I started using wood Ash 8 years ago and I have eliminated wire worm and scab so definitely worth using. Woodchips are a gardener's best friend. ♻️Happy gardening, Terry King.
My allotment site has regular deliveries of woodchips in the course of the year. Our latest delivery about three weeks ago was a good mixture of woodchips and leaves so it will compost well in a reasonably short time - say six to eight months. At the beginning of this year I filled three of my “Dalek” style compost bins with partially composted woodchips and when I turned them this week they have decomposed well and I will be spreading it on my plot in early winter. I like your idea of growing potatoes in woodchips and this year I have experimented with the Charles Dowding method of “no dig” potato growing for early and second earlies with excellent results. So next year I will incorporate his method and yours by adding a good layer of woodchips over the potatoes as they grow - thanks for the idea.
Looking forward to more videos now we are getting in to sowing and growing season... I've got lots of seeds and seedlings on the go now. Feels good after a long grey wet winter 🌱 Ramadan Mubarak to you and yours Mothin (halfway through Lent today myself being a Catholic lad)
I've never tried spuds in the ground with wood chips, luckily, my allotment is right next door to the wood chip pile, so think I'll give this method a go this year (along with the 30 litre bucket method)
I think I'm going to try this this year. I recently had a delivery of woodchip that's too fine really for paths. I was just going to use it to mulch but this sounds like a great idea - thank you for sharing.
Sorry brother. I didn't mean that. I meant do you leave the potatoes in warm dry place until some growth-@chit or sprout. Sorry I inadvertently used the wrong word. Salam. Kind regards. Joginder
I hope you don't mind me asking but I'm totally deaf in one ear and partially deaf in the other... would you mind at some point saying your greeting Asalaam etc slower so that I can hear and understand it
My fire is dual fuel, i use oak and smokeless coal, i cant use that can I because of the coal? I would need to clean the fire ash and just burn wood and then use that I think
What on earth are you both talking about? This is an excellent channel either way lots of good ideas that you can follow or not as you wish. It is not the place for racist scum!
I think potatoes grow in just about any soil, woodchip, munure ect.So this year I am going to space them out on the grass, cover with wood chips & not do anything else.
question what growing zone are you in? and the past 3 years ive been having an awful time digging it pulling out bindweed in my garden any ideas how to get rig of bindweed?

It's been miserable, I can't wait for sunnier days.
Happy lent, hope you're sacrifices are accepted
I've just started with 2 raised beds and I've used woodchip as a border around them. I think I'll bang some spuds in there now cheers. Ramadam mubarak

you seem to do ok with woodchip, yet i couldn't do much with bags of bought in compost. says a lot for the compost i used....................brian
Do you think you could grow with wood chips in bags? Maybe with 20cm of earth in the bottom them wood chip on top?
This is the way i do them in containers with woodchip th-cam.com/video/Mnu2uv4z-JQ/w-d-xo.html

Definitely
Clean wood ash is what i'd recommend, coal ash contains a lot of heavy metals
@@MyFamilyGarden cheers for confirming :)

Persistant mulch and hoeing will weaken it eventually, but it will take a long time
Dry those wood aven roots out and use as u would cloves x contains exactly same chemical.
Is that a tree house? You’ve been busy.
