5.1 format. It isn't true Dolby digital with 6 individual channels but this why people are lead to believe they are getting surround sound from TH-cam. It's not spoken about very often bc people don't understand it.
Hello Al, first of all we can see with your face expression how really difficult audio can be tricky in details!! I love to hear perfect audio but hate to work it myself...anyway I wanted to say something about the sequence you created with Multichannel, you imported the audio and as well we did not hear the whole sound, but there is one button that let you hear the whole audio (in the Audio Track Mixer window, on the master on the top there is something called Monitor All Channels). I wanted to try if we still here the left and right movement but i am not on my workstation. Anyway I am sure you know about it but wanted to ask, why you did not talk about it ? Thank you.
I have a question, can i turn my 5.1 audio to normal audio? i dont really need 5.1 audio and it just gives me problems, and i dont know how to deactivate this option
No, as I show in this tutorial, once you choose 5.1 as your Master Audio, you can't change it. You can create a new Stereo Master Sequence, then copy and paste all the tracks from the 5.1 Sequence.
great video, thank you ! do you have a recommendation for a audio hardware to monitor my Pr surround sequence, i have active speakers (i don't want to go in a amplifier), thanks !
Sorry, I don't have any recommendations for hardware. Anything with multiple outputs will work. Most professional audio interfaces have 1/4" or XLR outputs that do not carry power so they plug right into active speakers.
Cheap recommendations would be a surround sound system, or home cinema system. I monitor using the _Sony BDV-E2100_ system as it has great sound for its pricerange. Please note that it only has 5.1 input through its Toslink connection. But I assume there are plenty options out there that do support better systems. I think a system you plug in to your computer using USB would be the best for you, but I don't have a specific product to recommend you yet. However do get in touch with me if you want to look into a good system in your price range!
You can't do that in the Timeline. You need to export out a new audio file that is set to 5.1, import it back in and place it on the Timeline. It won't change anything thought; the 2 tracks in a 5.1 Sequence will sound the same as 2 tracks in an exported 5.1 audio file.
Hi, I noticed that once I put the various keyframes on the audio clip, if I move it on the timeline, the key frames that I put remain on the same position of the timeline, they are not moved together with the clip. the key frames of the volume yes, but those of the plugins not .. why? thank you
Track keyframes do not move with the clips. Clip keyframes move with the clips but you can't use them for 5.1. You have to manually select the keyframes and move them yourself. Use the Pen tool to select multiple keyframes by dragging around them.
If you're working with just 6.0 instead of 5.1 (so no LFE), is it best to have "Standard" for your track types when making a new sequence? Or still "5.1"?
Hi, so I edited a track on audition, 8d audio track, when I export the video , the audio do not export the audio with 8d sound, it is stereo, I tried to change on the composition, on the audio tab, but do not work. is that way to make it work? when I export the video
@@martinyable * YES , but if I'm right, currently its just via the *"TH-cam native app from TV"* . Browser doesnt support it , same as the app in our mobile devices. There's a channel that does 5.1 , 4k trailers and even HDR or 8k. Name of channel *"4k clips and trailers"* , it should come up if you search 4k trailers. **He used to do Atmos but i guess something about TH-cam hence its just basic 5.1 now ? **There's a video in there showing proof its supported provided you have the right set-up
@@jianxiongRaven agree. But i would like to find a tube video that is definitely 5.1, and then test from my TVs tube player. Do you have any link to a 5.1 video?
Two ways: 1. Drag a 5.1 audio clip to the Timeline and it will make a new 5.1 track for you. 2. Right-click on any audio tracker header and choose Add Tracks... then choose 5.1
@@Petersonmgee Creation of a 5.1 track is done either by recording it on a recorder that supports it, or, what I assume you want to hear is you can make it yourself by editing it and rendering it, using this video as reference. Please note: this video is only to let you listen 5.1 audio in Premiere Pro, and that in turn allows you to render this out. 4 years ago VideoRevealed made a video called *5.1 Dolby Digital export options in Adobe Premiere Pro* I hope this helps you further!
