Actually the metal popcorn container can be cleaned out and used to store any dry food or even plastic bottles of condiments because it's mouse proof 👍

Do not give away clothes with stains, rips, holes. Charities will have to throw them away anyways. I have volunteered at a nonprofit thrift store and I have run a clothing closet for the unhoused. People will not buy or take badly damaged things. Goodwill has to spend 1/7th of every dollar which comes in on trash because people keep giving them things which are broken or damaged.
Whenever you start decluttering and pick the easiest thing, I love how you have the camera scan the area because I always try to guess what you will pick. This time, I was right!
I am so proud of you for getting rid of paper without touching each piece! That's incredible progress. I love the basement series! My only request would be not to show us just the newly cleared spot but the basement as a whole because then we can really see and celebrate your progress as a whole. ❤️

I think it's great you put all the car parts in the garage. You're putting like with like. It will be easier to deal with when you can see it altogether. I was so excited to see that you looked at an old pile of paper and were able to toss it quickly. It helps me know that I will get to that point too!
Instead of churning you can think of it as organising. Organising helps you find and use stuff instead of buying duplicates or is a step that can help you declutter latter, so it’s important even if you don’t declutter everything right away.
Dear Ms. Heart - an incredibly helpful thing I read on an instagram account for anxiety, is to NOT refer to those feelings as “panic attacks.” The one thing the author stressed is that NOTHING IS ATTACKING US. That was HUGE for me. He suggested instead calling it an “adrenaline rush,” and I don’t know why, but it’s made a HUGE difference for me. Try this as you go through those difficult basement boxes that are understandably filled with memories and emotions. Nothing is attacking you, it’s just adrenaline, and if it’s released, it will peak and then fade. We have nothing to be afraid of in our clutter, and nothing is attacking us. Please know that you are so loved by all of us, and feel that instead of fear.

I’d fallen off the wagon with regular upkeep and decluttering over the past few months and I’ve not been feeling very good about it at all… My whole bedroom is my catch-all lol, and I knew things had gotten bad when for the first time in over a year I lost my keys! Day 1 of COVID, and the FIRST thing I’ve done this week is go back to your channel and pick up the videos where I left off 2 months ago. You are the most valuable TH-camr out there for me! The kitchen and bathroom have been maintained religiously for ages and I really enjoy these spaces. 4 days into being off ill and I’ve got so much floor space in my bedroom! Hi Melanie! You did a great declutter! Consolidating, labeling are all good! This process eases our anxiety! A slow transition. I still have to go through paper! Mostly because I know how easy one can accidently throw out something important that got mixed up with the non important. When cleaning up, I used to take a bag and throw it all together, with the idea that someday I will get to it. Guess what, that someday is giving me anxiety! I will have to get the guts and tackle small handfuls. It is just so emotionally draining! You are doing so good! Thanks for the incentive and real life examples!☺💖🩴👗🧹🚮

I’m not even a hoarder and even I could not get rid of paper without looking at each piece. Am I ocd? I think it’s just cuz my husband’s business has lots of paperwork and I’m always worried I’ll toss something important if I don’t see each piece.

I followed flylady loosely for years, before, if I had company planned, I’d have to spend hours just trying to hide all my stuff, to make one room decent, these days, I’m still untidy, but it takes so little time to organise and look presentable in all rooms in the house, it’s from owning far less!! I recently lost my mum, so I’ve gained a lot of sentimental things of hers including furniture, I couldn’t bring myself to let go of, she passed the day before we moved house, so I just arranged my new home to include her things and it’s worked perfectly! I need to go through each room regularly otherwise I lose control, but giving things away brings so much joy!!
It seems like stuff is still being churned in the basement. Maybe seeing strict limits for items going down to the basement might help you make even more progress

I got really mindblown when you first showed the bins that fell off because in the start of the series we could barelly see the rest of the basement and now its all sorted and the trash is gone... Yeah! A nice pan would be appreciated! I use the poles to see how far your progress is but sometimes the angles don't show the poles.
