- Frustration over crime fuel the effort to recall Alameda County D.A. Pamela Price and now a group has launched a campaign to remove Mayor Sheng Thao. Da Lin reports. (1-5-24)
We need to get rid of Pamela Price first.
We should also recall London Breed as mayor of San Francisco. The city is now a ghost town!

The problem is impractical Activists own the current crop of Politicians all over the city, State, and Country.

I've met a lot of these Activists; they are naive, and have no practical experience.
Many of them like the attention and power...but have no idea how to get things done in an effective manner.
Normal people go to work and take care of their families, and don't have time for all this political stuff

Bravo brother, you nailed it. Jennifer Freidenbach, heading the Coalition on Homelessness, has been at it for over 30 years, and look at the improvements she and her group have wrought on the area. These activists are parasites, taking public grant money claiming they have solutions. They don't, like you say they want the attention, people praise them for their 'righteousness', and they don't have to get a real job. Leeches.

Officials from OPD and EWD knew of the grant application shortly after the state announced the opportunity and that police leaders said early on they would handle the application. OPD had been aware of the grant since April. Public records show that an EWD staffer flagged the grant for OPD and offered to help the department with the application. Police officials replied that they had it covered. The mayor's office took responsibility for it, but this is on OPD.

Its not Rocket Science to see, the numerous BLUNDERS that have a direct correlation to the Mayor's office. The citizens cannot afford the next election cycle by letting this slide, period. Judge Brenda Harbin Forte is Absolutely Correct in her assertions and I hope that her efforts are Fully supported by longtime residents as well as the newer demographic of voters who voted "kindness " over "experience ", and the small businesses as well as the big box stores that have suffered greatly from loss of supplies and inventory, and break-ins with impunity, in broad daylight. To the fearful public who are frequently targeted by strong arm thefts,(seeing the 80 y.o. ice cream vendor robbed in the middle of the day brought tears to my eyes),and traumatized to even come out of their homes.The State of Emergency, if declared, would have pointed to obvious incompetence and vendetta based decisions, but to this moment, was Never done. The previously mentioned businesses have had to double and triple their prices to make up their extreme losses to the already struggling paying customers (10.25-10.75 %) of local taxes,for goods and services, that they get Zero returns on. Calling the 911 in an emergency, then,put on hold for indefinite lengths of time.I do apologize to All who have been hurt or suffered, while just trying to make a living and take care of your families. Voters in the City of Oakland : It is MANDATORY that you amend the City Charter that deploys a "Strong Mayor Initiative ", how ironic it is called that. Also a need to Abolish the system of Rank Choice voting, Now.

I have lived in Oakland for all 51 years of my life and never feared for my safety but this mayor has made me finally move out of Oakland permanently within the last couple of months. She is the worst I have ever seen. Please recall her and get her out of office. Get better people in our city council and our DA's office to save our city. She doesn't care about Oakland.
Good for you. l moved out 44 years ago. Perhaps lots of Oaikland residents will, by unintended consequences, be better off by electing officials who are 100% garbage because they will have all have been finally motivated to move away as you did.