@@horizonhunterproductions Yes I meant either recording or actually creating (producing). So if you use a 5.1 recorder it automatically separates for you? What if you’re producing the track yourself? Maybe this isn’t a question for a video guy lol
@@Petersonmgee As 5.1 is no more than just 6 separate audio tracks you can either use a recorder that supports 5.1 natively or a recorder that records whatever you want to 6 separate (or 5 separate channels) as the .1 stands for the Subwoofer and does not have a specific location, it is easy to assign the lower frequencies to the separate channel in post, so only 5 channels really need recording. Long story short, 5.1 audio is usually created in post production, and only really needs 6 channels of audio to work. Even recording on separate recorders and combining it all in post can do the job for you! (I.E. Stereo mics in front, and back + a separate middle mic (or just stereo front combined between 4000 and 7000Hz (human speech) for the center channel, then a separate channel for the bass sounds.)
I don't see 6 channels only 2. Followed instructions in this video to the letter. It must be something I'm doing wrong. Is there a setting I should be aware of?
Hello. I just have a stereo track on my video and I have to show it in a cinema. We made a test with our stereo file and of course just the front speakers were activate. But I want that all the speakers diffuse all the sound all the time. I just want to keep the stereo image in the cinema. It's an immersive piece of sound. What's the best way to do it? 1 stereo track for front left and front right. Then 1 stereo track for back left and back right. Then what do I do with the center and the sub? Thanks for the video tough!
5.1 mixing isn't done like that. There is no way to easily convert stereo to 5.1, you need the original media and it needs to be mixed properly. Just sending the same signal out all speakers will not sound good.
Hi Laurent! I'm on the same situation that you are. I need to adapt a stereo track to be able to hear it from all the speakers of the teather. I don't care if it is the same audio track replicating on different sources. did you find a way to achieve this? I could use your help for this emergency. I'd deeply appreciate any details on this. cheers!!
Donwload Sony Vegas and open the stereo audio in a 5.1 setup, then you can play it in that, it will make it not the same sound to every speaker but it will be balanced, then you need to add a lfe channel
that was really cool explanation (please excuse my latino english) i got digital audio conected to my 5.1 amplifier, ¿how can we monitor the 5.1 mix from premiere?
You need some type of audio interface that has 6 separate outputs. As long as your operating system can access all those outputs, then Premiere Pro can too. There are many interfaces out there, many support USB so they work on macOS and Windows.
If your operating system can see the outputs, then so can all Adobe applications. Here is a screenshot: imgur.com/xl4Vx5T If you can't see the outputs when choosing the correct Device Class, then your card isn't using standard protocols.
Those are actually several different jobs: - On set sound recording - Sound mixing - Sound Design - Foley No one records in 5.1, you make a 5.1 mix by using all the people in this list. It's not something you can learn from a couple of videos, it's a very complex collection of skills.
I'd love to know this too - i've got a 7.1 from he audio studio, and I cant figure out how the hell to sync and export it to my footage from premiere :(
Hey Colin. Thank you so much for this super informative and helpful video. I'm showing a short video in my local cinema next week Friday, and I'm playing with the thought of making a 5.1 mix instead of showing only Stereo. I have a couple of "audio swells", lower-end frequency sounds just like you hear in big blockbuster films. Are those sounds only meant to be played on the LFE, you think? Or would I be well off, playing them from lets's say the 3rd Ch, center? If the low drone-like humming sounds can only be truly felt by placing them in the LFE, should I go for your second option shown in the vid? (making a 6 Ch master, then throwing the nested seq into the 5.1 track). Tusen takk, muchos gracias, enkosi kakhulu - that's Thank You's in Norwegian, Spanish and Xhosa!! Hope it'll persuade you into answering my question : ) and THANKS! Martin Ask
@@VideoRevealed Could you put the gist of your answer as a reply so it's visible to the public? I'm learning a ton and would love to know the answer to his question :)
Also please note that Dolby Atmos and other technologies like it are a bit more advanced than 5.1 audio. 5.1 audio only implies 5 speakers and a subwoofer (FrontLeft/Right, RearLeft/Right, Center and Sub) Dolby Atmos has a much wider range of speakers, with specific algorithms that gives it its trademark. To look in to this, or similar systems like it I recommend getting into binaural audio first, which you *can* output in Premiere Pro!
Is your audio file a 5.1? Did you try to manually add a 5.1 audio track by Right-clicking on the Track Header and choosing Add Tracks... Here is a screenshot: imgur.com/a/3finL
@videorevealEd I need your help. I'm using Adobe premiere cc 2017. I followed your instructions and opened a 5.1 six audios but I'm having two challenges. 1. There's no auto pan in all the channels just like yours. It only has a master pan. 2. Second problem is, I can't insert any audio into the 6 channels. I tried using mono audio files and it didn't work... Pls help me asap. I'm desperate 😭😭
You'll only see the surround panner if the track is mono. Right-click on the left side of the Timeline and choose Add Track. Pick mono. Now drag your media to that track. Also, why are you using 2017? Update to 2020 for tons of new features, better stability and more.
I can open and play the test video in my computer. When I place to timeline by drag and drop, than Premiere does not see audio track only the video track. The message of Downloading Dolby support was displayed. :-( I have legal full version.
Yeah, I think that's a licensing setting you can't change. The file I gave you is meant only to be used to test on a home theater and not for editing. It's most likely something Adobe had to do, which is to embed a Copyright flag for Dolby Digital and to honor that same flag when importing; ie, don't import the audio. The same thing happened to me and the dialog to load the Dolby codec is expected. Many things are out of Adobe's control.
@@VideoRevealed sir thank you soo much sir.❤️❤️❤️just now I did it in premiere sir and it solved my issue❤️ just one more question sir. My media college teacher said that "5.1 mix we do in premiere is not proper 5.1 mixing.its called as leveling." What's the difference between Mixing - leveling - mastering ?
Hi, I'm working as a video editor for a pilot film project which will be projected in Dolby Atmos Theatre but our sound mixing for film is not Dolby Atmos mix. It's just 5.1 mixing. Is there going to be any issues while screening? My second question is..as a video editor do i need to care about audio tracks settings while exporting movie for cinema? because i heard...video and audio tracks are given as separate files to the cinema
I haven't worked with Dolby Atmos so I really don't know. I would guess that the audio needs to edited in a program that supports Atmos and exported out to the format the theater screens at which would be any number of formats. It might be worthwhile to source out a professional audio house to guarantee your results.

if you allow me to give you some feedback: you have produced so many things and they are mixed up in the feed, I think: maybe it would be useful to create a difficulty level rate from 1 to 5, so who is beginner can quickly identify what they need [1 -2 ] and more advanced users can skip to level 3 4 5
EXTREMELY HELPFUL
Thanks.

I have a suround sound set up but adobe wont push to the back speakers any idea why?
the best video on this Rare topic ...
Now we just need Adobe to go back to including Dolby Digital licenses!
sir i got 5.1 steam (6 ch) from sound department...what settings i should choose?
So I have 6 channel audio from a concert, the actual concert is in dolby digital and dts 5.1 channel, when I convert them to 6 wave files to listen to them separately into audacity, the stereo files have sound and work perfectly, but the mono tracks, the center channel, Sl, Sr channel don't have any audio is there a problem with the file or my audio system?
I am not familiar with Audacity so I don't know if it's working correctly or not.
Headphones are stereo only, so no 5.1. You need 6 separate outputs from your interface and 6 separate speakers to be able to monitor 5.1 sound.
Track keyframes are not locked to the footage and need to be manually selected and moved by hand. Sorry, there's no other way.
@@VideoRevealed so you can't editing the video after placing track keyfrems without changing all the keyframes? Really bad
You saved me!! Thanks!!!
so clear, wow. thank you
Hi, when you made the multichannel sequence, why did you turn the center and LFE channels to left and right? Shouldn't they be at the center?
In a Multichannel Master the panning is really just routing. The LFE needs to go to channel 4, which is the right output of 3-4. Make sense?
Ooh yes, now it makes sense. Thank you very much! Also great vid.
Awesome!
Thanks so much!
Since premiere pro doesnt support dolby anymore can you create a tutorial on how to use dolby's conversion tool? Im trying to separate music from clips that involve music, so if you know how to do that without using 5.1 in premiere than I guess that would also be super helpful.
Sorry, I'm not familiar with, and don't own any Dolby software.
@2:58 you talk about multichannel audio interface such as USB Thunderbolt of Firewire that has multiple outputs.
You neglected to mention TOSLINK (Optical). Most modern motherboards made in the past several years will have this integrated into the rear IO.
Oh yeah, I think some vendors offer them as some kind of combo jacks so they're easy to miss.
Thank you for this video! so now without the dolby license, it is not recommended to export a dcp file 5.1 from the latest version of premiere?
I suggest using another DCP solution; there are several out there but I'm not familiar with them.
Thanks for the great video! Wondering if you can make any suggestions on some good, compatible audio interfaces for Premiere Pro?
Adobe says "any audio hardware with frequency above 44000 Khz are accepted in Premiere Pro," but I see often in the forums that not audio interfaces work well (i.e. some get locked by PP)
Premiere Pro uses the drivers that are installed by the audio interface and the operating system. If you can see the interface in the operating system, then Premiere Pro will see it too.
If you want my recommendation then I'd say use anything from Steinberg, Focusrite, MOTU, and stay away from Behringer or M-Audio.
VideoRevealed thank you for your suggestions!
Sorry, I don't use Pro Tools.
hi, thanks for this helpful video. I was wondering if it would be possible for me to mix in 5.1 (and hear in. 5.1) using Sonos speakers. thanks again!
If you upload a video with a 5.1 to youtube, will it sound, but Stereo?
You can definitely export a format that supports 5.1 but I have no idea if the default settings for the browser will support playback.
Perfect. Thank you!
You're welcome.
Thank you.
I didn't mention it because I missed it! Sorry, and thanks for pointing it out.
VideoRevealed no problem we all understand how hard it is to make audio tutorial🖒🖒keep on doing your amazing work.
Thanks a lot for this one!
You're welcome.
can u show the same in sony vegas
how to do 5.1
I have never used Sony Vegas. Sorry.
However do get in touch with me if you want to look into a good system in your price range!
nice its actually working, im suprised
Excellent video but I maybe missing something, how do I convert from my stereo audio that’s already in the timeline to 5.1 ? Or is that too late ? Lol
@@VideoRevealed I did it so, Thank You
If you're working with just 6.0 instead of 5.1 (so no LFE), is it best to have "Standard" for your track types when making a new sequence? Or still "5.1"?
It all depends on the content; if you are starting with 5.1 clips, then use 5.1 tracks, otherwise Standard or Mono are fine.
I see, thank you! I've been having issues with my export(s) rearranging the audio channels/messing up the mix, it might be a codec thing instead.
i think the same effect can be easily made by adobe audition.
Correct.
Hi, so I edited a track on audition, 8d audio track, when I export the video , the audio do not export the audio with 8d sound, it is stereo, I tried to change on the composition, on the audio tab, but do not work. is that way to make it work? when I export the video
I asked a computer audio engineer what 8D is and he said it's not a real thing.
i’m still confused. does the audio file have to already be 5.1 or can you make a normal audio file into 5.1 using this method?
Audio files could be mono or stereo. Then you put them in the tracks and you assign the tracks exit like L, R, C, LFE, etc.
5.1 is supported now.
Hi Tang. Do you mean UTube supports 5.1 now? Do you have any examples of 5.1 on here so I can test my system please? Thanks !
@@martinyable
* YES , but if I'm right, currently its just via the *"TH-cam native app from TV"* .
Do you have any link to a 5.1 video?

wanted to ask you why do I have "MIX" In Audio track mixer in every track instead of "MASTER" ?
Well, I think the term "master" has been deemed culturally insensitive these days so it's being replaced. Master bedrooms are now Primary bedrooms.
How do you get a 5.1 track? How do you create one??
Two ways:
1. Drag a 5.1 audio clip to the Timeline and it will make a new 5.1 track for you.
2. Right-click on any audio tracker header and choose Add Tracks... then choose 5.1
@@VideoRevealed lol but how do you CREATE a 5.1 track
@@Petersonmgee Creation of a 5.1 track is done either by recording it on a recorder that supports it, or, what I assume you want to hear is you can make it yourself by editing it and rendering it, using this video as reference.
Please note: this video is only to let you listen 5.1 audio in Premiere Pro, and that in turn allows you to render this out.
4 years ago VideoRevealed made a video called *5.1 Dolby Digital export options in Adobe Premiere Pro*
I hope this helps you further!
@@horizonhunterproductions Yes I meant either recording or actually creating (producing). So if you use a 5.1 recorder it automatically separates for you? What if you’re producing the track yourself? Maybe this isn’t a question for a video guy lol
@@Petersonmgee As 5.1 is no more than just 6 separate audio tracks you can either use a recorder that supports 5.1 natively or a recorder that records whatever you want to 6 separate (or 5 separate channels)
as the .1 stands for the Subwoofer and does not have a specific location, it is easy to assign the lower frequencies to the separate channel in post, so only 5 channels really need recording.
This is gold 🔥
very nice to understand
Thanks.
I don't see 6 channels only 2. Followed instructions in this video to the letter. It must be something I'm doing wrong. Is there a setting I should be aware of?
You're most likely not adding the correct Master Track or Track format.
Or, you're looking at the Clip Mixer and not the Track Mixer.
I'd deeply appreciate any details on this. cheers!!
HI, I'm in the same situation. Did you make it work?
Donwload Sony Vegas and open the stereo audio in a 5.1 setup, then you can play it in that, it will make it not the same sound to every speaker but it will be balanced, then you need to add a lfe channel
thank you!!
You're welcome.
that was really cool explanation (please excuse my latino english) i got digital audio conected to my 5.1 amplifier, ¿how can we monitor the 5.1 mix from premiere?
You need some type of audio interface that has 6 separate outputs. As long as your operating system can access all those outputs, then Premiere Pro can too. There are many interfaces out there, many support USB so they work on macOS and Windows.
@@VideoRevealed thanks! i´ll try (my card has all thoose outputs) it is sad to be unable to use the 5.1 enviroment using digital
If your operating system can see the outputs, then so can all Adobe applications. Here is a screenshot: imgur.com/xl4Vx5T
If you can't see the outputs when choosing the correct Device Class, then your card isn't using standard protocols.
@@VideoRevealed thanks... i´ve been trying but have no good result, ¿could we talk via e-mail? TIA
Please tell me where can I find some practical recommendations about audio-recording for a movie? How to record these 5.1... how to record LFE.
Those are actually several different jobs:
- On set sound recording
- Sound mixing
- Sound Design
- Foley
No one records in 5.1, you make a 5.1 mix by using all the people in this list. It's not something you can learn from a couple of videos, it's a very complex collection of skills.
I understand!.. But I have no money for the serious work. And still must to make some films for to start with. So I have to learn all I could.
Spend time making mistakes, that's the only way you will gain knowledge.
So my question is how do I export an already created and mixed 5.1 audio track (single track) properly?

How to change normal audio to Dolby Atmos and use it in Premiere Pro?
Adobe removed the Dolby license so you have to buy it separately.
Also please note that Dolby Atmos and other technologies like it are a bit more advanced than 5.1 audio. 5.1 audio only implies 5 speakers and a subwoofer (FrontLeft/Right, RearLeft/Right, Center and Sub)
Dolby Atmos has a much wider range of speakers, with specific algorithms that gives it its trademark. To look in to this, or similar systems like it I recommend getting into binaural audio first, which you *can* output in Premiere Pro!
when i do this, my timeline dont gif the 5.1 i can't put audio there what is whrong? codec?
Is your audio file a 5.1? Did you try to manually add a 5.1 audio track by Right-clicking on the Track Header and choosing Add Tracks...
Here is a screenshot: imgur.com/a/3finL
TH-cam support 5.1, but only on the TV-apps, Roku, Chromecast and such.
Not on PC in a browser.
EDIT: God, the video is 6 years old.
How to rendering wrap to dcp for 5.1...
I can open and play the test video in my computer. When I place to timeline by drag and drop, than Premiere does not see audio track only the video track. The message of Downloading Dolby support was displayed. :-(
I have legal full version.
I see. Thank you
Is it possible to mix 7.1 in Premiere Pro or any alternatives? Thank you!
Premiere Pro does not support 7.1 surround sound and I'm not aware of any other available options.

You can only edit them if you break them into mono channels.
